  1. elevator action on gb

this is so beyond the nes and arcade versions. weapon powerups, some stealth, jumping from floor to floor through open elevator shafts. the shotgun. This is one of my all time favorite games.

    bionic commando on gb

again, better than arcade and nes version. midair swinging, dropping behind people and pumping them full of bullets. playing this game makes me feel like a total badass.

  2. Wanted: Star Trek 1-10 DVD set. I am trying to find the specific set pictured below. This one would look very cool on the rack with the rest of my DVD collection. Does anybody here have this set for sale or know where I can buy this specific release? I did a search on ebay but could not find any Star Trek DVD set that looks the same as this one.

    Matt A.

you sure it's a us release? maybe it's for overseas.

  3. i tried everything as well. the only way is to set parental controls on netflix itself , but that would keep you from adding r rated movies to your dvd or instant queue.

I hope they will allow multiple streaming queues or better parental controls in the future. for myself i put all the childrens movies at the top of the instant queue and all the r rated movies at the end, so i don't have to go through a bunch of adult stuff to get to their lists, but i still can't allow my children to use netflix unattended. sad.

  4. Anything worth preserving should be on carts or some form of solid state memory device.

But most of today's mediocre, unmemorable and disposable shite? Who cares. And that's exactly how the mainstream treats their stuff today.

That's a very good point. Consider how much more expensive it is to produce cartridges, compared to CDs...

    there's negatives to that too.

how many obscure, unmarketable games or movies would not be produced due to the expense of solid state memory?

  5. The only thing I'm worried about is that I'm more of a modern gamer then a classic collector like most of the people on here. Some people could probaly pull out of their trade pile or their own personal collection something to send to their secret santa that was on their list...not me! Thrift hunting, here we come! :P

you could always send $20 worth of combat carts.

  6.

Now taht my 2600 is up and running, I picked up some games locally and ended up with some dups.

    My game duplicate tally:

    DONKEY KONG x2 Coleco version

DEFENDER (this is a fun game! one of my favorites so far! pic one)

    ASTEROIDS (pic one)

BREAKOUT (the bomb but my cx 30s are jumpy, i need to swap out the parts! pic one)

    COMBAT x2 ATARI TEXT ones

Anyone want to trade for a pacman or anything else that might be fun?

So far Defender, Freeway, Tennis, and Breakout have been my choice ones! Slot racer sucks! Berserker is fun though sort of a precursor to FPSs!

what kind of games were you looking for? i have a few things you might be interested in.

  7. Well, when they got to the part where they said "I want the latest games" I figured that would be when they bought an NES since Nintendo had locked up all the good games.

...and then promptly got disappointed again, since Nintendo horribly butchered all the "good games" and made them an awful, flickery, green brown and vomit pink nightmare.

Hahah, yeah. The 7800 flopped because the NES had bad games. Makes sense.

nes had the japanese market and nintendo was willing to work hard to make it a success.

  8. I saw a pack of those "Super Joy III" things last week in GW. They wanted $30! Uh, no. I believe I've read that the joysticks work, but the guns are nonfunctional, and just for show.

i bought a couple of these at $10 each. they work pretty well, the nicer ones even have the pin connector for a famicom cart.

inside of the ones i had were a second cart port with a cart (minus the shell) stuck in it. i pulled out the cart and tried it on my nes with my famicom adapter and my brothers NEX and worked fine. it was a cheap way to get a famicom multicart.

the games are a mixed bag - they had a bunch of hacks and obscure japanese games each repeated about 10 times. nothing too big rom wise. the guns work (when they work) with the gun games so if your famiclone cart has no gun games on it, it won't work.
