  1. Sinclair Research Ltd. released the ZX Spectrum, an 8-bit personal home computer, in the United Kingdom in 1982. The Spectrum was one of the first mainstream home computers in the United Kingdom, comparable to the Commodore 64 in the United States. The advent of the ZX Spectrum resulted in a surge in firms developing software and hardware for the system, and some credit it with launching the UK IT industry. Head Over Heels, Jet Set Willy, Skool Daze, Renegade, R-Type, Knight Lore, Dizzy, The Hobbit, Way of the Exploding Fist, and Match Day 2 were amongst the top 10 ZX Spectrum games.
  2. The Amiga is a family of personal computers sold by Commodore in the 1980s and 1990s. Based on the Motorola 68000 family of microprocessors, the machine has a custom chipset with graphics and sound capabilities that were unprecedented for the price, and a pre-emptive multitasking operating system called AmigaOS. Although early Commodore advertisements attempt to cast the computer as an all-purpose business machine, especially when outfitted with the Amiga Sidecar PC compatibility add-on, the Amiga was most commercially successful as a home computer, with a wide range of games and creative software.
  3. That's great to hear for me personally and I will buy it at the drop of a hat. R-Type is my favourite retro game of all time. Thx
  4. I personally don't understand it, but each to their own and I hope it works out for CollectorVision and the folk signed up to it. I'd just like to play R-Type on my CollectorVision without the need for doing this.
  5. I can't imagine too many people signing up for a blind membership of $170.00 if they do then so be it. Hopefully CollectorVision will see sense and offer the games as Rom or cart purchases with cover and instructions at semi-reasonable prices. As mentioned, I prefer Rom as I just don't have the storage for physical media. Whatever happens, I'd still like to add, great work all round.
  6. I couldn't find any Amstrad CPC love within these forum walls and wanted to share my childhood... Over three decades ago my parents answered my prayers and purchased for me an Amstrad CPC 464. Since its debut in 1984, the Amstrad CPC gave me moments of sheer heartbreak with the likes of Outrun, ridicule with Green Beret, but equally moments of celebration with games such as Chase HQ, Renegade and Gauntlet. This video the celebrates the golden moments, a series of high points in Amstrad CPC gaming. Trust me, despite the negativity, the Amstrad CPC had plenty of great games, and here we will peek at the history of some of these great games. In just a single video, the aim is to bring them all together and identify those games that are essential for new and older gamers looking to relive their youth.

  8. This is my third video focusing on the ColecoVision from CBS Coleco. I'm still blown away by the quality of this console and its games. This video looks at the history, the struggles and games that made the console sing. There’s a fantastic library of games, mostly arcade conversions, with a small percentage of original titles that nearly almost hit the mark. #Colecovision #CBSColecovision #TopColecovisionGames
  9. The Collector Vision Phoenix is an open-source FPGA ColecoVision compatible system. Join me as I look through this new purchase of mine and its bundled games. This system provide video in HDMI output, Digital audio via HDMI, F18A Video enhanced compatibility built in, Opcode SGM compatibility built in, built in Atari2600 core and the ability to add your own games with the SD card. #CollectorVisionPhoenix #colecovision #ColecoVisionTopGames
  10. You can have both, you just can't play with both
  11. He's very creative, don't allow the education system to strip it away from him.
  12. Graphically not the strongest, but the idea seems sound, plus looks to be very addictive. I'm definitely interested, especially how it plays out and variety between stages.
  13. I almost purchased one, took it to the counter and they popped it into a bag, then I put in my pin for my card and the bank declined the transaction. I later called the bank and they said it was blocked because of the cost and would need prior authorisation before I went back. Back then the shop had a 40" screen with FIFA running and I thought it looked amazing. The guy even showed me an early demo of Need for Speed. Thank goodness my transaction was denied, as we all know how things quickly turned out. I wasn't so lucky with my next purchase though, the Sega Saturn, don't get me wrong. I enjoyed it, but not the part where Sega dropped it like a hot stone, effectively leaving me with an expensive door stop. But normality resumed later, once I backed Sony's PS1 and the N64.
  14. This wouldn't surprise me, as ColcoVision were seemingly trying to do great things. I imagine it wasn't long before they hit a great big brick wall and ran out of memory.
  15. Myth, best C64 game I've personally played. But there's so much good stuff, Beach Head, Turbo Outrun, Green Beret, Pitstop, IK+, Way of the Exploding Fist... List is endless. Then there's all the homebrew. You're either 1) setting yourself up for a divorce or 2) In for the best time ever and so far have ben lucky enough to avoid marriage
  16. Thanks for sharing. Yes, Turbo back then must have been amazing. That would have been my must own and ply game. I don't try and judge with a 2021/22 mindset, but how I would have felt back then had I played for the first time. As a kid growing up in the UK, we had the C64, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum and to some extent the MSX. It was much more computer driven, consoles didn't really make a splash until SEGA.
  17. I reckon you'd be hard pushed to find the 25 worst games on the CV. From what I've played thus far, I've had fun. I even liked the Dukes of Hazzard and apparently I read that's a massive stinker.
  18. That's correct, I wasn't lucky enough to grow up with the CV. Those of you that did don't realise how lucky you were Almost every arcade conversion I've played, back then would have felt like the arcade game in the home. As someone personally into arcade games, I would have given my right arm for this back in the eighties. As the video mentions, I'm brand spanking new to the CV.
  19. Hi, When will R-Type be available for download, I'd happily pay for it. I've watched several long play's now, so lot's of people have it already. Apart from the scroll, not a bad effort and looks to be very accurate.
  20. Top 25 ColecoVision Games Top 25 Colecovision Games. I’m completely new to the CBS ColecoVision console. I was aware of its existence, I briefly played on one back in the eighties, but didn’t walk away with any special memories. However, recently all that changed with the Top 25 ColecoVision Games. What I’ve discovered needs sharing, not for those who already know about the system, but for those that don’t, want to find out more or feel as if they missed out. I can’t think of a single 80s gaming system that consistently brought high-quality arcade ports to the home — Welcome to the Top 25 Colecovision Games!
  21. You can build powershell in any Windows environment including a VM and then it’s up to you how you configured all aspects of the environment. If it goes wrong, it’s down to individual and how you have setup Windows.
  22. C# is better for all things Windows in my humble opinion, but doesn’t really matter.
  23. That’s not my experience of AIX, especially when talking to underlying SAN storage. But yes, certainly better than Windows of the day. I still argue that Novell Netware was the best, if only they could have invested in a decent client, there’d be no such thing as Microsoft.
  24. I loved all that config.sys and Himem.sys sorcery. Although I can hardly remember it now, I became a whizz at it and would help others configure there’s to help run their latest games like a peach ?
