Hah horrible??  I've been bitching for like 20 years that ebay should adopt that.  Scalpers are human garbage.  I prefer a real time auction where the true winner wins, not some scumbag twit using a bot.  As far as claiming goes, zenmarket has an easy click withdraw button.  Had I lost I could have just pulled back the yen I put into it and been refunded to my PP account within I think it said a couple days to process it (which is weird considering it processes towards them in like under a minute. :D  Now I just need to sit and wait on this for the Japanese dude to send it to them so I can cover both shipping charges and have it on its way here.

    Good eye on the game!

I have 2 things to say...

First, congratulations! 👍. Maybe there are some delays because of the covid, but i think Zenmarket will be asking for more money soon!.

Second... Obviously you haven't been through bidding in an auction for 4 hours after the supposed closing time! 😅

Well it ends in 7 hours.  I bit the bullet, just pulled out over a $130 for that bundle just so I could bid on it.  Hopefully some wanker doesn't snipe it as that would just be depressing.  I noticed there's no penalty on stored funds so if it bombs I can hit the withdraw button and get the money put back into paypal without taking a hit so it's fine.  Zenmarket allows exact change, not blocks of funds like that site you said.  Here's to hoping I get Money Idol and my decade long always miss out want on Esparks. 😕

Yahoo auctions are horrible because the finishing time keep getting extended each time somebody bid within the last 5 minutes... i hope the auction ended by now and you got the pack! 😅

About claiming back your money, I know there were like 3 or 4 months to do it with Paypal with no penalty, but Paypal changed some policies regarding that and now the time allowed is a bit more limited (but still it's 1 or 2 months). If they don't say anything about it, it wouldn't surprise me if Zenmarket take that hit.

Yes I did see that and they are just that.  The main site had this blue/white button I think had Kyo on it for SNK official.  I don't know if I'd use this much, but I registered over gmail for it at least it'll cover their $3 processing fee for the first bite.

I noticed all of them make you pre-load an amount before bidding, not sure I'm happy about that.  What like happens to the remaining funds you know?  It's like are they stuck, can you refund any spare change?  I couldn't find it on there, buyee either (they do it the same too) and a third I located.  This one I did sign onto seems more easy to navigate and the least abusive on fees.  If I could really get that NG port and knockoff a 15 year~ want to get back into my hands of Esparks avoiding ebay trolls I'm feeling highly motivated.

I understand that you don't like paying ahead of time... but it makes sense, imagine that they bid in your behalf without charging anything... and once the auction end, you change your mind, you don't want it any longer,  and of course you are not paying for something you don't want... without anyway to enforce your payment, they are in trouble... now, it's not only you it's a few hundred users 😅...

Goody Japan used to have a multiplier, in that you would deposit 100$ (for example) and they would allow you to bid up to 150 or 200$, but they must have had some bad experiences because i think it's gone or severely more limited.

About the deposit, i have used 4 or 5 different companies along the years and they all worked a bit different but in one way or another you are getting it back. In my experience, you can leave any money left to the service to be able to bid the next time or you can just claim it back.

Ever heard of zenmarket?  They seem to have a flat $3 charge to use their site, then whatever the cost is of the mail from them to me here with many shipping choices.

    https://zenmarket.jp/en/auction.aspx?itemCode=f348819843

What caught my eye is that red one there with the silver knight, that's a favorite of mine from the mid 90s, it rarely shows up for an honest price on ebay, mostly it's twatish trolls wanting $100 for it and it's not worth anything north of 1/2 that.  With that, a couple others, and primarily money idol exchanger that's a big thing for me.

Yeah... ebay can be a bit surreal with some prices 😅. I haven't used that service so i don't really have an opinion, but  i have heard about them, i think they are official partners with SNK for their online store.

Top one is AES, the other seems to be a lot you buy all of?  I don't have any middle man service, so not sure how I'd get my hands on that.  I see a GB game in there I really love in that big spread of games too as well.

Yep, i copied the link from the wrong tab 😓, check the message above yours!.

About the middleman service, pretty much in any page of Yahoo Japan there's a banner at the top about a company called "buyee", i have used it a couple of times and it works just fine, but usually (for many years now) i use this service:

    https://www.goody-japan.com/

What you have to take in consideration is that aside of the item, you will be paying 2 shipping cost (from the seller to the middleman, and then from the middleman to your house which you won't really know until the middleman has the item and can quote you), the middleman fee, and some other not so obvious fees (actually Yahoo Japan charges you for paying by credit card and bank transfers also cost money and you have to pay that extra cost)... and of course custom fees depending of your country. 😅

Edit: Yes, the second auction is for all the GameBoy games.

    Hi guys,

Back with RetroGeo sharing more on his progress of his Neo-Geo homebrew The Eye of Typhoon. Enjoy. :)

    From the description,

"This is the development progress as of January 30 2021 running on PC development version. Enjoy :-)"

    Anthony...

It seems to be progressing nicely, maybe it's just me but the hit detection looks to be way better than in the previous video.

So... I found this just now. 1 yen and free shipping seems super suspicious. I've never seen an AES game auction start at such a cheap price. Thoughts?

    https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b535628190

The seller seems trustworthy with a bunch of positives... and the price is sure to go up unless something really unexpected happen.

Maybe there is a reserve price in that the winning bid has to be over a certain price to actually win but i haven't seem anything about it in the auction.

To follow a conversation a week or so ago, I dug out my original copy of Fatal Fury for the Sega Mega Drive, and noticed it was published by Takara who handled the same GameBoy ports people were talking about.

I bought this when I was 12, desperate to get a cool fighting game on my Mega Drive.  I remember being well chuffed with it.  I’d say this was the closest I got to anything SNK in the early 90’s.

Kinda lucky I’ve still got it, given how my parents had a tendency to offload a lot of my childhood things.

    image.jpg

    image.jpg

Yes, Takara did most of the SNK games for Snes, MegaDrive, GameBoy and Game Gear, the other few by Saurus i think. Some of the conversions were better than others but the 2 Fatal Fury games for MegaDrive are particularly interesting, while the SNES tried to be as close as possible to the NeoGeo (with not so great outcome most of the times), the MegaDrive ones were kind of remixes... for example FF1 has less characters, but those that remained were improved quite a bit over the original with new attacks (as all the characters are playable vs the 3 characters in NeoGeo)... and Fatal Fury 2 have all the characters but most special attacks behave differently so it's a very different experience.

Yeah, I'll see what they have. Stuff like KOF2002 is really expensive on AES. I do definitely prefer to play Neo Geo games on the Neo Geo, but given the prices, Dreamcast is a good alternative. I did also find several copies of Waku Waku 7 on the Saturn, and I recently learned that Twinkle Star Sprites is also on the Dreamcast. I like both of those games, so I might get them eventually since the AES versions of both of those are crazy expensive. I should probably get a consolized MVS or even a cabinet at some point so I can get some games without going bankrupt. I really like those SC-14 and SC-19 cabinets since they are relatively smaller than my favourite Sega cabinets, but they are probably more rare and expensive than the Sega cabinets are.

For Twinkle Star Sprites, i recomend checking out the Saturn version, it has the problem of muffled voice samples i mentioned before, BUT it has 1 extra character not available anywhere else (that i know), a new anime intro with a song and a second CD with some extras about the characters, illustrations, etc... it's the more complete version. I also recomend checking out Twinkle Star Sprites La Petite Princesse for PS2, it's the continuation of the NeoGeo game (using poligon graphics this time) and pretty good just like the original but it also includes the arcade as an extra.

  12. @Steven Pendleton You might want to check some videos of any SNK game for Dreamcast that you are interested before buying, i don't remember which ones but for whatever reason some of those games have actually worse audio quality than the NeoGeo... if you have played any of the PS1 versions, they sound exactly the same, maybe they have arranged CD quality music but the voice samples and sound effect are way more compressed than the AES/MVS versions. Then again, even if Garou is one of those games affected with poor audio... between paying 3000 yens and 100.000... i'm sure i could live with the muffled audio! 😅

Hahaha. Glad you enjoyed it Pacho. I agree with Magician Lord seeing it's my favorite game for the Neo-Geo. Blue's Journey is an interesting game. When I first played it, I didn't know what to make of the game. It had nice colors and a good story line, but I always felt it's a strange title. But eventually it grew on to me and loved it soon after. ;-)

    Anthony...

It's not that they are among my favorites (mind you i love both games, but there are a bunch i prefer before)... it's a weird feeling that those 2 games (+ Last Resort if possible) are the bare minimum a NeoGeo gamer must have even if you don't like those games 😂, like if they belong together / they should come in a pack... and once you have those, get whatever you want 😅. I  can't really say why those games and not Samurai Shodown and 8 Man for example.

Fantastic news with SNK vs Capcom for NGP releasing for the Switch... i think all the SNK and Capcom VS games are pretty good, but the NGP fighting game is the better one of the bunch if you ask me!. Maybe this too open the door to the SVC Chaos and the Capcom games for modern systems!.

  14. Great video!. Showing the obvious stuff (KOF, Fatal Fury, etc.) and then other not so popular games (Neo Bomberman, Neo Drift Out, King of Monsters...) to show the diversity available for the system. The only "problem" i have is that *for me*, a NeoGeo collection must have at least 2 games, Magician Lord and Blue's Journey... and Blue's Journey is not in the video! 😅😅😅

  15. Good job and thanks for getting in touch with Marco from 7BlackJack8!. Obviously there isn't enough material to get an idea of the quality of the game, but what we have seen looks reallly promising... similar to Blazing Star. At the very least they did an awesome job with the intro! 😅

The only downside of this is that AES cartridges and cases are BEAUTIFUL for display. I regret to buy 2 NGP games in japanese edition ("SNK vs Capcom Card Clash - Capcom Edition" and "Sonic Pocket Adventure") because they are cheap cardboard and has worse aesthetics/conservation than old Gameboy games (at least, the front of DMG games were awesome). On the other hand, EUR/USA NGP games were like "mini AES boxes" with matte plastic film covering and hard cases, I love them.

From a "just player" perspective, this is AWESOME. A Neo Geo can be picked up more or less at a nice/slightly high price (yet...), but AES games are much cheaper and you can put free play and adjust the DIP switches.

Yep, i love too the mini AES cases for NeoGeo Pocket; Japanese games also used them at first but i guess SNK decided to cut back the cost and introduced the cardboard boxes.

    Hi guys,

Back again with Rex the Sheep. After posting the NintendoLife article of Takara's works of Neo-Geo titles on the Game Boy, I thought it would be cool to repost this excellent video. Enjoy. :)

    Anthony..

I liked way more the video than the article, aside of showing the games (and more of them) it gives a lot more of information.

I'm not sure if anyone is interested in checking the differences between the 2 SNK Heroines Art Books...

Nice one, I would have missed it.

I wish they had done more detail though.  They badly glossed over some stuff, even got a few things off a bit too.  Quite a few of those games in the later titles, it wasn't speech bubbles, they used real talk, at first at victory screens was real recorded sampled voice samples, but the even later stuff it was in battle I think with KOF96 maybe one more.  Maybe they're right about KOF96 having a few removed?  I do know the other games have their entire rosters which is nothing short of remarkable.  Not just that, but all their poses, demeanor, reactions, FULL MOVE SETS, and the rest are all present.  The games maybe chibi, but they're not halfassed or cut up with low frame rates like SF2 sadly has on GB.  Takara was the lead when it came to stunning GB fighters, they're on par if not maybe in some little ways nicer than their NGP/C counterparts which says a lot.  I've been considering grabbing the set, but only as of now from Takara I've got SS1, SS3, and Battle Arena Toshinden.  I'm just not much into fighting games as I was for like 20 years.

The article is a bit generic/not going into too much details but it's great to see some media remember these wonderful games (they should have added Worl Heroes 2 Jet and maybe Toshinden while they were at it) and they come to the same conclusion i have, Takara did an outstanding job.

I can say that Samurai Shodown 3 has actual voices for the winning screen of each character and Real Bout Special has (much) improved sound effects when using a Super Game Boy; FF2 and SS1 doesn't have anything special (aside of 2 players and a special frame for FF2) and i don't remember if the other games had anything for SGB aside of 2P.

I which I could see a screenshot of samurai showdown gameboy in action.

The screenshot we have is from the intro.

Still better than Game Gear version.

Samurai Shodown for  Game Boy is plainly awesome, it has more fighters (the 12 fighters + Amakusa + Kuroko + Delivery guy), it has illustrations for all the fighters (intro, ending and one or 2 in between), great music, good game play... it might be the better version of them all! 😅

More on the Neo-Geo Homebrew Hypernoid by NeoHomeBrew. Also, the planned release date will be around Spring/Summer of 2021.

Thank you and you're very welcome. Do you happen to have a rough idea on when you'll have Hypernoid available to offer to the public to order?

    Anthony..

Hi Anthony, I plan to release Hypernoid in spring/summer 2021. There are still some details left to do but I am very close to finalize it. I will upload a video of the final boss in the next days. Thank you a lot for your interest :)

    From the description,

"The 5th Boss and final boss of Hypernoid has now been completed. The Alien Skull Boss is surrounded by moving spike blades and shoots three fireballs towards the players paddle. It has 3 destruction phases, an own color scheme and outer frame design. Made with NeoBitz SDK, HPMAN's DATlib and Blastar's NGFX SoundBuilder."

    Anthony..

Thanks for sharing the update. I have seem in the comments in youtube that there might be a CD version, that would be really nice!.

Same here Pancho. In fact, I still have my versions for the Game Boy that I purchased new in American and Japanese from a local import store that I use to visit daily. Still wish it was still around. But great deals I use to get while it was in business. :)

    Anthony..

The situation here during the 16 bits were a bit weird about importing games, now that i think about it... it was somewhat easy (but very expensive) to get American and Japanese games for SNES... eventually there were also MegaDrive games, but... 8 bit (NES, GameBoy, etc.) games? Nope. I'm not saying that there weren't any shop in Spain selling these games, of course i'm sure there were, but none i were aware... so sadly, i missed FF2 for GB, but thankfully Samurai Shodown was released and i got it. I remember organizing Samurai Shodown tournaments with my friends by using the Super Game Boy (which allow for 2 players with 1 cartridge) ! 😂
