I think it's pretty safe to say there will be a PS4 version (and maybe it will be PS5 enhanced since I guess that's something that they do now, but it will run on PS5 anyway even if it isn't enhanced), but I wonder if any other systems will get it. I hope there is a PC version, which I might actually get it if they do make one. If not... consoles = pay to play online and I don't do the pay to play online thing, so...
I think that if KOF XV were a PS exclusive it would have been shown in any of the Sony events for PS5, probably it will be similar to Samurai Shodown, widely available... but hopefully there won't be such a long delay with the PC version (and the Switch version if there is one...)

Your friend is right 👌, Waku Waku 7 is a superb game!. I wanted so much a NeoGeo CD version of it 😭...

Anthony..
The only problem i have is that the CD case is just a piece of cardboar folded, it looks elegant, but...
The collector edition for Samurai Shodown (2019) for Switch was also very similar:

All the SNK releases by PixnLove_Store are fairly similar, if it helps to get an idea about KOF XIV Ultimate, this is the Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection... Something that doesn't translate very well into pictures is the quality of the artbook... it doesn't have that many pages, it doesn't have hard covers but the paper and the printing quality doesn't get much better.

And just when we had the discussion on Neo-Geo Homebrews from one of the developers I mention on the "What Does The Neo-Geo mean to you" post for which no new updates occurred in a few years, here's NeoHomeBrew with a new upload on Hypernoid...
Thanks for sharing the update! Hypernoid progress is going slow but steady and it looks like aside of some fixes/improvements it only has 5 uncompleted special stages (maybe boss battles?).

One was NeoHomeBrew that was developing Hypernoid and a 3D Racing demo. The other was 7Blackjack8. His game is called Neo Thunder X. Sadly, there isn't any new footage or news from them in the past 2-3 years. Maybe I'll try to contact them to see what's new from them and their works.
Here's footage of the games by the way.

Wow... Neo Thunder X looks really impressive! Too bad there hasn't been any update in so long.
It's also interesting the Demo Racer, i mean, it's probably the less graphically stuning of the videos but i always liked these kind of racers (like Out Run) and wondered why the only one available for NeoGeo is Riding Hero (which i love with its fascinating RPG mode!), I'm sure NeoGeo fall quite short of the Sega arcade boards when using sprites scallation, but still... it's a pity there is only 1 game.

Something strangely appealing there, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
Maybe if they released an animated gif or something, that'd help me figure it out.
Mai convinced me too to buy the game 😂. Sadly we might have to wait a bit longer to see any video, as i understand it looks like it has been a mistake from a Spanish site that uploaded KOF XV pictures when commenting about KOF XIV Ultimate... how that mistake happened is up to anyone, but with the KOF XV event cancelled so sudently i would guess that there were already a bunch of videogame sites with official information and screens of KOF XV just waiting for the "go ahead!" from SNK to publish the story.

NeoGeo (CD) is my all time favorite system. Maybe it wasn't really my first contact with a MVS, but what i remember is that an arcade center which i used to go during the weekends replaced nearly half of their arcades (all the ones at the right wall) with MVS, it wasn't too big so maybe we are talking of 6 or so cabinets... and while all the other cabs looked the same (they were very cool all said), these were different and had marquees with the cover of different games... these cabs were not only different, they had a bunch of games each! (and by a bunch i mean 4 or 6, a first for me)... the games were pretty much all the first ones (Magician Lord, Blue's Journey, King of Monsters, 8 man, Robo Army, Last Resort, Cyber Lip, Ninja Commando...), then all the games had that NeoGeo intro with the 330 mega while videogame magazines were talking of huge 8 megabit cartridges for MegaDrive and SNES 😅... everything caused a big impression on me... from that point i was a big fan of NeoGeo and SNK, loved the arcades, buyed some of the SNES and GB games... until i finally got a NeoGeo CD (shortly after the release in Spain) and that was like, "that's it, this is the best it can get, from this point and going on, videogames can only go down!" and today i reafirm that conclusion 😂

I was hoping a Switch version of KOF XIV, but after the ultimate version for PS4 it looks even more unlikely than before, in any case it's nice to have everything in one package. I always found quite odd that while most fighters make quite a bit of money selling diferent outfits for their fighters, SNK barely did anything with KOF, SS or SNK Heroines... even in the artbook of KOF XIV you can see a bunch of alternative costumes (just Mai has nearly 20)... i guess the few SNK released didn't sell too well.

Change of strategy at the last minute? Who knows.
Yep, after a long time with a date set, it has been cancelled just a few hours before the event (and also just a few hours after reconfirming the event), so it has been really weird... then again, some parts of Japan (if not all of them) have just entered the state of emergency due to the covid, i think this might be the cause of the cancellation... then there is all what is going on in the USA right now, so it wouldn't have been the best day for the event...

Anthony..
I have this calendar somewhere 🤔... now i just have to find it 😅.
I'm not sure if anyone is interested in "Fighting Legends" for PS4, a pack with the 3 AoF games, all the Real Bout and KOF 97 global match with some extra goodies that is going to be released in Spain; it used to have a generic release date of December but it looks like the final release date is February 5th. As i understand, the games themselves (aside of KOF97) are conversion the same packs that were released for PS2 many years ago but now for PS4, i think they also have been released separately by Limited Run Games.

I'm surprised to the number of different official MVS cabinets there are out there, and that MVS-2 is really cool (I'm not too sure if it is too comfortable to play with the screen at a different position than usually), i don't think i had seem it before... my favourite is the Japanese MVS(the one that kind of looks like a NeoGeo Mini), but even if just for curiosity it would be a second one.
-
I guess that it makes a lot of sense that while importing arcade boards could be somewhat cheap... shipping cabinets, even unassembled, from the other side of the world would increase the cost too much, so it would be so much cheaper to mass produce the cabinets in each respective country when possible.
Oddly enough, after i got a NeoGeo CD (the AES would come much, much later), i would still play at arcades games i already had... there was that weird experience of playing with 3 buttons and a half brocken stick that you can't get in your home ^_^uuu...

Those Australian MVS cab. looks great!. It always take my atention those gorgeous arcade cabinets (not just MVS) since most of the arcades i can remember in Spain were generic unless it required something special (4 players, guns, etc.)... i think i might have played some "real" MVS cab. but of all the pictures i have seem no one match exactly what i (barely) remember...

Thanks for such warm welcome Anthony... it took me long enough to join! 😅 . I'm not usually a very active member of any community but i hope i can contribute with something from time to time!.
We should be getting new info in KOF XV (as far as they confirm Mai, they have my money 😅), the new characters of Samurai Shodown and i hope the new NeoGeo (there were that weird story of a Metal Slug (the tank) console 🤔...), there are exciting times (and not so exciting...) ahead related to SNK... which remind me that last year SNK put a Mai focused store with plenty of goodies for her birthday (January 1st), but it doesn't look like they are doing it again this year 😓.

15 hours ago, fdurso224 said:Hi guys,
Interesting. A Neo-Geo homebrew in development called. "The Eye of Typhoon". A title released for the 3DO, PC, and on the sole Korean market. Originally developed by Viccom. A Korean partner with SNK. Looks really nice.
From the description off the link.
The Eye of Typhoon is the second fighting game developed for the Neo.Geo MVS by Viccom, a Korean partner and friend company of SNK.
Its release was limited to PC CD-Rom and 3DO versions in 1996, and on the sole Korean market.
As for the prototype that was initially developed for the Neo.Geo, it was never published and has yet to reappear...
Thus, The Eye of Typhoon has only reached an extremely limited audience, be it at the time of its release, or thanks to the more recent means of distribution and emulation. An unfortunate fate for a game with such a strong identity and delightful exoticism.
The aim of The Eye of Typhoon [ Tsunami Edition / Saiki ] project is to bring this good old arcade production from the first half of the 90s back to the Neo.Geo!! the plateform for which it was originally intended!
However, it is not a direct port of the 3DO and PC versions, but rather a complete overhaul based on the graphics and sound material designed by Viccom.
An original program that will pay a tribute to the system and the good old way of making video games.
Our ambition is to produce a new Neo.Geo game that combines the expectations and excitement of a brand new game to the unique feeling of getting one's hands on a long lost treasure !
Well, you guessed it -> the flavour of the arcades of the good old days is what we're aiming for! 🙂
Here's the YouTube video
From the description
"The Eye Of Typhoon [ Tsunami Edition ] / [ Saiki ] for the Neo.geo! +++ Making of included +++ It mainly uses C language and custom tools designed for the occasion."
Anthony..
Hi there!, this is my first time commenting here but beign a fan of the NeoGeo and SNK in general i think i will fit just fine here (probably!).
It's a bit weird what they are doing with The Eye of Typhoon (a new game using assets from the 3DO and PC game), but it's really nice to see this graphic style (like the first wave of fighting games after SF2) once again!. Currently looks a bit rough around the edges (as expected) but very promising.

I'm really surprised with the wonderful job that Takara did for Game Boy with the SNK fighters (+ Toshinden), they are their very own thing (i mean, they are inspired by the arcades but they don't try to be the arcades like the SF or MK GameBoy games), are a lot of fun and i'm tempted to say they control much better than the SNES games 😅!
