Perhaps, but having a keyboard could be useful even if it was "just" a keyboard. The biggest issue would be the availability of keyboards with XT-compatible mode. Even if you don't have an XT board, you can adapt a ps/2 with a little on-board circuitry. I mean personal system 2, not playstation jacks up the cost a little, but I'll pay it. Nathan I agree. While I would be leaning towards a more modern solution, like a USB, PS/2 KB, a 'classic' solution like a real XL/XE keyboard would be nice too, they are not THAT hard to get...

I'm leaning more towards a redesign with a separate power supply and possible a smaller form factor HDD. A little birdie told me about a sweet redesign that is due by the end of the year at the soonest. I, for one, am excited and cannot wait!!

I did look at the box art but it's unclear what it actually does? "Demo" is ambiguous. Is it an animation? Music? Demo of a game? Picture that displays? What does it do ...? LOL good point! to summarize: included are psone LCD screen Duelshock 1 controller composite video cable power hookup (one power cord) packing foam box manuel demo disc and again, the unit is MOD chipped to play burns, etc. better!

What do you mean by "MODed"? it has a mod chip in it to let it play burns, and foreign discs!

I was digging around and couldn't find a street date! Anyone know for sure when the redesigned PSP will be out in the US?

I was digging through my console closet and came across this gem! screen is sharp and beautiful, includes all accessories. the only real deficiencies, are the box is a bit rough, the manuel has a couple of tears on it, and the hinge on the screen makes a clicking sound when it's opened! The mod works perfectly with burns, and Japanese games. I'm basically putting out feelers to see if there's any demand here as I don't want to ebay it and list it as 'open' and places 'any ps1 game, i don't know how!' sheesh! any interest?

That will be great! I just want it for gaming, music and videos. and maybe for this.....

GREAT thread.... I personally gamed on the II and IIgs. As well as a parade of Commodores, Heck I even own a Pippin!! The Pippin had potential, but it just never got the attention from BAN DAI or Apple. I see TWO ways Apple could be kings of the console world. 1. BUY Nintendo outright! It's been rumored for years, and they have similar philosophies (another story for another thread!) 2. upgrade the video of the mini/Apple TV units, release a standard SDK, and put the full marketing muscle behind it. disable the excellent OSX and get as many Japanese developers on board ASAP. Think of it as an Amiga CD32 done right! Oh yeah add Blu-Ray to it.

I'm just being cautious about the 8GB memory stick. There have been some issues using them in some cameras. It will either not recognize it, or see it as a smaller capacity. I'd love to think Sony'd address that in the new PSP. I managed to luck into 2 8GB sticks, my card reader can read them just fine, and I'm itching to try them in a PSP!! I was actually waiting outside a local Best Buy for 8 hours to be one of the first to get one, they were projecting shortages. I also did that for WII, N^$, DS lite. And if the hype picks up, I'll do it for the new PSP! All of my info from after E3 shows a launch in early Sept., and no info from Sony's page. I could take a slightly thicker battery door on one side for a longer battery life! I'll wait and see when I wrap my hands around one to be sure.

Heya! I plan on grabbing a new PSP when they come out next month (IIRC!) got a couple of questions... will the 8GB memory stick pro work? what about the extended battery like the 3200 one? will they still fit? and will it play my minidiscs?? we'll see. thanks guys!

cool replies... I think I may get one. I'm a little worried about DSP games though. All of my worries are: DOOM Star Fox Super Noah's ark (dumb ass game, but oddly addictive...) Super Mario Allstars Pilotwings Mario Kart F-Zero and of course Ballz 3D Other than that, my library is pretty common. also what about fami and super fami games, will they fit??
