  1. I was given an Odyssey 2 recently that doesn't work. Is there anyone out there that would be willing to go over it and see if it can be repaired? If so, let me know and I'd be glad to reimburse for time and parts.
  2. The problem was fixed when I changed out the flex board and all of the buttons in the controller with one of Best Electronics kits. I had some issues with the joystick portion not working, but after a few tries lining up the stick with the pots, all was well.
  3. I have an electronic copy of the service manual. What do you suggest I try? I've used my multimeter to check the ohms when I press the buttons and am getting and open link on both controllers when I check the various buttons.
  4. I'm getting weird readings on both controllers. Sometimes it is around 250 in the middle and then in the 300-400's on the limits, other times its 2-3k ohms or 1m ohms. It seems like it has a mind of its own...
  5. I adjusted the trimmer and it didn't have any effect. Also I changed out all of the 4052's and put in new socketed chips but that didn't fix the problem. I unplugged both my controllers and the console scrolled down to the bottom of the list of games and made the same beeping noise. I wonder if they POKEY chip is the cause of this problem...
  6. Still having this problem. Anyone have a suggestion on forcing the update or downloading it and installing via USB?
  7. Recently I bought a 5200 that wasn't working (boots to black screen) and was able to figure out (with some help) that two of the RAM chips were bad. After that, the console boots up, however both my controllers don't work. I've tried multiple games and even the Atarimax Ultimate SD Multicart. One thing I did notice is when the Atarimax Ultimate SD Multicart is running and listing all the games on it, I hear a repeating beeping noise. When I put in all the other games I hear no sound, although I'm not sure if there is any until the buttons are pressed.
  8. Turned on my VCS for the first time in a month or so and my VCS is not able to install the latest OS update. It would stay at 80% and progress no further. On the next reboot, it would either be stuck at either 4/4 or 2/4 updates. Leaving it on for a couple of days or cycling power would not make it complete the update. I had a similar problem back in January and had to download the day one update and install it via a USB stick.
