I received about 40 copies since I came to know about the magazine and liked every issue. It was a retro newsletter for a retro hobby. And I'm really going to miss it... Hopefully somebody is going to start the "2600 reconnection" somewhen...

Hello, I tested the latest version of the game file as burned EPROM on my VCS, 2600jr and 7800 and didn't find any more bugs. Everything behaves just as planned and wanted. I consider the game development as finished and will start working on label, box and manual design soon. Thanks for your interest and kind words. Have a nice weekend. Simon

Bis morgen, die Herren!

Hi, I lately worked on some technical bugs considering - smooth positioning of objects (HMOVE) - scanline jump after collision detection A first testing cartridge (still containing the mentioned bugs) was made and will be presented on saturday at the 4th Retro-Fair in Bochum, Germany. I consider the gameplay with two joysticks placed on a table as good, even without suction cups. I also think that the difficulty is okay and increases nicely. Later, Simon

Thank you very much! This looks great!! :-) I'll check out that applet file instructions and test my own games with it soon. Thanks again and best regards, Simon

Hi, I tried to reach Jarret of Packrat VG before posting here, too. Unfortunately I haven't heard from him in ages. (I don't even get to know if he sold any more copies of my own game Mental Kombat.) I received clear carts from Atari Age and Packrat in the past, but their source was the same: VGWiz. Thanks, Simon

Hi, VGWiz had great clear cartridge shells available a few years ago. Unfortunately they're out of business now... Al/AtariAge went out of clear shells, too. Does anybody have a stock of about 35 clear cart shells for sale? Thanks and have a nice day! Simon

Hello, is there an emulator available for playing Atari VCS right on a website games on a website? I envision a website window in which a predefined .bin files is able to being played using the cursor keys. Is there any emulator running directly on a website (Java, or something similar)? It would be really great if I could present my own games playable at http://www.quernhorst.de/atari/ Thank you! Simon

Who owns a Stunt Cycle or Atari Video Pinball console?
Simon replied to tremoloman2006's topic in Dedicated Systems
Hi, I have got a "Stunt Cycle" as PAL model. I heard that this is something special as it was only produced in small quantities as PAL version. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find information on its rarity on the internet by now. I found it on a flea market two years ago for only 3 Euro. Later, Simon -
Hi, I updated the owners list of "R8ro!" at http://www.quernhorst.de/atari/. All the people are listed who ordered and already paid their copy. I'm waiting for response or payment from some people who reserved a copy, but didn't pay by now. Please contact me if you are interested in a copy or need advice on how to pay. Have a nice day! Simon

Hello, just a quick update: - Introduction screen done (see attached picture). - Possibility to choose one or two joysticks on the introduction screen added. - Maximum amount of loopings added (you have to take care how many loopings in one direction you already made). - Crashing and landing (after finishing the game) added. - Soundeffects and intro music added. - Level parameters set. - Scoring system added. - Some bugs removed. I'll continue testing and improving. Have a nice day! Simon

Eurocon 2008 Karlsruhe/GERMANY - PICS ADDED!
Simon replied to iwan-iwanowitsch-goratschin's topic in International
Hi, the 2600 connection published an article about the EUROCON 2008 on the frontpage of its current issue #98 (March/April 2009). Have a nice day, Simon -
Thanks for your reactions so far. I'm sticking two the two joystick concept, because I think that this gives the game much more authenticity as you hold the joysticks just as kite handles in your hands. I tested it with Quickshot Joysticks (with suction cups) and liked the feeling very much. However I may use a console switch to choose if you want to use one (direction left and right) or two joysticks (each direction down). A videogame is a videogame, it doesn't matter if it's a console game, a computer game or a flash game. Well, I don't consider flash or pc games as videogames. I always differentiated between videogames and computer games, but maybe this is only my personal opinion, because I dislike pc games... Later, Simon

Hello, I started working on my 6th VCS game project "KITE!" and would like to tell you about the current version. I think that the sports of Kiting was not covered by any videogame so far and hope that this game is something new in videogames. To my knowledge the only reference of a kite in a videogame is in the unreleased prototype of "Good luck, Charlie Brown". You control the game with two joysticks. One joystick for every hand. Pushing back the joystick makes you pull the connected line of this hand and make the kite turn and move on screen. You have to collect dots and avoid colliding with birds, lightning and the ground. You are not able to control your kite when you made too many loopings in the same direction, so you have to loop into the other direction again and remember the amount of loopings you made. The dots to be collected are sometimes positioned randomly and sometimes moving directly below the cloud or the bird. I'm currently working on the different levels and the introduction screen. Soundeffects need to be done. The game is designed as a 4 kb game. Later, Simon

Hello, The carts in the catalogue from Finland show different game compilations than my German cartridge. Therefore the four carts from Finland do not automatically mean that there were four carts in Germany, too. I wrote a small article about this in one of the latest issues of the 2600connection (Quote): Two pictures of a Hot SHOT catalogue from Finland were posted to the Atari Age forums. They show four multi game cartridges containing six games each. My Hot Shot cartridge contains the following titles: Mafia (1), Felix Return (1), Squirrel & Snail (2), Astro Attack (2), Tom Boy (3) and Ground Zero (1). The numbers in brackets show to which of the four cartridges from Finland (or “Democasetti” as they seem to call them there) these games belong. As the labels of my cartridge are in German language I assume that they even produced different versions for different countries, mine being number 1 (according to the main label) in Germany. The "Vorführkassette" shows the exact game compilation as the cart 01 from Finland, but it differs from my HOTSHOT Nr. 1. This means that there are different HOTSHOT compilations in Germany... Have a nice day, Simon

Thank you. The artwork is done by Celal Kandemiroglu. He works in the video game developers industry for decades and created artworks for classics like M.U.D.S., the Turrican series, X-Out up to modern hits like Sacred 2. I really admire his work and am happy to present his great picture on my game... Later, Simon
