Hi, the Demo Party "BreakPoint 2008" was held in Germany on the last weekend. I contributed to the "Console/Wild-Competition" with the attached demo "4K4U" (meaning: 4 kilobytes for you) for the Atari VCS. It contains seven demo parts showing graphical effects and a music playing along. The demo reached the 6th place out of 13 competitors... I'm looking forward to your feedback. A limited amount of cartridges is already produced and is available soon. I'll add a website for this production and its sale to http://www.quernhorst.de/atari soon. Thanks, Simon 4K4U.bin

Hi, sorry for bringing this old topic back to life, but I wanted to add a small information... The end label of the cart tells you to switch the console off and on after you selected a new game. You can cycle through the games without switching the console off and on, but the games show bugs then. Switching the console off and on again starts the new game properly. So you have to use the cartridge switch first and the power switch afterwards... Thanks, Simon

Hi, I updated my small websites at http://www.quernhorst.de/atari and added the following: - The RetroGames demo is available for download now. So are Raster Fahndung, Mental Kombat, A-VCS-tec Challenge, Graz2004 and Eurocon2005. - A site for I Project was added with descriptions and screenshots of this development project. - The owner lists were updated. There are still limited copies of Encaved, Raster Fahndung and RetroGames available. - The Shows and Articles sites were updated. Thank you, Simon

Hi, Final ROMs aren't available (as far as I know) for Simon's two games, Sync, Stella's Stocking or Melbourne Tatty. The ROM files of Raster Fahndung are available at http://www.quernhorst.de/atari I have to add the downloads for Encaved, but the PAL file is available from the MiniGameCompo2007 website. It won the second place in the 4k compo. Thanks, Simon

Hi, I'm happy to announce that ENCAVED won the "Silver Joystick" in this year's "4K MiniGame Competition". I *might* add the attached small sticker to the boxes of the remaining copies of the Limited Edition. BTW: I really need to update the owners list and will do that with the next website update around christmas. Thanks, Simon

Hi, attached to this post is the latest version of the development file. The following things were implemented: - Helicopter sound (thanks for suggestion to Thomas Jentzsch) - Graphics flashing in introduction - Horizontal helicopter positions depending on flight level - Wide and narrow holes in the columns - Random generator for the beam which appears on all three levels The label picture (for manual and box, too) was already designed - and believe me: it's going to be a BIG surprise! I'm looking forward to feedback. Simon 14C_IProject_SQ.bin

That's right, it took me some time for a new version of this game... The more important "homebrew project" for 2007 was the birth of our first son Linus. I hope to finish this small game within my christmas holidays, so I'd really like to read your opinions about the current version. Thanks, Simon

Hi everybody, I found the time to continue the game development of my 5th VCS game. I decided to finally call it "I Project". Please find attached two screenshots of the current version: one showing the introduction sequence and one showing the first level. Also attached is the current development version as binary, so you can check it out yourselves. The game is fully playable although nothing is final by now. Colors are going to be changed. The levels are passing so fast because of testing purposes. Some sound effects have to be done or reworked. I'm looking forward to your comments on intro and game. Thanks, Simon 13_igame_sq.bin

homebrew easter eggs? (have they all been found?)
Simon replied to godzillajoe's topic in Atari 2600
Hi everybody, Which game are you talking about, Michael? A-VCS-Tec-Challenge The 2600 Connection published an article about the two secrets (cheat mode and hidden screen) two issues ago. Issue #89 (Sep / Oct 2007). A (tiny) scan of that article can be read here: http://www.quernhorst.de/atari/press.html Thanks, Simon -
Hi everybody, The weekend at this year's EUROCON was great! We had a lot of fun, lots of beers, lots of games, lots of trades. I'm looking forward to the photos... please post your links here. Thanks to the organizers and see you all next year in the south-west of Germany. Best regards, Simon

The spear level of A-VCS-tec Challenge is programmed in stereo, so you can hear if the spear is coming from the left or right side. When reaching the middle of the screen, it's switched. Additionally the spear sound is getting louder when coming closer to the player. So in stereo you hear the spear fading in and out and flying from left to right or vice versa... Best regards, Simon

Hi everybody, I updated my small webpages at http://www.quernhorst.de/atari/ and want to announce the following news: - ENCAVED Limited Edition is available now. You can order complete PAL-copies or updates to Limited Edition (box and bonus stuff) to your already ordered PAL/NTSC-carts from the AtariAge.com store. More information at http://www.quernhorst.de/atari/en.html - RasterFahndung is still available in Limited Edition. About 50% of the Limited Edition is sold by now. More information at http://www.quernhorst.de/atari/rf.html I can combine shipping for Encaved and RasterFahndung of course. - The RetroGames demonstration/game is finished and produced now. It will be released at EUROCON 2007 in Arnhem, the Netherlands in early november. More information and pictures at http://www.quernhorst.de/atari/rg.html - The programming of "I-Projekt" was continued and is making progress. I'll add a webpage for this game somewhen later. Thanks and best regards, Simon

Hi, >> 1) did all 24 levels make it? if not, how many? and is there an ending? There are 23 levels... http://www.quernhorst.de/atari/en.html I won't tell anything about the ending. >> 2) will AA eventually sell the limited edition and if so how long is the wait for that setup? AtariAge is selling carts+manuals. I'll sell complete packs and I'll sell the additional box/stuff to enhance the cart to a limited pack. There are currently no plans that Al will sell the limited boxes, too. I'm currently waiting for the ordered boxes and will print the covers afterwards. I expect to have the items ready in about 10 days. I'll update my webpage then and let you all know. Thanks, Simon

Hi, I found an Atari Stunt Cycle SC-450 on a flea market in Germany last weekend and paid 3 EURO. It contains a stamped "P" on the sticker with the serial numbers and therefore consider it being PAL. Now to my question: I found this old thread about the game's instructions. The link is dead by now - does any of the thread involved people still have the file to share it? Thanks, Simon

Hi, All carts are manufactured by and sold directly through the AtariAge.com store. My own boards and cart shells for "RasterFahndung" didn't work as fine as imagined. Additionally I don't have more cart shells to build the carts myself. Therefore I'm happy that Al is producing the new carts. Best regards, Simon BTW: "RasterFahndung" is still available here: http://www.quernhorst.de/atari

Hi, the binaries are completed (PAL and NTSC). Al is currently testing the files on real hardware. The text of the manual is written and the label and manual design is currently in the works. Al and I except the second week of june for sale. Right, Al? Thanks, Simon

Hi, the production of ENCAVED will be as follows. AtariAge.com is producing and selling all the cartridges (PAL or NTSC) directly through the store to the interested people. For the people who are interested in a limited edition, an additional set of items can be ordered from me. This contains a plastic box with cover (the same as A-VCS-tec and RasterFahndung), an envelope with secret maps, a sewed bag with stitched game logo and a sticker with serialnumber and signature. These limited edition items will be limited to 75 copies. You can then put your cart and manual into the box. We may also sell complete copies of the limited edition through the AtariAge store. What do you think? Thanks, Simon

Hello everybody, after some months of playing videogames instead of creating new ones, I wanted to give you the following update for "ENCAVED": - The PAL version of the game is finished. - I'm currently converting the NTSC version. - The game will be manufactured and sold by AtariAge. We are currently working on the label and manual designs. Thanks, Simon
-
Hello, thanks for your kind words and your support. I'm sorry that the cart is not fitting nicely into everyone's consoles. There are the following options to get it working: - use your 2600junior to play the game. It always plugs in nicely. - open the cart and remove the dust cover. You can insert the pcb or the cart without dust cover then. I hope that you still like the game. Thanks, Simon

Hi, we have got two separate problems: 1) Even if I tested every RasterFahndung cartridge on my systems, there seem to be some problems with fitting the cart into some models of the VCS and 7800. It always seems to fit and work into a 2600junior. So please use these consoles for playing. I used standard Atari cartridges (Big Bird's Egg Catch), so I wonder why these don't fit into all models. I'm not selling more cartridges at the moment, so only the people who ordered a copy by now, have or get a copy. 2) The website http://www.quernhorst.de/atari/ is currently not available due to problems at the hosting company. We try to get it up soon again. Best regards, Simon
