  1. What do you think about the small Soundtrack Cd,which came with the limited edition of "A-VCS-tec Challenge"?

    Which Soundtrack is the best?

I like them all of course, but if I'd to choose one, it'd be the Press Play On Tape version, as it reminds me of attending their great concert at The Party 2000 in Aars, Denmark. :)

I'm interested in other people's thoughts about this topic.

    Thanks,

    Simon

  2. Hi,

How many people on the reserve list, if you don't mind me asking?

For the statistics: 8 copies are left to be paid and shipped, 5 of these customers promised to make the payment soon, this may leave 3 copies to become available again. There are currently five people on my reservation list.

If another copies gets available again, I'll let you know at this place.

    Thanks,

    Simon

  3. Hello everybody,

man i can't wait to get mine :-) hurry up gods of postal deliverance!

Your parcel was shipped on 2006-07-25.

Simon did post them in numerical order I believe... so hopefully it's just taking a while to get over there.

The games were shipped immediately as soon as I received the complete payment...

A few people failed to pay by now. I give them some more days, but afterwards I may offer these copies for sale to the interested people on my reserve list again.

    Thanks,

    Simon

  4. I got my copy yesterday as I was on holiday when it originally arrived. I haven't played the C64 version, so I can't compare, but it is an addictive little game, and a nice addition to the 2600 homebrew scene. The game is very polished, with great graphics and music throughout. There are also some neat touches, like the Atari pyramid on Level 4, and the difficulty ramps up nicely.

    Chris

Thanks for the feedback Chris. Good to hear that by now all people are satisfied with their packs...

BTW: the "Azteca" CD got more interesting lately as Paul Norman's website www.digittarius.com is not available and therefore you can't play Azteca online anymore. I already received some inquiries of people asking for this CD only, but of course: the limted edition items (box, Azteca, Soundtrack, patch) are strictly limited to 55 copies each...

    Simon

  5. Got my copy today. (Economy shipping came through. Phew!) Simon, GREAT JOB. What a well put together package. Your hard work on the project is appreciated.

Thanks for the kind words, Kevin. I really appreciate your feedback. :)

Awaiting some more payments this week and sending out all paid packages. I'm looking forward to all parcels being packed and shipped. :)

  6. Hi,

that looks really different... looks hard :-) i look forward to trying it

I added soundeffects this weekend and playtested the game some more. The last thing to improve is the random generator of the board and the pattern to search for. As a lot of random values are needed the routine needed has to be pretty good, especially to have the cartridge started with different boards each time...

    Thanks,

    Simon

  7. Hi,

Being new here I missed out on the pre-orders and such. Are all these claimed? Is it to late to get the special edition?

All copies are reserved right now. I didn't receive payments from nine people by now and I just reminded them. I may announce any possible availability of these carts later again...

@ Rick: I talked to gambler172 on the phone and he told me that he has got connections to a company in Thailand. I really like the result and think that it makes a nice addition to the whole package.

    Later,

    Simon

  8. Guess it'll be waiting for me when I return from holiday :)

As long as there is someone at your postal address to fetch the parcel for you...

I'll pack some more parcels today and hope that the last payments will appear soon.

As soon as all the packs are shipped we're ready for the unlimited run.

    Later,

    Simon

  9. Hello,

Yeah looks like a great game!! Hope I can get my hands on one for my 2600 vader, what was that again about the 2600 only handling 4 KB and this cart being 8?

The console can only handle 4kb of ROM at the same time. If more ROM is used in the game (in this case 8kb) you have to toggle between the two "banks" of 4kb each. If you have bigger games, they consist of X * 4kb banks between which is switched all the time inside the games routines.

Wow, I've never been told to "be nice and stop swearing" when I just used the phrase "damn you" tongue-in-cheek. Have you not ever had a friend said to you "Damn you, you're such a bastard!" and smile? I do wish you had sent out e-mail updates...

Mate, I sent out reminder emails to all people who purchased my former games and demos. A lot of mails popped back because of not being valid anymore. I didn't know how to spread the news to more interested people other than to post about the release in these forums and to send all those emails - both ways more than two weeks before the release date. Should I have sent personal messages or emails to every forums user here?

BTW: my next game development is already pretty far and if I should decide to make a limited run again, I'll let you know first. :)

    Thanks for your understanding,

    Simon

  10. Hi,

the first eleven packs are shipped today. Please let me know how you like them...

The next approx. ten packs are shipped tomorrow then.

Very nice: canadian radio station "Energie" reported about the game's release yesterday. :)

@MegaManFan: be a fair loser and stop swearing please...

The unlimited run is sold as soon as all limited editions are shipped.

    Later,

    Simon

  11. Hello,

all copies of the limited run are sold now! There were more inquiries than copies available, so there is already a waiting list in case people fail to finish their purchase. I'll remove the ordering information from my website soon.

The new end labels arrived yesterday! So I start packing parcels now...

    Thanks for the support,

    Simon

  12. Hello,

i see the list has been updated. :)

Yes, I try to keep it updated every now and then. I'll update the new version of the list soon again...

Right now 39 of the AC packs are sold which leaves only 16 being available.

IMPORTANT message to all people who already paid: your games are shipped as soon as I received new end labels from Albert/AtariAge, because the new ones look much better. Albert shipped the labels to me on july 7 as EXPRESS and I expect them to arrive within this week.

Please be patient for a few more days.

    Thank you very much,

    Simon

  13. Hi,

31 of the 55 copies were sold within the first hours. I'll list them on my website later today so that you can see who'll get which serialnumber.

I'll get back to you individually for the shipment/payment details.

I'll check my mails this evening again... we'll see how many copies are gone then.

    Thanks,

    Simon

  14. It all worked well for my past releases as individual shipments to anywhere in the world and so I'm sure that it will work this time, too.

No, it didn't. I brought up my beef with you in private, many many moons ago, it got me nowhere. Remember?

I shipped the game just as you paid it (uninsured letter). If I remember correct the parcel was handed roughly by the post and the box inside didn't appear in perfect condition at your home.

I also promised to change the box as soon as all MK-copies were sold out and I knew if a perfect box would be left available for swapping. Even if not all copies are sold (three are still left), I would have offered you to swap the box when I would have gotten your order for the new game. I need the old box back before replacing it (to make sure that no more than 100 boxes are out there).

    Beef? Well done please.

  15. Hello,

Any idea what the cost US$ for the cart and instruction manual will be?

The unlimited run will be available through the stores of AtariAge.com and PackratVG.com. The price will be the same as comparable 8kb carts with manual from these stores.

The unlimited run will be available as soon as all limited copies are sold out, because the collectors spending the money for the limited edition should be able to own and play the game first.

Everyone is free to spent the money for whatever he likes. One wants to get all the bonus items, the other just wants the cart. One prefers new games, the other prefers hacks for example. I know that the price is not cheap, especially because of the currency conversion rate. The limited edition consists of items which weren't cheap too produce. My programming work is not paid. I think that the price equals the price of other comparable homebrew special editions from the past...

    Best regards,

    Simon

BTW: I'm on vacation from june 16 to 30, so I can't post or answer mails within this period.

  16. Hello,

Would the shipping be easier and considerably cheaper if they were sent in bulk?

I ask because then maybe it would be more economical for the purchasers to send the carts to one US location (a central hub if you will...Like maybe Texas) and then from there they could be shipped out to the US buyers?

No sorry, this option is not that good because of these facts:

    - I would have to wait for every single payment in advance before sending the whole package. This means that fast payers would still have to wait for all the others to pay before the parcel is dispatched.

    - Sending big/heavy parcels also raises the interest of the customs and may result in additional costs and bureaucratic hassle.

    - The main contact (like maybe Texas :)) would have to ship the individual items within US which means double postage and double package work.

It all worked well for my past releases as individual shipments to anywhere in the world and so I'm sure that it will work this time, too.

So far all the uninsured letters at cheap rates reached their destinations, but it's your decision of course.

    Best regards,

    Simon

  17. Hello,

thanks to everybody for the kind words. :)

BTW: if anyone's curious why only 55 copies of the limited edition are produced: it's because of the soundtrack CD - the authors of the tracks let me use their musics for free if not more than 50 copies are produced. We negotiated to 55 copies then.

Looks very nice. Costly to the USA thou 46.58 shipping and 69.23 for the product.

    $115.81 total.

15.10 if you go uninsured. ($84.33 total)

is the extra money for the shipping worth it?

Well, I don't know if it's worth it for you, but I don't have any influence on the postage prices. Sorry.

The strong Euro conversion rate makes purchases in US$ quite expensive at the moment... but unfortunately I don't have any influence here too.

    Best regards,

    Simon

  18. Hello,

the release of the limited edition of the new 2600 game "A-VCS-tec Challenge" is near... finally. :)

Please visit http://www.quernhorst.de/atari/ac.html for more information about the release and photos of the produced items.

The current site announces the release date July, 1st 2006. From that date on the ordering is possible and copies are reserved in the order of received emails.

After the limited edition is sold, the unlimited edition (cart and manual) will supply as many copies as requested.

  19. Hi,

the past weekend in Antwerp was great and the exposition was excellent. A lot of aspects of videogaming were covered, new games shown and readings/discussions performed.

We presented retro games on C64 and VCS and the feedback was more than positive.

I found a picture of this machine on the site. Google can't translate Dutch, so I have no idea what it's purpose is, other than to look incredibly scary. :D

That machine is called the furminator. It is a modified Terminator 2 pinball in which you insert your head and enjoy a new playing perspective from directly behind the pinball bats. You control the game with the fire buttons of two joysticks in your hands. Your head is protected by a helmet while five cameras inside the machine film the action and show it on a screen to the watching audience. It was really fun and a whole new perspective for playing pinball.

Also shown was the PainStation. :)

    Later,

    Simon
