Hong Kong is a formerly British colony and was handed over to China some years back. Hong Kong is located in the south-east of China and almost an island. Taiwan is an island located east of China. IIRC opponents of Mao fled to this island and established a democracy there. China never accepted Taiwan as a separate nation and wants it back in their Reich.
