Bastard children bothering you as you play...
fire!fire! replied to DrLove0378's topic in Arcade and Pinball
I know better than to fight a man. I will defend myself, but I have a concealed-carry for that. Been married for 13 years and we don't have problems. We've had words at 10 paces, tho. I did throw tomatoes at him once. BTW I have great and wonderful white-trash roots. I just keep 'em covered. -
Bastard children bothering you as you play...

Now if she would have hit me on the ass, I would have been really pissed! No, she hit me with closed fist, but the side of her fist. It was kind of weird. I took it like a woman and just glared at her and repeated myself. I had to explain at school what happened for over a week because I had a black eye and a cut from her ring. It didn't hurt nearly as bad as the memory of seeing my old horse beaten. I still hate the memory of her. I remember thinking what a puss my Mom was...but the lady was a huge fat woman and she was kind of scary. I think it took my Mom totally off-guard. She's just not a fighter, bless her heart. I was shocked when my Dad said what he said, that she should have hit me twice. Don't mess with my Dad! -

EVIL DEAD II Cart Sale (01/12/07) Done
fire!fire! replied to SalemFrost7800's topic in Atari 2600 Hacks
Oh, DANG. I put off ordering Death Race 2000 because of the AA Holiday Sale. I totally screwed myself! (and didn't enjoy it) It is very cool that you do that for your current customers as appreciation, tho! Soooon I will join their ranks. -
some people have asked why i hoard commons
fire!fire! replied to PressureCooker2600's topic in Atari 2600
I don't want to get rid of commons, either. I would like to start a classic gaming group in my area some day and I would like to be able to have some commons to turn people on to them. I have 192 games. Just like you, I do have duplicate common carts that I have not culled. So that number includes 5 Pac-Mans and 4 Combats. I prob have 170 *different* carts. I have them on one bookshelf, stacked in sets of 12, sorted by company, 6 sit in my game-changer thing, and another 6 sit in a small box next to the console, close at hand. I could prob easily have 500 carts on this one small bookshelf and still have room to shuffle the stacks to look for games. I have a lot of shopping to do....now that I see how many cards I can store. -
Yeah I didn't even bother to list that one. I am going to play it today and see if I still think UGH. I am sure it won't disappoint. Or it will disappoint...?

Welcome! You are going to have a great time with your new 2600. Are you actually in France or just speak French? The closest I get to France is EPCOT her in Florida. There are quite a few people from Germany here that post regularly, and the UK. Not sure how many from France, but there is an international section on this site you should check out.

I like the change - all of a sudden there is a lot going on at once.

I was just going to post that. I also got Indy 500 that came with the controllers, Donkey Kong, Night Driver. The first game I really begged for was Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was so expensive at Eckerd Drugs. They had all these Atari Games hanging behind the counter and you couldn't "touch" them, just look at them. I thought Harrison Ford was so hot, and the movie was my favorite at the time. Shit that was a hard game to play but I played it to death. I had very few games as a kid, my sister was just born, Southern Bell went on strike so my Dad was working as a painter because he was on strike and wouldn't cross the line, and my Mom was not working. So I played the hell out of 5 games and they avoided taking me anywhere that sold games so I was pretty cut off from the world. I have been making up for that over the last few years. I never had an Activision game when Atari came out. Isn't that weird? They made some of the very best games.

The best music is in Gunfight, hands down. I know it is a new game but I can get anyone to play that game with me because of the music. Everyone should have a copy of Gunfight.

I really like the colors. I need to get an adaptor to be able to play stuff like this, but I like to check out the new and creative things people are doing. Hope to see a completed version!

Good, bad and ugly Atari 2600 Arcade Translations

Phoenix on 2600 cart is really great. I like to play Galaxian and Phoenix for the similar concept but different gameplay. They both pretty much stay in my game changer-thing (lol can't think if what to call it) or in a box next to my game area. -
I think I have an extra of the little black combat manuals. I will check and if you need one I can send it to you... Edited: I can't find another 1977 black manual in my manual shoebox, dang it! When I do I will PM you or repost on this topic. SORRY

Just recently purchased Combat and I have a question.
fire!fire! replied to Lynxer2007's topic in Atari 2600
Hey - no problem! I have been wanting to start a classic gaming club in my area, so if that happens I will let you know. I may be even closer to you than I estimated. It takes me a little over an hour to get to Alltel Stadium, and just at one hour to get to the Florida Theatre - my favorite place to go to concerts. I was thinking of a swap meet to get rid of duplicate games and things, and also some competitive playing time. I have an old travel trailer that I am trying to convert into a little mobile 2600 arcade and when that happens I'll have a place we can play until we outgrow it. I knew when I saw your post that you were prob born way after me. I was born in 1973 which put me at my first 2600 in about 4th grade. I thought Combat was state-of-the-art. Also 99 cents is not too much to pay for Combat. I just bought Guitar Hero for a friend for Christmas and it was $49.99 - WTF. I think I will stick to classic gaming, personally! I am glad you can appreciate the 2600! Now you just need to get a Merlin and you will be set.... -

Just don't go visiting anywhere weird and you will be OK. Or at least not weirder than Arkansas! (Just realized where you are from) OH YIKES I hope I didn't offend you! In my mind I was thinking it is such a little state with all these other states jammed against it. It looks kind of squished on the map. And it is weird because of the crazy variants in terrain (random terrain?). I don't know an awful lot about the place, but FLORIDA is one big flat, boring swamp bordered on all sides by the beach - a lot of sameness going on. We don't have plains, mountains or valleys - which is a lot of variety (and kind of weird to have all in one little state.) And the Razorbacks are weird angry red hawgs. The only thing worse is a pissed off green alligator (GO GATORS!!) -

Try having one of your own. You'll get better at this in a hurry. Nooooo. I give you major credit for having a kid & being a good parent. Some of us choose not to have kids, for whatever reason. For myself, I have never wanted to start a family and we have "permanent accident protection" in place. Yesterday we were in a restaurant and a small boy was cutting us in line for drink refills. One of the girls with me said, "Go ahead, honey." - and let him in line in front of her. He looked about 7 years old. He looked at her and said, rudely, "You're not my mother so don't call me honey." and cut us and filled his drink and walked away! WTF? I remembered this thread and thought "little bastard!" I think he was just a puney little boy and maybe was older than 7 but he sure looked little..... I do get what you were saying about being in kid's territory like a kids play area - that is their place so adults are going to have to get that concept. I go to the Disney Parks here in Florida a LOT and that is one place that kids are nuts. I actually love seeing all that mess, confusion, crying and running amok because I expect it. And it is entertaining to watch the kids there. That is *their place*. Just not in a restaurant, doctor's office, library. That is where I have the painful experiences with bad kids! As far as an Arcade...I think a lot of us weren't in Arcades at the age of 5!! Where I lived as a kid, and still do as an adult, the arcade games were at the skating rink and there was not a specific arcade until I was about 8-10 years old. I do remember more "hardcore gamers" being rude to us kids and acting like they owned the arcade. They also were really good and hogged the good games! Then when I got old enough to play really well, they closed the arcade and the skating rink. A few years after that the beloved skating rink became a warehouse and I was paid $25 a week to mop the whole place around the pallets and boxes. I did think as a kid that the "old guys" playing Ms Pac Man were weird - I thought that the "game room" or "arcade" was for us kids. -

Isn't she beautiful...my latest Smurfs purchase, check it out.
fire!fire! replied to Crazy Climber's topic in Atari 2600
The cart is easy to get. It's the KidVid and the tapes that are harder to get let alone a box in that good of shape. Yeah. The light went on in my head when the cart came. -

Hey - I live only about 1-1/2 hours from Orange Park! Did you orignally have a 2600 when they came out or in the 80's? Everyone I knew had Combat so it is weird that you just discovered it recently. I can remember playing with my cousin and being really serious about getting each other's tanks. My husband and I played not too long ago and we laughed like crazy - it is so much fun. But check out the Rarity Guide on Atari Age. Anything that is a 1, 2 or 3 you shouldn't pay very much. Post what you are looking for in the WANTED section of this site and I am sure you will get all kinds of PMs with Night Driver, Asteroids, Defender, Pac-Man and Circus Atari for nothing. I would gladly send you some of those reeeel cheep. -

What a great find! I bought the Smurfs Save the Day cart for a really great deal but then it needs all this crap, too. So I am also on the hunt... -

Centipede on the 2600 kills my thumb. I love it, but am glad I work for a hand surgeon.
