Well, I think people with kids have a different opinion/outlook than people without kids. I don't have kids and don't want them. I don't hate kids by any means but my maternal instinct never formed, I guess. It is rare for me to get so pissed at kids as to refer to them as fatherless bastards. OK, I've never exactly said that....but I have privately thought that people should control their GD kids, or their F-ing kids... But it is quite often that other poeple's kids annoy the hell out of me, especially in restaurants. Boy, my Dad would ask if we were bad..."Do you want a tour of the parking lot?" Not one for idle threats, my Dad. I love him for it now. Also he would tell another parent's kid to SHUT UP or BEHAVE or SIT DOWN in public. And he would say THEN CONTROL YOUR KID WE ARE TRYING TO HAVE A NICE DINNER if the parent told him not to talk to their kid like that. I have been known to reprimand a stranger's kids when they are not around to do so. Sometimes I think kids listen to strangers more than their parents - I can clearly remember other adults gettting stern with me when my parents were not around and I pretty much shaped right up. It does not hurt a kid for a stranger to say GET AWAY. I once had a mother tell me not to talk to her kid like I did. I worked in a dental office and the kid was running in the waiting room and aggrivating everyone. I told the kid, sternly, SIT DOWN NOW. It was a miracle! The kid sat down. And it does seem more often than not that when a kid is with the mother, it is not quite so well-behaved as when the father is there. Once, I said the F word directed at an adult when I was 14 because she abused a horse I used to own. She hauled off and hit me in the face next to my eye. My Mom witnessed it and didn't say shit to her. She just packed us up in the car and we went home. Boy, when my Dad got home from work he nearly hit me again for saying that to an adult and he said she should have hit me twice. DANG! I'm not going to flame you for your post because it made me laugh. Yeah your words are harsh but this country is going to heck perhaps in part because no one can gets kids to respect adults and behave themselves. I know it is a silly video game, jeesh, kids are kids...now GET AWAY.

That's a really cool idea! I had most of the books pictured, long ago. I even did book reports on them in school until the teacher made me switch to other kinds of books. I was quite pissed about that... ...that was in the 4th grade in Catholic school. Talk about no fun... Really can't wait to get this cart.

33 years old here. And I'd like to place an order for the Birthday Mania cartridge in March. That would significantly soften the blow.

I never thought of it that way and I can't remember any other examples. I don't know if I would rather have that happen to me or to fry in Berzerk. Pretty creepy!

I agree that ebay is becoming really expensive. Even as a buyer I have been "stiffed" twice in 2006 on small under $10 items and then in 2005 I was "stiffed" a 2600A. That was a total bummer, and through paypal recovery I only got 1/2 the money back. Thankfully they are not expensive - yea classic gaming. As far as listing fees, they are really getting out of hand. I made the mistake of listing a bunch of duplicate magazine back-issues one at a time and none sold and the listing fees for each put me in the hole! For Atari games I am going to start posting Wanted items or keep checking the Marketplace. When I sell duplicate games I am going to offer them on Atari Age. Right now there is so much in the AA store I want right now - too bad they don't sell old consoles, too......

I recommend three of the best Dr. Who books - I used to have at least 25 as a kid and sold most of them in a yard sale when I got into boys. (OK I should prob tell you I am a girl... ) Anyhow the books are: Keeper of Traken, The Masque of Mandragora, The State of Decay. If you have a chance to pick up any of these books to read they are well worth it. They were some of the very best episodes that I waited to see the next 30 min part each day of the week. Used to come on at 6pm on our Public Access channel (our only TV channel). The books are small paperbacks published on Target Press. Betcha folks are glad I don't have a blog because I am so full of TMI. lol

I never knew that the status of the order was displayed on line. That's cool as hell! I'm not in a hurry, tho. I know I shouldn't admit to this but I bought Reindeer Rescue last year and put it up and never played it. I was reading other people's posts saying what a cool game it was and I realized I never actually played it. So I can play that until my order comes!

Yes the CX-10 feels great - much less stiff than the newer ones. Funny I now have 8 consoles and a ton of different sticks, but the CX-10s are the ones that are broken! One has a hex disc and the other does not. Of course neither of them work, but the one without the hex is fixable. The black and the blue wires are disconnected. I am negotiating with hubby to get them fixed. I would never withhold...dinner... Edited because I can't spell...

Funny you should post this question - I just picked up a 6-switch also and the colors are wrong, too! Galaxian went from pinks and purples to greens and yellows mid-game. Glad it is something fixable. The new console I bought is really dirty and looks like it was heavily used (or should I say ENJOYED)

I think the Sunnyvale 4-switch units are neat looking with the yellow writing on them instead of the orange. I had one pictured as my Avatar. I don't play it as often because the game select switch is broken - it works but it sometimes skips games which is a pain sometimes! OH WELL! Good luck selling your item!

I asked the same question recently and was told that the one with the Atari logo was the original that came with the Heavy 6-er. I have purchased 2 Heavy 6-ers and both were shipped with CX-10s and the Atari logo paddles. YAY they are very cool looking!

Well, I feel bad I just never read the blogs at all. I have seen them but didn't know what to make of the ones that I have clicked on. WHOOPS! I do like to look at the Homebrews and the Hacks sections but so many are not real carts offered, they are bins, or ROMs or whatever. Ok I sound old and ignorant but I am glad this was listed in the Hacks area and is a real CART. I can't wait to get it. I still have my Dr. Who hoodie with the 5 doctors on it and the Picture Disk (vinyl record) from the 1984 convention I went to. I am still a sci-fi geek, too. SCARY.

I have 62821G Heavy 6-er purchased from ebay. It came with 2 of the "fuji" paddles and one CX-10 (missing the hex) and 3 CX-40s. And a whole lot of dust...

I was given an Adventure cart by a friend or I took it and never gave it back - can't remember...but it is funny I never really noticed or thought about the simple "player" representation...the square. It didn't have to look like a person or a creature or anything. The castles and dragons were cool, the sword was sword-like. I don't have a clue about programming or how hard the game was to make or anything, but I enjoyed playing Adventure.

Whoops wrong hair dye (12/29), the Donald Duck 500 piece puzzle I got for Christmas which I actually have started working on (WTF) or today's husband-truck-battery problem...yes I traded cars with him today and my truck had a dead battery. (This was my husband's face - ) So I have a rash on my scalp, I am going to set fire to a harmless puzzle, and it is BJ nite tonite. | Then again, SOME of the blog might be of interest.....

I have one 4-switch made in Taiwan by "Atari Wong Corp", a light 6-switch by "THW Electronic Components" in Taiwan, a 4-switch by "Taiwan William Computer Manufacturing", my original 4-switch made by "Wong's Electronics" in Hong Kong, and a Heavy 6er & 4-switch made in Sunnyvale, CA. Also I have a Sears 6-switch made by "Dimerco Electronics" in Taiwan. I have the hunch that the production went from The USA to Hong Kong and then to Taiwan. I know my Hong Kong 4-switch was bought in 1982-83.

I still have my 2600, too. My sister was born in 1982 and with the 9-1/2 year age difference she was poised to take it. In fact she did take my Atari and I think the only reason I got it back was because she thought it was broken. Of course she would have given it back sooner, but I hated to ask her for it. I had bought another one already. So when she thought my OLD one was broken, I bought her one & took the old one to try and fix it. I plugged it in and it worked I had to share some of the games with her but at least they are still in the family. Unfortunately my parents thought the original box was too big so they exchanged it for a Revere Ware box for pots and pans. But at least they did not sell my old console at a yard sale.

Galaxian has a cool title page after you die. I think Yar's Revenge does the best Atari Plaid!

Yes it is a very corny way to play River Raid and not practical at all, but I have been trying this new joystick I got on all kinds of games and some games do not allow the rapid fire to work. I got this joystick in an auction that had several all together. Kind of a pot luck. Just never seen one like this before and trying it on all the games I have. Not really suggesting this is the way to play River Raid since my high score with this joystick on rapid fire is a whopping 5840.
