I wish more of the homebrews came with boxes. I bought Thrust + Plat. just because it had a box and I thought that was special. Turns out it's very very cool! I can only imagine they are expensive to make and I don't have a problem spending the extra money. I would certainly pay more for games with boxes. (hint, hint) To put all this in perspective I have a Pac-Man box with a Caldor price tag of $33.70. :!: Our parents paid a high price back in the 80's for our games that we begged for. Considering inflation, etc 20-something years later - I have paid less than that for homebrews this year!

I like the sounds on this game. Can't play it until I get that adaptor thing but I'm working on it!

I just bought a new handgun AND ordered Phanton II/Pirate from the AA Store Cake and eat it too! WP Somehow I knew no one would feel my pain! Didn't think I would be one-upped, tho!

I dropped $134 and my husband retaliated by finding a new handgun he wants. I got Lady Bug, Phantom II/Pirate, Blip Football, Space Battle, ET Book Cart, and of course Toyshop Trouble. When I get paid Friday I'll pick up the new 7800 games and Stickie Notes. We will be eating a lot of rice around here. All week I've eaten cheese sandwiches for lunch, and I passed up happy hour tonite. OH not to mention I have to buy a 7800 to play these games on... *Trying* to warm hubby up to the Atari. I plan to get Stickie Notes with the words to one of the songs he wrote. The song was written in 1983 so that seems very fitting. He seemed flattered so we shall see.

Ah! DUH - I've never ran an Atari program on the computer before...I had to do a little homework to figure it out but being a River Raid fan, Death Race 2000 is just too cool. I'll order it on payday. Thanks! Bummer I don't have a way to play the .bin file right now.

Oh man, you would have to do this when all the new carts for 2600 on Atari Age are coming out! Is there anywhere I can see screen shots from any of your games? I want to buy one but I don't know WHICH one I want. Thanks

I was born in the early 70's and I have fond memories of going roller skating, loving ELO, and playing Centipede on the arcade games at the roller rink when they played all the Couples Songs to skate to. Ewww. Also during Limbo I was back at the arcade games. Then I got my Atari in the very wee 80's. It was more of a priviledge back then to have personal time with the T.V. when Mom and Dad weren't on it. And we appreciated the technology back then. I know the games are fun for everyone and I am glad the teenagers and 20-somethings of today enjoy them. I just feel, as someone else said a few posts ago, that the feeling runs deeper with those of us over 28-30 and the younger set can't argue that. *fondly looks over at her Atari*

When you are finished with it, you can continue with Jammed. Yeah I was looking at that one this weekend and I think I'll pick it up. I'll let you know what I think when it comes in. I have Swoops which is a great batch of games and has a really nice manual. I recommend that game for both playing and for the look of the cart/manual combo. Bet it would have had a great box....

I got the Atari 2600 for Christmas the year we moved into the country and I lost all my friends to play with. It was a fair trade. I only had about 5-6 games for a while and I played Donkey Kong every day. I had Indy 500, Combat, Pac-man, Donkey Kong, Air-Sea Battle, Night Driver and eventually got Raiders of the Lost Ark. That was waaaay back when a family only had one T.V. so I could play Atari for about 30-45 minutes after school before my Dad got home. I could also play on the weekends when nothing else was on, but I never could play for hours and hours. I have great childhood memories of playing Atari all by myself or against my cousin when she would come over. That was the best Christmas gift I got in the '80's. I think my Big Wheel was the big '70's gift that I loved. Still have the Atari....I also wish I had more games when I was a kid but it's OK because I have them now!!!!

I have Xenophobe which I am surprised to say is a 7 in rarity. I got it along with 5 or so other red label cards for under $15. Weird that there is one boxed on ebay right now with a 99 cent starting bid. Wonder if it is really a 7?

I am much more attached to the Homebrews that I have in my collection than any other games because I feel like they were made for ME. Just like going out and seeing bands in town that play original music. I don't play the Homebrews as often as I play my older games, tho. I'm extremely attached to Crazy Valet! I wonder about the value of games also. But only in the terms of investing in a fireproof safe for them!

I don't want to play the new games and systems. I am really not a gamer I guess. I still have my first system (and have acquired a few others...) and I still have my original games, and some that I didn't have way back when. Before I found the Atari Age site I just kept playing the same 20 games that I had on hand. I just really like playing them and when I see the ads on TV for the new games I am not interested at all! Now I like to buy homebrews and a few times a year I will splurge on that, especially at the end of the year when I know the Holiday Cart is coming out. I guess I am trolling ebay right now waiting for the Holiday Cart. I don't know what to do with myself! Also I just bought the Haunted Adventure Trilogy because it looks really really cool. Otherwise I just want to play my old games... The poll would be interesting! But I also think the original Atari owners would win out.

For me when the games really got cheap I was at that weird age when Mom and Dad weren't buying so much for me because I had an allowance and baby-sat so they wanted me to learn to save for what I wanted. So I spent my money at the arcade and at the movies with friends. DOH!

Very belated THANKS for posting this. I have been wondering about downloading games that aren't on carts to play on the PC...this helped a lot! Bummer I am not very good with computers! I did take one programming course - in about 1985 - on a TRS-80. The only part of programming I remember is CH$. Back then I was really good! I could make my name scroll all over the screen! Funny everyone says my Atari 2600 is so old-school but I remember sitting at a TRS-80 playing Space Invaders. Everything was all Xs and Os to make up the images. And I would go home to my high-tech Atari and think how very lucky I was......

OK..jeesh. Didn't mean to start a political discussion, but I have been a registered libertarian for 12 years & one of my favorite reading subjects happens to be our Founding Fathers, how our country was started and the 2nd Amendment (the one that makes all the rest possible) . OH that is all 2nd to Atari. Maybe I can start working on a Homebrew of Paul Revere's Ride....

Ok I must be very back-wards because I have been looking for this A-team game since reading your post...but I guess it is not a real cart? I'm going to have to get out more often. If I can't plug it into my Atari I just don't know how to play it.

Hey WP, There is no need to hide the threads. I have no problem having written the worst game of all time. I also wrote Yars which most consider one of the best games so I figure as long as ET holds the bottom I have the greatest range of any designer in history. Besides, how bad can it be if we are still talking about it? Well, maybe that isn't such a clever take on it. Yar pal, HSW OH I just was on your website and saw that you wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark. My mom bought that for me in Eckerds Drug Store. I think it was over $20 which was a lot. Really had to beg for it! I played it every day but sadly it was really hard for me. I had to flip to the end in the helpful hints/cheating section...I tried not to do that but I was only about 12 years old and just not very bright I guess. I really enjoyed the games you wrote and still do. Still have all my games and my system - and I am in my 30's. YIKES! Time to buy E.T. - my parents got tired of buying games after Raiders - I'm sure I will like it! So when's your next game coming out...?
