  1. I also wrote Yars... WOW! Thank you for writing Yars! I love everything about that game, especially the PLAID! Yars, River Raid and Galaxian are my favorite games of all time. I'm going to go play Yars RIGHT NOW.
  2. YES I have a 2600 that I bought for my nephew before he was born...just waiting for him to get a leeetle older. He's 2-1/2. When I got my Atari they had just really come out...at least I had just seen one for the first time...but we live in a small town. My sister was a baby then. She was born in 1982. Got it for CHRISTMAS. It had a royal place under the TV. WOW! I knew while I was at school my sister messed with my Atari - wish I had encouraged her but it was all HANDS OFF back then. She grew up in the Nintendo era. Just can't wait to give my nephew his Atari. Thanks for sharing - I have numerous consoles - maybe I should come off another one for another friend's kid. HMMMMM
  3. WOW I only hear "atari" when I say it!
  4. Yeah I saw that on TV with a room full of Green Bay fans. Every time I see one of your auctions I think about it. Wasn't that the wildly debated CATCH and the rule change debate? YOU WERE THERE? Dang.....
  5. Yeah you do have a lot of watchers. My hand is over my eyes and I may have to close my paypal account until the auction is over.....
  6. WOW! Very cool. I will watch the auctions that won't wipe out my checking account! Still never seen a sealed Atari since Christmas 1982!
  7. Yeah I have never ever seen one unopened! And it would be very very hard to not open it....LOL...temptation and all... Just wondering if anyone ever saw an unopened one and what it went for. Hard for a Tampa Bay BUCS fan to give that kind of cash to a RAMS FAN anyhow!
  8. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-ATARI-2600-SYSTEM-...51377QQcategory Not sure I have EVER seen this kind of price tag! Any thoughts?
  9. LOL! on ebay I saw one auction not too long ago with a game called RIVER RIDE. It was a game where you fly a plane and shoot helicoptors, ships and bridges.....
  10. No one I know has one! Dang that would be a very moldy room here in Gainesville. More like if you put your trailer on stilts the best you can do is park your car under there - not store anything. LOL. Hope the museum is not around any of the coastal areas seeing as how the weather has sucked for us lately. But it is very cool to know there is one. I hoard all my stuff.... =)
  11. Being a GIRL I've got to give my opinion. I agree with whoever said earlier that the Frogger music is really annoying. I can tolerate the game on the really challenging setting, but I rarely ever play the game. I do love River Raid which was also written by a woman. I would think us girls would really like the shooters. (You know the president of the NRA is a woman - woo hoo!) I love Galaxian and play that one almost every day. Turmoil and Asteriods are also big faves of mine. I have to admit I do like Centipede but then I played that a LOT at the Arcade when there wasn't a wait to play it. Any gals out there like Yar's Revenge and Stampede?
  12. Yeah I did email and they truly think that they packed it well. It had a little bit of that hair-thin foam paper around it (not covering the corners) and then the games on top, and then the joysticks and paddles with wadded plastic grocery bags around them. In a very very small box. When I picked up the box I thought that it was something different, the last game I got off ebay was in a much larger box to allow for packing materials. No, when I emailed (very nicely I may add) they said just that they wished they could see the damage in person so they could help me with the super-glue. Since I have 10 good fingers (on 2 good hands) I think I got the super-glue thing under control. It really could have been much worse, and I can tell these people are just those garage-sale hunters that go around and buy stuff to list on ebay. They don't understand what we feel about these old games. Then again neither does my family......
  13. There is a lot of Nostalgia involved! I have all the same carts I got in the early to mid 80's and the same 2600 (OK plus 4 others....but who's counting) and for the most part the games are pretty cheap to pick up. Hell, we never got our hands on the rare carts back then, you know young kids tend to play the more popular games and what we were playing in the arcades; I just played what I could get at Eckerd Drugstore. Except I paid $35 for Raiders of the Lost Ark back then and now you can get it for under $5! Also it is really simple. I am really computer stoopid (I still can't seem to get the Z26 Emulator to work on my computer) so it is nice to have a switch that says GAME or TV. The only problem is that back in '82 I could ask ANYONE to come over and play and they were like, "YOU HAVE AN ATARI?!?" (Awe and respect in their voice...) And now they are like, "You have an Atari?" (Disbelief and wonder in their voice...)
  14. WOW! Thanks Rich for the interesting link. Today I was playing my new 2600 and the game select switch was skipping numbers - it was kind of like trying to stop a gas pump right at $10 LOL. Always goes to $10.01. Gonna keep that thread for future use, I think I will need it.
  15. ooooohh. The person in the auction said "I am not a video game person" Boy do I feel sorry for them....you would think finding a collection like that at an Estate Sale (which only happens to non-gaming people) they would at least TRY IT.
  16. Yep and it came with the Gargamel's Castle cart also as a bonus which is very cool along with the free shipping. I had been watching this auction for days and yep I sniped it! I hope they don't feel out of place with my common cart collection LOL! 3 copies of Combat...at least I don't have ET....
  17. YES! It works great, and it is really cool to see the difficulty switches on the front. I play more games on NOVICE than I thought. And all the joysticks look brand new and all the games work. Dang! Mindfield: that is terrible what happened to you! I just have a flaw on an otherwise cool machine. Guess I should not be complaining...and it did cross my mind that the USPS might not want to pay for a poorly packaged item. Get this - it was in a very small box with Publix shopping bags wadded around stuff. Sheesh......
  18. Did you see the FOOTBALL game last nite? The Patriots were in TURMOIL after they lost to the Saints, and the Fans went BERZERK! It was a total CIRCUS at my house!
  19. I just received my new beautiful heavy-sixer in the mail and the dingleberries didn't wrap it in bubble-wrap! How could someone list something knowing that it is old and wonderful and in perfect pristine shape and not wrap it carefully!?! It has a half-inch chunk broken off the sexy black front curve! WHY WHY WHY? What really bites is that if I turn in an insurance claim the post office says they confiscate my game in return for the insurance money. Is it just the red-neck in me that is getting out the super-glue and keeping the damaged goods? Or the Atari Lover? OK thanks for listening, I just had to vent. I encourage everyone to remind/ask the seller to wrap our classic gaming consoles really carefully. Seems sad that we have to tell them such a simple concept.
  20. I really can't stand BERMUDA TRIANGLE by Data Age. The sounds are funny for just a few games (and after a few beers) but not for long. Completely agree that ATLANTIS by Imagic is a disappointment. As far as Taito/Coleco, FRONT LINE is not very interesting to me. I just can't get the hang of it but other people like it.
  21. BERZERK and DRAGONFIRE. I am terrible at both but I love the zzzzap of Berzerk. My Dragonfire high score is a very frustrating 640. I play GALAXIAN every single day, but not today yet. My high score on that is 16,600. I know that is not so good for someone playing daily, but SO WHAT?!?!?!??! =)
