I agree with the OP. It does seem odd that piracy type topics are not allowed in the Jaguar forum, but allowed in the other areas of the site. While I respect developers who don't wish for there work to be pirated (in the case of BS), but what about Checkered Flag? Cybermorph? Club Drive? As previously stated, this site HOSTS ROMS (if that isn't piracy, I don't know what is) for other systems. But not the Jaguar. I think Dr. is accurate that it is hypocritical to limit information and discussion on the grey areas of the Jaguar. With the recent exposure from AVGN and new development from the skunkboard, I imagine this scene is going to get bigger. New people are not going to tolerate the old rules this community used to abide by. As seen in this topic, very few people seem to support the old ways of zero tolerance. The Jag scene in general is a very small and dedicated group. It is definitely a special place to be a part of, but I don't think it can survive let alone grow, with the current mind set. I think topics like backing up should be allowed.

Finally beat it. The last race is Week 7 Day 4 in case anyone out there wants to know how close to the end they are. This is a decent little game, but the difficulty is all over the map. I took me 10+ tries on a few of these races, a few others I finished with over a minute to spare.

Still trucking along. The final pair of cars arrive at $14k. You have the choice between a Ford RS Cosworth ($12k) or a Toyota Celica CT-4 ($14k). Hoping to finish this game today...

Well I finally got past Week 3, Day 1 with less than 3 tenths to spare. Once you have more than $10k, a screen will show up allowing you to buy a Vauxhall Astra 16V or a Renault Clio Turbo. ($10k and $8k)

Its 1993, you're in charge of the Jag, what do you do?

I vote sarcasm. -
Sorry to bring up an ancient post... but it seemed appropriate. I am up to week 3 in this game and have hit a wall. The little mini doesn't seem to have what it takes to beat this level (though I am pretty damn close). So after 45 minutes of not getting past the first race in week 3, I check the manual. It shows that in week 3, if you have enough money, an option will appear to purchase a new car. However, it does not seem possible that you could ever save enough money to buy a new car. I restarted my game, doing no repairs to try and save money. This does not work either, as a damaged car is too slow. I tried playing through again collecting all the money on the track. Again, at $250 per item, there is just not enough. So how the heck are you supposed to have enough money to purchase a new car in week 3 to remain competitive? Is everyone just beating the game with the mini? Or am I missing something? Thanks.

It looked fine on my 42" LCD with s-video. A controller extension would be nice so I could sit a little farther back. But if you are sitting right in front of the screen it's going to look very pixelated. I still prefer to play the jag on a standard def CRT though.

To me, the 32x is a lot like the Jaguar. Both are often overlooked and ridiculed, even though few people haven played either, let alone given them a chance. Both are far more powerful than the games developed for them suggest. As others have stated, it would be interesting to see what developers could have done with these systems if they really tried. The 32x had a resolution of 320 x 224. The Jaguar in theory could run at any resolution. Though it appears most games ran at 320 x 240? Someone with more technical knowledge could probably confirm or elaborate (Gorf?). Anyway, both look similar to me on a 32" CRT television (32x with composite and Jaguar with composite and s-video). The 32x does not look like ass at all. The 32x actually puts out a great composite image. Games have always looked sharp on my television. I'd agree with you there. I have played most of the 32x library and none of the games feature any of the crisp voice samples I've heard in Jaguar games. Even the voices in Virtua Racing sound muffled and compressed. Knuckles Chaotix does have a great sound track, though I don't think it takes advantage of the 32x sound hardware. I'm playing Super Burnout right now, and it sounds CD quality, amazing stuff. I am not saying the 32x is better than the Jaguar, or vice versa for that matter. I have enjoyed both systems immensely and both offer a good gaming experience.

Agreed. Finally, after 15 pages of posts, lol. -
You should do s-video as well. Since it's the same encoder as a genesis model 1, it's pretty easy. That is next on my list for this summer's projects I have another Master System on route for that very purpose. Relisted at $19.99 with no reserve. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=150350506376

I am putting up one of my modded Master Systems and duplicate games on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=150349084266 The controllers are in great shape and had the protective film on them till I peeled it off for this auction. Thanks for looking!

The load times are a bit overblown. I own a Neo Geo CD and many games, like Puzzle Bobble (Bust-A-Move) have only one initial load time and that's it. This is especially true for the older games. Most games have reasonable load times (10-20 seconds between levels) on par with the Playstation and Saturn. The later fighting games are a nightmare though, stay away

I think Neo Geo fans are as dedicated as Jaguar fans, hehe. Each have their place in history (and my gaming collection).
-
Same here, the only Atari console I own is the Jaguar. I have a weird thing for the consoles that bridged the gap between 2D and 3D (32x, 3DO, Jaguar). I doubt I'll ever own any of there other systems. Overpriced? Maybe... Overrated? No way!

EGM2 Volume 1 Number 5 November 1994 - Jag goodies. :)

Any chance of posting that "Exclusive Hands on Test of New Neo-Geo CD System"? I know it's not Jaguar related... but please! -
Awesome portable Jag, even better then Ben Heck's http://benheck.com/atari-jaguar-64-bit-portable Nice collection man, my rarest Jag item is an official s-video cable, lol.

I am not an expert but I doubt it. The only game that I am aware of that had a 16x9 option at that time was Virtua Fighter on the 32x...

I actually found this at a local game store a couple weeks ago for $20, cart only. I was very excited to see this game out in the wild. But I played for a couple hours and just could not get into it. Like most suggested, I played as the predator. I just found it difficult and boring. I could get past the dated graphics and poor frame rate, but it just didn't hold my attention.
