I can't find this one in my stella archive. I guess that means I'll be sitting this week out 😭

Have managed to get a just about respectable score at mountain king.
Have got a big improvement at California games too. Am amazed at the scores the top players are getting at this. I also love the game itself. Many of the late 2600 releases were bad to the point of seeming like a parody (Commando and Double Dragon spring to mind here), and trying to port some of those titles to the 2600 just highlighted how far the world had moved past the by then ancient system.
But this is one of a few (Kung Fu Master and Klax being others imho) that managed to somehow squeeze a decent version of games designed for much more powerful hardware into the 2600. Sure, the graphics and sound of all of those three is way behind some of the other versions, but I'm not sure that the 2600 versions are actually any less fun their more powerful cousins.
And actually, I prefer playing the BMX event on the 2600 far more than the prettier commodore 64 version...............which is why I'm going to keep at that one and try and crack 40k.......doubt I will manage that though 😭

And here's an actual score for pitfall 2. I'd completed the game before, but this is an improvement on my previous best.
I'll see if I can improve further over the next couple of weeks (this one is a real favourite of mine so I will definitely be playing again), but I suspect perfection is likely to be beyond me 😭

For what it's worth as a relative newbie, I'd agree with this. We have a lot of players at different levels, and insisting on people finishing the game could make submitting a score inaccessible for many. I'd personally much rather have as wide a participation on the scoreboard as possible, rather than taking a "purist" approach and effectively locking people out

Wow, it looks like I have just topped a high score chart on HSC for the first (and let's face it, probably only😂) time. I know it's only the bonus game, but I'm going to milk this one for all it's worth 🙂🙂

Season 11 ~ Week 14 and 15 ~ A Trip to the Mountains!

Fair play to you for posting it on a couple of points. Firstly for making a clear how you've played, and giving people the opportunity to protest if they feel it not in the spirit of things. Fwiw, my own take is that it isn't quite in the spirit of things, but Zilch is probably right that you haven't actually done anything wrong here given the parameters of the game, so there's no reason not to let the score stand. The game should really have been written in such a way that the event ends if the timer reaches zero. But it wasn't, and you played within the rules as they are
Secondly (and perhaps more importantly), seeing that those kind of scores are achieved only by playing that way reassures me that I'm not going mad 🙂. I really enjoy this one, and have probably ended up playing it more than most of the games in the HSC. I got to about 38,000, which I thought was pretty good. Then I saw a couple of scores way into the 40s, and thought they would have to be something close to perfect runs. Then I saw these really big scores and just thought , how ?!?!?!?!?!
And now I know, so thanks !. Personally I just haven't got the patience to rack up a score in that way . . .not least as I think the game is too much fun, and I wouldn't last long at all before the temptation to play in a more conventional way would just get too much
