6 hours ago, Blazing Lazers said:Similarly, how does this sort of thing affect PayPal or Venmo transfers? If somebody sends me money, or if I send someone money, has a tax situation been created? What if the money is flowing between Countries? I don't even want to have to think about these sorts of things, let alone actually have to account for them.
I read in the article that only transfers for " goods and services " will get hit, but transfers under " gift / friends family " will be exempt ... but who knows, that could change too

I feel like this article has some relevance to this thread, here is the link https://runningwithmiles.boardingarea.com/paypal-payment-network-reporting-stimulus-bill/
Here is a preview
"Buried in the new stimulus bill is a provision that will change how PayPal and other third party networks will issue tax forms to you – and the amount has dropped significantly.
If you use PayPal to receive payment for goods and/or services (like eBay transactions, Facebook marketplace, etc) or any similar platform, you will find a new change coming, courtesy of the just-passed stimulus bill.
New Reporting Requirement for PayPal and Other Platforms
Note that I am not a tax or financial professional and am not providing advice for financial or tax purposes. If you have questions about this, check with your accountant or tax professional.
What is the Reporting Requirement for Third Party Platforms?
This will apply to all third-party payment platforms but PayPal is the one that likely affects many of us the most. This will also mean for platforms like Etsy, etc."
--------------------------------------
The current IRS reporting law for these platforms is that they only had to provide a 1099-K tax form to users if they processed more than $20,000 and 200 transactions in a year. So, if you sold $40,000 worth of stuff on eBay in one year but only in 150 transactions total (as processed by PayPal), you would not receive a tax form from PayPal (except in a couple of states).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"What Does This Mean?
So, what exactly does this mean? It means that, for returns beginning next year, third party network platforms like PayPal will be issuing forms and reporting to the IRS for all accounts if the transactions exceed $600 for that year. Fortunately, they did make the clarification that this will only apply to things that are categorized as “Goods or Services” as opposed the “Friends and Family” option with PayPal.
Why will this matter? It will likely affect a lot of people who had just listed some old stuff around their house on eBay that they were no longer using as getting over $600 will now trigger a 1099-K form. Also, it means that if use any third party payment network for anything, it will now be automatically reported if it is over $600 meaning you had better make sure you have all your receipts to show your deductions against that sale price!
This little addition to the stimulus bill will likely bring in a ton of tax money that was not being reported on before this. But, it will catch many people flatfooted if they were not aware of this and they get a tax form for clearing out old things from their house or selling an old computer to fund a new one, etc."
--- As a reminder, this is set to kick in starting January 1, 2022. ----

My school was all Apple, and they did start getting IIgs's while I was there, not sure if they count as 16-bit machines.
Commodore tried with the Pet in the early early days, and I believe later on with the Commodore 16. but I don't think they ever tried with 16 bit stuff, plus I think by the time Atari and Commodore where dabbling in 16 bit, Apple had a strong arm on the school market.

I grew up in Danvers Massachusetts. the K-5 when i was a kid ( 1983ish ) had the Apple IIc I remember doing logo.... and maybe someone here knows, it was a game called Apple / Open Apple like either an outline, or solid apple would drop and you had to press the apple or open apple keys to drop it down a hole lol... LOVED print shop, Conan, and Chivalry, I vaguely remember playing a text vampire game, and a text knights/castle game.... I think we did stuff in appleworks but I dont remember. -

He was a musician, played keyboard and trumpet, but was mainly into big band type stuff. To this day we were blown away finding a Deep Purple record in there (pretty heavy stuff in it's time, and yes we're old).
Makes sense. Jon Lord the keyboard player was classically trained, and Ritchie Blackmore is considered to be the father of Neoclassical rock, Many Neoclassical players like Yngwie Malmsteen credit blackmore and Uli Jon Roth from very early "scorpions" with starting the style.
Anyone into big band is going to know their music, You Grandad had taste. Im super into metal and all the way on the other end with techno and stuff... but the first CD I ever got, and wanted was when i was 15 .. lol and I still have it-

Im not a huge Genesis head, but there is a handful of games I do like. I think I wouldn't notice it on cannon fodder, and would certainly hear it on Devils Crash or Sonic. Ive been seeing them for around 40$ with shipping on ebay. Almost bought one but I keep hearing about the sound issues and wanted to see if it was youtubers making it a bigger deal for laughs, or if it really was painful to deal with .
Thanks everyone 😃 -
I recently got the AtGames Atari portable and I really like it. I saw they have a genesis version of this, but after watching the Rerez video about the Genesis console AtGames made im worried about the portable emulating the games as poorly as the console did .. has anyone tried the at games portable?

It's a personal issue; keep it that way. And if you don't like the response you received, make better decisions in the future.
Ok captain self important, ill keep that in mind the next time I'm trying to impress you. does this forum have a block feature?

Are you his lawyer? LOL, If its that important to you, the whole thing started as Emailing because he got some info wrong and my dad actually made whatever it was he was talking about, I was really nice about it and he replied in the most dick way, its been so long, and it was so insignificant I don't remember the actual product... it would have been a parker brothers product, i know that much. Its all documented in the comments section of one of his video's , he even posted the private email between us in the comments .. I have to much going on to research a four year old tiff between me and David.. but if its that important to you, and you have nothing else going on. its all in one of his youtube video comment sections.. Have at it.

I'm a Playstation guy since the non-analog PS1 and the xbox controller feels strange to me. Just my opinion, its perfectly fine for everyone else. BUT that old xbox is fantastic as an emulation box. I started using Forcebox but I found I was constantly trying to remember what color button was in what position. Not ever having Xbox growing up its not second nature to me. I bought a bunch of PS3 button mod kits in the xbox button colors.. and it really helps... I sold one to this guy a while back and he made this video

I think I really depends on what it is. I pull the clock cap on every 2003/2004 xbox I work on because It is going to leak. Same with TG16 portables. but ive never thought to recap an Apple IIe or TI99...
I think the fine line really is if its a known issue, nothing wrong with nipping it in the bud. but if everything is working and there is no known issues, leave it alone till it needs something.

If its going to power on, YES
If you care about leaving it on a shelf and not corroding the board , YES
If its just a shelf piece you are never going to turn on and don't care how the board looks , NO
Cap juice is gross and destructive... I haven't met a TG16 portable that didn't thank me after a good recap lol

Im looking more for a true to the Apple II port Circa 84/85 that will print the final picture... OR will display the final picture so I can screen grab it... I just found a certain nostalgic charm to those signs and now I have a son of my own who is into the stuff a bit thought it would be fun to make keep out signs for his room like I did in the 80's .... sans that AWESOME Imagewriter print noise!

I loved Printshop on the IIc as a kid. I still fire it up in my emulator just to look at the graphics and borders and whatnot ... Is there any emulator the somehow allows modern printers to print printshop signs, or cards or like a modern fan made rendition of printshop. Seems like something my nerd generation would love with all the old is new again going on.
thanks everyone 😃-

Random question, is it possible, and if so its there a place to find them... Has anyone ripped gameboy roms through the supergameboy to produce a file that would be playable on a CFW SNES mini... I really wanted to play links awakening.

11 hours ago, Allan said:Do you remember getting any Atari 800 games through Parker Bros., verses getting Atari 2600 (VCS) games? Any specific memories of them if so?
Before the games crash no. I had an atari and a coleco, so thats all he came home with.. When the games crash hit he would bring home anything he found video game wise in the dumpsters. I know he brought home an 800 computer itself ( no drives or peripherals to run games ) , and some wico's one day. and I do remember him bringing home games I didnt have systems for but I dont remember what they were.. more than likely if I didnt have the system I didnt care ... 10/ 11 year old logic lol , either i didnt commit it to memory cause it was useless to me, or I gave them away. but they did have 800's there for my dad to take home, so I have to assume they packaged the games too.

4 hours ago, carlsson said:If all the electronics were outsourced, does that mean that different games on the same system and in the same era, may have different type PCBs and mappers? I'm not into the 2600, but recognize that Parker Bros published games for a number of systems, both consoles and home computers which would mean they had to source a lot of manufacturers unless they outsourced all the nitty gritty work to one single electronics manufacturer.
My pops said the carts for all the systems arrived in the salem plant in a box, no labels instructions or boxes... just black carts. the salem plant would make the books, my dad made the boxes, and they had a line that put the labels on the carts. Then another machine took all 3 parts put them together and shrinkwrapped them. I " think " the game deal came through Coleco. Coleco bought Parker brothers in 83 ish... might have been kenner too... once companies bought parker brothers, they would dump the manufacturing onto them they themselves didnt want to deal with . I remember they dumped the cabbage patch kids on parker brothers simply because printing birth certificates with a new name for each doll was a daunting task in 1984.... so let parker brothers deal with the headaches.... It really was the beginning of the end for what was once a small family run company that had been there since the turn of the century .... in 1993 Hasbro bought parker brothers , shut down all the american plants and sent it all to china
The salem plant was an unrenovated since it was built building, old wood floors, sketchy looking elevator. it was warm and smelled like hotglue, the thing I remember most is 5 foot tall 2x2 foot boxes of monopoly houses, hotels, and those colored player pieces with the ball on top of a cone shape from like sorry and clue and NO SAFETY MEASURES. my mom and I would just walk in to give my dad lunch or something... no one cared. It wasn't a high tech place. there was no way they were making PCB boards lol ..-
