  1. After 43 years of use my ungar 9000 soldering station no longer works. The heating element went out. Back in the early 80's Bench top soldering Stations were very expensive. back in the mid 1984 went the 130xe came out people were pulling traces. The 130xe required really good soldering skills and temp controlled equipment. Thanks in advanced Steve
  2. Hi Santosp! I Misses this bit of hardware myself. I would love to get one or two of them myself. Let me know if I can still get one. Thanks Steve
  3. I gave you the wrong e-mail out because a typo. "SJCarden7a @ Gmail.com Take care! Steve
  4. I would take two please. Steve
  5. Hi Larry! I did this upgrade to one of my IDE Plus 2.0 D drives. I asked Jacek if he did not mind. This upgrade does not require a firmware flash. http://www.realdos.net/IDE Plus Upgrade.html The little drives are getting hard to find. Most of the older IDE drives that are under a GIG will work with this upgrade. Take care and enjoy the Atari
  6. Hi Larry & Jacek! Hope you are both doing well today. If the firmware could be updated with the IDE * 2.0 S. I would love along with the IDE disk drivers be updated to also support ISO 9660. Love to see one of my old CD-ROMs could be easy. We could do ISO 9660 as well as IDE Harddisk. Maybe a firmware upgrade could add the IOMEGA flash drives. Right now the only hardware I know of that does CD-Rom reading is SIO2IDE. Yes I have two of them. I do not know of anyone making or selling the SIO2IDE. The different IDE Plus are. First one IDEa second one IDE Plus 2.0 B Third One IDE Plus 2.0 C Fourth one IDE Plus 2.0 D Fifth One IDE 2.0 Plus S I has a spot for another little chip. Jacek Can tell you about it. Sixth One IDE 2.0 Plus CF Memory Chip. No need for the ICD to CF Adapter. From looking at the IDE Plus 2.0 D there is 3 512k by 8 Flash chip that is holding everything for the IDE 2.0 To run. I do not know if there is extra space to add any code. Have fun with the Atari! Steve
  7. Hi Jon. I hope you are having a great day. Everyone that has read this post https://atariage.com/forums/topic/327777-fast-assembler/?do=findComment&comment=5005325 I jumped on Jon hard in an open POST. I made a mistake and I am sorry for that. I have written many programs for the Atari and I have had that happen many times in the past. This is why I responded the way I did. It was still wrong of me. Jon and I have have been swapping emails and have that resolved. With the U1Meg wanting a hardware lock and a battery backed up ramdisk disk is a request should new board be made. This is not a bug fix in software or hardware with the U1Meg. I Guess I must really like the U1Meg I have 7 of them. I would not have 7 of them if there was a problem with it. Jon I know from your U-Tube video that the Rapidos has problems. Do you think there will be a fix for it? I have very high hopes for that. I would have liked to have added a high speed 816 to my Multiplexer Master. At the moment my multiplexer master uses U1Meg, Side 2, Vbxe, KRH, R-Time 8, and Duel Pokey upgrade. I really need a processor speed boost in the Multiplexer Master. I think I will just try and see if I can get that from just the RapiDos, RTime 8, and KRH. Jon and everyone else have a great and happy day.
  8. i have a new email address. The SJCarden@bellsouth.net is no longer in use.. Private email needs to go to sj carden 7a @ gmail.com. Just remove the spaces and I will get it.. I now have fiber optic 1 gigabit connection and 5 fixed ip's. I am planning to Bring my website back to my house. Most all of my source has tons of documentation with in them. Send me an email and I will help you with why and how I did things. I published the RealDos Toolkit for just what you want to work on. I use my own cross assembler but there is no reason the .s files can be ported to your assembler. It is my wish that people who want to program have documented source to work and learn from. Take care and enjoy.
  9. The link you are requesting is on my web site at this location. http://www.realdos.net/realdos.html CrazyBonz has the most current RealDos toolkit and he can tell you how to get that that source. I would would prefer that information be in a private email. Thank you for your kind thoughts on my wife she was a very special person. Thanks Steve
  10. i use APT and like it very much. With my U1Megs and Side, Side2, and Side 3 I am not aware of any bugs in Firmware or Support Files. Now if the people who maintain that hardware I would like to see these changes. Battery Backed Ramdisk Support and a hardware locking process. These are not bugs just updates that are need in my view. Steve
  11. That is very dangerous to do for that matter undo THAT. The Toolkit has a program that can make changes certain values if a program is looking for version values in $700 and $701. Stephen J. Carden
  12. Hi Jan! This already is out there but that was not documented for this process. The RealDos ToolKit Source I published will do that!!! CrazyBonz Would you please send Jan In a PMessage unless there is a big demand for it. If so I will get another message posted with that info. This is for everyone not just Jan. It takes a ton of equipment and testing to be certain a DOS is ready for most anyone use. This is why ILS (ME and CrazyBonz) do not give dos source code out as a general practice. Working on and maintaining a Dos is a Bitch. Back when The XL & XE Atari's came out DOS's only had to deal with was SIO Devices and PBI devices were for the most part Black Box, MIO, and Supra Harddisk and its update KPI. Every new bit of new hardware makes that testing part of writing new programming gets more complex. A lot of new hardware has started making SDX for that hardware. This approach is for the most part the only way to do it. Now for myself I try to by two or more of everything. This is how CrazyBonz and myself do our testing. Everyone Have a Wonderful day! Steve
  13. Thanks Jon for pointing out to the world of SDX users about the X.com function within SDX. I am aware of it. Like with movies, Books, Who is running a company or country people view and feel different about everything. Do NOT THINK I do not use, test, and find The Atari Needs a cart based DOS like SDX. Each Dos that has ever been written for the Atari has been done for one or more reasons. There are program that have been written for one or more reasons that need a dos of one kind or another. Excluding the GAME Carts Like Packman or Defender and all the rest of them. If anyone has ever tried to come up with a list of all the cart out there I would love to get them or an image of there rom. Tom Hunt wrote a program called Snapshot that would copy from $0000 to $FFFF and current state of Stack which with a touch of a button go between two or more program. A program very much ahead of its time. However the X.com in SDX does turn $8000 to $ BFFF from the bank switch cart off so a com file can use or run in that space but the program now running can no longer use a JSR into a dos subroutine or be certain that dos info is there. One of the Functions That only SDX has very right is a way to relocate dos JSR from under the OS or the subroutines starting $C000. ICD's MG toolkit very much used the Print inline String and others. That is how the Disk Based SpartaDos was penned. DID ICD Get it right that just depends on who you are talking with. One of the reasons there are so many different reasons different DOS's I guess but I am sure there are different debates on the topics. Do not get me wrong I like SDX, I like SpartaDos from way back in the version 2.3 days. For the most part I will use whatever works. If there is nothing out there to get the job done. I will write what I need. Any Atari users out there Please learn how to program. This way you are not just a user but an author! Working with the Atari for so many years I am still humbled by some of the new programs written since 2000. Yes I Published my entire RealDos Toolkit. I did this to help the new programmers could see how the old Farts like myself did things. Now I did not Publish the RealDos .dos file because novices have no need to program there. I have seen a mistake in .dos file wipe out an entire hard drive. Like SDX I have been USING my own Custom Cross-Assembler Since 1985. First on my Mega 4 ST then later on my PC. When I was codding for BBS Express Professional Bob Puff came out with SuperArc and Unarc I called Puff on the phone and let him know that I would very much like to include ARC and Unarc inside BBS Express Pro. He Told me Carden if you want it take it apart. He would not turn the source over for that project. My response to Bob was are you really sure you want to do this in that manor. His response was yes. That was on a Friday. 48 hours later I uploaded my source for his ARC and UNARC to his BBS. 48 hours later BBS Express Professional now had ARC and UnARC programs linked into the message base networking. Compressing the message bases by 90% and saving those Sysops Thousands of dollars. That update made me a lot of money. But you already know this story! Is this not how the Updated SDX came about. That now lives in all the cool new hardware like U1meg, Side, Side 2, Side 3, IDEa, IDE Plus 2.0 just comes quick to my mind. Which I do not have a problem with how it came about. I am very happy for the work that was put into it and the hardware it now lives. Here is the point I am trying to make! Do not think a compiled code can not be turned back into source and have it come back at you. Everyone please note I have the greatest respect for all the new hardware and software. The list of programmers and hardware designers for the Atari is better than it has ever been during the 1983---1999. This is NOT something I would Do myself. You are a big part of that FlashJazzCat but one of your programs that flashes hardware could have one JSR change to a chip rendering hardware useless. You know Pull the hardware and reprogram from scratch. So the one change that is needed is a hardware lock switch to prevent this. Some of the sd cards have hardware locks as well as the all CSS versions of the BlackBox. This is a design change I would like to see in the hardware that has ramdisk is a battery backup. My Ramdisk.Com already supports this. I hope this never happens but I am sure there is some teenager wanting to mess up dad's vintage hardware. This very reason is why so much of our Windows Software Computer spend so many processor ticks on Anti Virus Utility's. This is also why my updated toolkit has a space that can hold a crc value. This can do two things Stop a mod to a program and tell the user there is a problem. This is not anything I came up with but the guy who did the very first sio2pc. I sorry I can not remember his name. I started to use this in the RealDos toolkit. The include is called Header.s, Set-crc.s, Version.s, and checkcrc.s. Once I get my fixed I have plans to create an editor that can change how each of the RealDos toolkit Utilitys run. One of the things I really love about the Atari 8-bit is how so much can be done in 64k. I really like being an end user who writes code every now and then. The mod's I have suggested are something I would like to see. All of you doing this wonderful work keep it up. But the changes I have pointed out are needed. I will just kick back, get my eyes fixed so I can join with the other users and enjoy all the new stuff. I do enjoy what you do Jon and so do many others. The U-Tub Videos have been needed and they are great! Take care all. God Bless the Atari ship we are on and enjoy! Steve
  14. Post the truth. Memlow is better on sdx but f**King memtop sucks because it is a cart. Using it on an unmodified Atari with a disk drive is painful. Now there have been wonderful Hardware upgrades mostly out of Poland but not all all new hardware has not been exclusive to Poland. My hat comes off to all the wonderful I had from ICD the third SDX cart then Keith Ledbetter, Chris King and myself started on the Express Cart. When Ken Ames contacted about making some changes to my Version of SpartaDos 3.2c to Work with BBSExpress Professional and the NEW CSS Multiplexer. Do not think that RealDos was just a rebrand it is not. I had real source from MG. I was the only person on earth that was allowed to view ICD source. The SIOV routines are very different. Ans since we are talking about SDX which I am very happy to have provided the equipment and tech help on.Fix it to where any SDX loaded CART will work with all hardware. do not hold your compiler to tight because I can turn any atari code back to source and yes I know how to do relocatable code. MY health has bounced back and as soon as I can get my eyes operated on. Here one question for you? Have you used the new wedge.com the one that works with all SpartaDos Disk version after 3.2d and all RealDos Versions. AMES talked me into that. At the moment I am not programming because of my eye's. Between Ken and I we have 78 years of knowledge and I have two of every bit of Atari hardware made. Because of my wife Passing away 12/21/2019 and vision problems I have turned 100% of my documented source to Ken Ames. I did this for two reasons. My health has not been the best and I did not want that source to be tossed away. I also published all the source to the Realdos Toolkit to everyone in the world. JUst so I do not get Hate mail Thank you all you new programmers and hardware developers. Seprate note. Before any non professional solderers take your non-socketted Atari to put in an upgrade please Veiw the U-Tub clips FlashJazzCat has made. Thanks Jon Dr. Stephen J. Carden PhD
  15. I will not sell any of the ones I have. You may get lucky and get one if some one pass away or just just want to get ride of there 8-bit stuff. The https://thebrewingacademy.com/collections has a PBI board that plugs into the pbi on the 800xl or the 130xe with an adapter. But to use there you must have an U1Meg. Marvin and Mike have made or resell a lot of hardware for the Atari. I really love the IDE 2.0 d and S. I also have one on the IDE 2.0 CF as well. No while I own on of the Brewing academy PBI cf adapter I have not installed one nor have I tested one with RealDos I know the man who designed it and he does really nice work. This is also a product no longer made. The sio2ide is the coolest one I can think of. You can use any ide device. it is also able to read cd-roms. First of all I want to thank all the hardware designers in Poland and the rest of the world. This is just my view and I am just one end user that try to make RealDos work with everything. The Atari end users need a device like the MIO, BlackBox the works with all the new hardware like Compact flash, and all the other chips that are current. Now here is the problem every time someone builds something cool the chips they use are not around for very long. I try to buy at least two of everything made so I know there are a lot of things that are very cool that were made after 2000. Most of the really cool stuff can be viewed on my web site. http://www.realdos.net/Other towers.html. I hope you are able to find the hardware you want. or some of our hardware designers make something new and cool. ThankYou all the new hardware developers Stephen J. Carden Sr. PhD
  16. I am still around, With my Wife Tammy passing away and the MicroSnot forcing windows 10 onto every ones machine I just got really pissed off with what they were doing.. CrazyBonz and I have some plans for the future. We are not going to saying what we are planning. Steve
  17. Hi There! The last IDE Plus 2.0 Rev D. & S I purchased. And no I do not want to sell one. The latest one is the IDE 2.0 Rev F. The man who builds these combined both the IDE 2.0 D & S with the ide to cf adapter. Hope you can find one on e-bay. Take care! Steve
  18. Hi all! Once again why are people loading and running this file when it is a problem file. This is not a program I have written. I have no idea where it comes from. But the program name means F*cked up beyond all recognition. That is what foo bar means. Draco was kind enough to turn it back into source. This kinda of crappy programming is why all my new stuff has a header section that tell a bunch about all my support program. The update I am working on will include a way to set and/or check a crc of any of my support program. I am writting a program what will allow the the end user to set a few function like displaying certain text out of a program. I am also removing lance ringquest out of all my programs. I just want to get back and update a few things with the support files. I have also received emails wondering if I am competing with sdx which I am not. SDX being a cart dos has a place for all. just like RealDos, MyDOS and all the other DOS's have there place. Most users do not know That I donated hardware so it would be supported with SDX. For the most part RealDos does everything I need. but I still have my hardware that has SDX Carts in them. I have some cool support files coming. Every One Take care and have a great Day! Stephen J. Carden Ph.D
  19. Hi All. This is not any code I have written. I need some one to send me the program so I can see what it is trying to do or if it is a virus program. Also Because of lance ringquest I do not support any version of SpartaDos 3.3 a,b,c,d. My Ramdisk programs and tdline2 will work with all versions of spartaDos I have been a bit sick lately but I do have some cool stuff for realdos on its way. Take care Steve
  20. Hi Marius I have a bit more work to do on it but once I bring all 8 nodes on the internet RealDOS & TCPIPExpress will be shareware..the shareware cost will not cost anyone nothing more than an e-mail. I have a bunch of Atari Slave equipment too build so for the most part the TCPIPExpress will cost you nothing more than an e-mail. Stephen J. Carden
  21. Thank You mike and the rest of you. Your kind words are why the Atari 8-bit is so strong. Thank You all! Stephen J. Carden
  22. Hi All! Yes I am still alive. Thank you for the very kind posts. I have not been active on any computer due to the forced windows 10 on my Windows 7 Laptops by MicroSnot. When MicroSnot trashed 3 of my 4 laptops I turned all my Computer equipment off. That was August 2018. Then Tammy and I sent to Maui for a Month and renewed our Marriage vows. Several of my Atari friends talked me into getting busy again with the Atari. I was not going to reload Windows 7 or windows of any version on the internet. I am now using Linux Mint for internet usage. Since my wife Passed away in 12/21/2019 I have needed something to pass my time away. I was getting bored with tv anyway. I also have a new e-mail address. sjcarden7a@gmail.com. I spent 44 days in the Hospital Burn Ward in April/May 2019 I have a real Hard time getting around from all the surgery I had on my left Knee, I have also had so many operations on both my hips that I can not remember how many time my hips had surgery. I am still able to walk a bit. I live alone but I have people who check on me and do things for me. But as I was reading the messages I have missed I think I have found a way to make the new SDX and RealDos to both work with the MyIDE to work for you who want to use that hardware. First lets Talk about RealDos. Just Boot RealDos holding down one of the consol keys and select the Multiplexer Siov. Now for SDX. You need to go to Trub's web site download this off is web site: http://sdx.atari8.info/sdx_files/muxsdx.txt modify the config.sys like you were using a multiplexer. Then SDX will use the siov from the OS and not the internal SDX one. Do not make all the changes that a Multiplexer system needs. you just need to make sure that you are using the OS siov. The RealDos MUX Siov is the same one that is in SpartaDos 3.3a. While I have not tried this, it should work. I got pissed off trying to fix the problems with the MYIDE hardware that I tossed it into the trash. Had I backed away from the project I would have realized how to fix it. Those of you that have the necessary hardware please let me know if it works. This should work. The menu that RealDos selecting the Mux Siov uses the same Driver as SpartaDos 3.3a. by setting up the Updated SDX to think it is running a Mux should use the siov in the OS. That is unless Trub moved the Mux Siov into the Cart but I do not think he did that. Anyone that has the hardware please let me know if this works. For myself I do not like the way the MyIde maps into the Atari or the OS software or the lack of that is. But as a developer if I can fix something I should for the users that look up to the Programmers and Hardware designers. Thanks and take care all! Stephen J. Carden
  23. I have had them in my 1050's since 1985. I had it up on my bbs, web site. it just seemed like a good time to post it here. hay if you have the time could you post some pictures for everyone. Thanks! Steve
