Sega Genesis Wireless controller Question
DarthCloud replied to thegamezmaster's topic in Atari 7800
Received my 6 button controller today (Model MK-1470 with mode button) and it's working fine. Don't even need to use the mode button at all. Tried in 2600 mode and with a 7800 two button game. No issue at all. One will have to check the model without mode button and the wireless one, but I'm pretty sure they are going to work too. Unless SEGA screwed something with those -
Not bad considering the last loose one sell for ~3000$ I think?? I though the fact an boxed version exist would have lowered the value.

Is it available to purchase?? If so I take one!

Got mine today , really nice and hard game! Best run so far: 5900. I never pay attention when the enemy go to the bottom of the screen. They always hit my in the back when they loop back up :@ lol

Sega Genesis Wireless controller Question
DarthCloud replied to thegamezmaster's topic in Atari 7800
The wireless controller for sure work the same as the wired 6 button controller. With the exception that their is no "mode" button. The problem might be that the select line (pin 7) is never pulled low as normal genesis game would do. So if the 6 button controller use that as some kind of clock to update it's output that could cause a problem. I know that the select pulse is use by compatible game to get the 3 additional button status. If that the case those controller would be incompatible with the Master System, Power Base Converter and Atari. The mode button on the wired 6 button controller is said to be use to put the controller in 3 button mode. So if you hold that button while powering the system the controller should work as a normal genesis pad and should work with SMS and Atari system. Unfortunately the wireless version and some newer wired one don't have that button, so it's probably can't be put in compatibility mode. Anyway I just buy an official SEGA 6 button controller with mode button on ebay. So in a week or so I update about it. If it doesn't work I will try to find what I can do about it. -
Sega Genesis Wireless controller Question
DarthCloud replied to thegamezmaster's topic in Atari 7800
I'm happy that someone is willing to build the adapter for the community! Cause I'm too busy with university and work to find time to build and sell the stuff I design myself. Personaly, I prefer to see all the component so I don't put any hood but I guess you could order those hood to give the adapter a more professional look: http://www.mouser.co...cmvDLiEySCUc%3d -
Sega Genesis Wireless controller Question

I've done that for my wired controller and it's working fine for both 2600 and 7800 mode. This is an adapter so you don't need to mod the controller. It should work too for the wireless controller. Thanks. Any way to explain to someone not this technically advanced? You first need to get the 5 component needed: One 74HC4053: http://www.mouser.co...CJ5LyLgEXY2s%3d Two 620 Ohm resistor: http://www.mouser.co...oCyWGhoufZ34%3d One DB9 Male: http://www.mouser.co...%252bevKylkc%3d One DB9 Female: http://www.mouser.co...z6SpRk1wMCuk%3d On the schematic each line is a wire and they interconnect at connector or chip pin. Where they cross their is not connection excepted when you see a round black dot. R1 and R2 are the resistor. Vcc and GND are the power suply, so you need to connect each Vcc together. And connect all GND together. If you never done this before I recommend using a small breadboard like this since it require no soldering: http://www.sparkfun.com/products/7916 You would only need in that case to solder a wire to each pin of each DB9 connector. I recommend using 22 AWG cable with only one conductor: http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8022 -

I don't think an "all pile on" strategy will be helpful at this time. As Curt said back in July you can cancel your order if you aren't happy. Just follow the instructions here. I'm sure that if all the XM team members were charging for their R&D time at commercial rates and not working on the XM in their free time it probably would have come out sooner. However, going down that route I suspect that it would have been at least 5 times the price and therefore out of reach for everybody except a few hardcore collectors. I'm sure it'll be on ebay by some of the members here trying to hock it for quadruple it's original sale point within days of it's actual release. I'd like to know what the production run is going to be and I think this amount should be stated upfront to the community so we all know how many are going to be out there. Are we talking only a handful (<20?) or a nice amount to help actually keep prices stable for a while to let people have time to buy one at original price? (say 200+?) If only a few of these things are going to see the light of day, I'm sorry to say that it'll quicky be out of reach for most of us anyway. Curt said several time that to avoid that people start selling then on ebay for high price, he will manufacture then in an amount well over the demand so he can sell those for several years directly. So if plan haven't change anyone that want one will have the opportunity to get one directly from Curt.

Let not start the drama again... Just wait, or cancel if you can't....

I suggest you read through the entire thread (and maybe a couple of other XM related ones) and draw your own conclusions as to why he's taken that stance. I well understand why and religiously follow all XM thread from the beginning of the project, but it's still disappointing.
-
I suspect not. It would cost considerably more for a new one than one you could pick one up off eBay due to the fact that there are limited sources for MARIA, TIA, SALLY, RIOTs and 2K RAMs. Plus as Curt previously announced a few posts ago, he's not doing any more stuff direct to the hobby market. So no 7800 Keyboard :'(

Got mine, great game!!! Unfortunately I'm not good enough to last very long after reaching the 20k mark lol.

This is a hobby project and I'm pretty sure Curt is busy with his real life job btw. I don't know how many people preordred the XM but let say 100. I don't think he will have the time to personally answer everyone. Instead what he is doing is updating the XM status page frequently since the debut of the project. So this is his way to communicate with all his customers in an efficient way. an automated email response is enough, it takes 20 seconds, and shows respect for your customers the same with the FB2 thing , "i don`t know " was enough for many of us, again 10 seconds I don't need an automated email answer to see Curt respect for it's customer. Just seeing how much he cared about finding the right company to manufactured a nameplate just like the original Atari is enough. He is working hard to make the product perfect in every aspect either the look of the case, the hardware and the software. THAT's a proof of respect for his customer. I wish Sony and Microsoft has the same respect for their customer when they designed their own stuff.... that`s respect for the final product , certainly not for you OK you are just retard. You are wasting everyone time and effort...

I don't want to add to the drama, but I'm pretty sure that from the total of people who preordered the XM only a minority come here complaining. I do (like many other appreciate I'm sure) really appreciate all the effort you put in making the XM to look and feel like a real Atari product (in fact look even better than the original). I'm studying in electrical engineering and worked a lot with FPGA and CPLD and doing a project from scratch like this with a custom PCB is not a simple task. Not as easy that developing on an existing dev board where you only need to wrote the VHDL and click program! So I fully understand the delay. Better to get it latter with bug free code than sooner with some issue IMHO. So I just wanted to say to not let those minority complaining like little kids demoralize yourself. All you hard work is appreciated by all Atari fan.

Funny I managed to order this kit too 2 week ago, waiting to receive it!. Currently I'm using NJM2267 videos amp for the RGB mod of my AV Famicom. I'm using this with my XRGB3 to output it on my TV via VGA. But I'm see some small "jailbar" effet on my TV. Are you using an XRGB3 too, or you wired directly to your monitor? Do you see any "jailbar" with this??? Thank you, can wait to receive the part and mod mine too!!
