  1. Car Wars, up until recently I thought it was an entirely unique TI99 game. Haha well it always will be for me now, still love playing it on the TI today.
  2. Let's add my recently acquired 800 to this list. UK machine, has a nice even khaki green like patina, or was that the colour some of these machines were ogiginally? My Atari 400 is pretty much the exact same colour. I always expected they'd be more beige coloured. Anyway here is the sticker from the bottom which I assume means week 11 '83?
  3. I ordered the one Beeblebrox suggested in the end anyway, that will go with the 400 when I sell it(sadly can't keep both). I've just finalised rejigging the retro room to accommodate the 800 so the old 400 power pack is now in use with no plans to move it(took me ages getting everything wired back up). Thanks to those links @Beeblebrox it actually sounds like I did just perfect getting the Myler keyboard also, I was initially disappointed to discover it wasn't mechanical as I know some were, but ready a couple of those threads it seems the typically hated membrane is actually a good bet here assuming I can bring it back to life(I better not sing victory yet) but that will be a mission for another day. I'm in no hurry to tackle that as I will only use this for playing games so as long as the spacebar works for Defender(one of my all time favourite games) I'm content for now. Cheers again for the help.
  4. Thanks Beeblebrox, very helpful. A friend of mine found these but suspect it's the same as what you showed there, but yours works out a little cheaper.. https://atarigiant.com/online-shop/ols/products/atari-400-ac-slash-ac-9v-power-supply Will check out your keyboard link now.
  5. Hi all, Just received an Atari800 which I bought after deciding to upgrade my Atari400. It has two issues, the first is it came with incorrect power brick, it has one of those multipin connectors on one end which I assume means it belongs with an Atari XL. I'm using my Atari 400 power supply at the moment to test but obviously will need a suitable replacement. I assume those multivoltage jobbies from the likes of Argos/Amazon would be too easy a solution to be viable for either the 400 or 800? Like this https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9829701?istCompanyId=a74d8886-5df9-4baa-b776-166b3bf9111c&istFeedId=c290d9a9-b5d6-423c-841d-2a559621874c&istItemId=ixilqlqxt&istBid=t&&cmpid=GS001&_$ja=tsid:59157|acid:534-693-8244|cid:20296143496|agid:|tid:|crid:|nw:x|rnd:1513852656853340514|dvc:c|adp:|mt:|loc:9045348&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=20296143496&utm_term=9829701&utm_content=shopping&utm_custom1=&utm_custom2=534-693-8244&GPDP=true&gclid=Cj0KCQjwhL6pBhDjARIsAGx8D5--k1ZbT5vcl5v8K23JhhA_VJGS_PRHr5Qj-KofmwJaSuQr_na8nbUaAi5GEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds If anybody could help with that I'd really appreciate it as I've read the other threads but they're old and couldn't find any valid links to UK items. Aside from this the keyboard almost entirely doesn't work, must numbers work, a couple symbols and space bar but the rest nothing. I guess with this it's safe to assume it's a membrane one(was so crossing my fingers it would be mechanical to save that nightmare) and it's knackered. So yep, excitement sadly turned to disappointment pretty quickly after unboxing, I never seem to properly strike lucky with stuff like this.
  6. I worked in a hotel at the time and a workmate was trying to sell his SNES together with a bunch of games for £30. Nobody wanted it so I bit his hand off. Still have the thing and back to playing it again after having it recapped. It's battered and bruised from all the post pub staff room seasons we all used to enjoy. All adds character though, it looks the way it should after the rough treatment it had. So many happy memories, post pub/club back then was staff room SNES time! Stupidly I sold the more valuable games for it a few years back but I'm gradually trying to pick some of those back up if I see half decent prices. Some are just crazy asking prices now though.
  7. To the OP, I recently picked up Kirby's Dream Course on the cheap which I never played back in the day and really enjoy playing it. It's more a top down crazy golf game than a Kirby game you'd expect. Highly recommended for something different. I still play Super Off Road alot on my SNES, such a great game.
  8. Haha, think I'm done now, been playing it alot and never manged to get anywhere near my to score again.
  9. Bugger, I got so close but knew you'd get me in the end, haha. Well played.
  10. Joystick for me, I can't get on with keyboard any more these days. I've tried plenty since my last high score but can't get anywhere near it, guess I just can't recapture the frustrations of that loss to drive me on?
  11. I don't blame you mate, if it had gone the other way I wouldn't have had that score, or any score tbh, would be still celebrating! Congrats buddy, your team were superb throughout and deserved winners.
  12. This is a rare occasion I really don't want a physical version?
  13. 59500 Took out my frustration of England being knocked out at the final hurdle. It worked, feel much better after some frantic cornering on this game.
  14. Don't know how the hell I managed my best score a couple days ago, haven't managed to get anywhere near close to that since. Using the doorways is a death wish, the amount of times it brings you back out exactly where an ape is emerging.
  15. Brilliant, will look forward to seeing your video review of this one.
  16. This game is way more fun than I remembered, better stop now....
  17. I should play this one more, great little game!
  18. Hmm, I have my TI99 all packaged up ready to go off for a recap, but this looks a fun game so might have to get it back out for a quick go at this before I send it away.
  19. They came with it? That's a super cool(or should I say turbo cool) bonus. Who doesn't like extra goodies?
  20. I have to be honest I can never get past those 5 little white floor mines on the third stage(J?) in the regular course, they get me every time so being able to jump straight into the action is a true blessing for me?
  21. Wow I did not expect so many detailed and helpful replies. Thank you all once again! I think I have settled now on just getting the recap and power unit sorted, and I will add in getting the keyboard membrane checked. I don't think I'll bother with anything else as I've always been happy enough with performance for my needs(purely a gaming machine) and so long as I can fire it up now and again to play some classics I'm content with that. My money can be better used elsewhere(I have a Spectrum Next waiting for me and plans to rebuy another Speccy +2 the same as I used to own as that has by far the most happy memories for me). I'm also having my TI99 recapped at the same time. Really appreciated all the thoughts, cheers guys.
  22. Those were my thoughts exactly, looked amazing but I just didn't get it at the time and the game was the first ever I'd seen to charge 50p a go. Most machines were 10p at the time with the latest classics 20p, there was no inbetween so that was a huge jump in entrance fee for a game with to my eyes little player interaction, for that reason I think I only played it once and that was it.
  23. Not sure if you guys have general game threads like this, surprised there isn't a TI-99 game sub-forum. Please feel free to delete if not really in-keeping with the spirit of the forum. Despite loving Moon Patrol back in the day in the arcades, I don't remember owning it on my TI99 back in the 80's. Since rebuying this wonderful piece of hardware again earlier this year(together with a ton of games carts including this one) I played this one a bit and was pretty disappointed with it. Was it not a good version of the old classic? or had the game just not aged as well as I had expected? Well it turns out neither.... That opinion changed today thanks in part to trying it again with my fairly recently bought Monster Joystick(highly recommended BTW), meaning I could also configure the second button to take the place of "up" to jump(what a difference!), but then also noticing what I'd been stupidly missing.... Championship Course! What a blast, suddenly loving this game all over again. I wonder if I'm the only one to make the silly mistake of jumping straight into the game each time instead of seeing an alterative mode to select on the title screen?
