My list begins and ends with Circus Atari. I love Warlords but rarely get to play it with others. As a single player game it's actually pretty boring.

I love playing with my brother as we would always do battle against each other.

  2. I'll also say a 4-switch woody/vader. The Heavy Sixers will go for a lot of money usually, but you can always get a reasonable price on any of the 4-switch models. Like Retrogamer said, the junior would probably be the most affordable, but definitely was made cheaper. I should know; I've owned all variants of the 2600.

Also you can get a 7800 for backwards compatibillity and you can play both 7800 and 2600 games.

  3. Pawn shops can be real hit and miss. A few around my area do not carry games/systems older than PS2 or Gamecube, but there is one that has good deals on NES, Genesis, and 2600/7800 stuff once in a while.

Congratulations on the 5200 find. Is the controller in good working order?

Thanks. Haven't tested the controller yet. I was told the system itself does work.

Did they have any more interesting old consoles or computers? Or, did you just get lucky on this one?

I have seen a Heavy Sixer 2600 in there in the past. Currently there's a 2600jr there now.

  4. WELL, I just bought mine today, and played it. According to Wikipedia, it's not the 2600-on-a-chip technology that Legacy did with the FB2 and FB2+; instead AtGames opted to use a ARM-based processor which makes the games function slightly different (though not to the extreme of the Jaks Pacific or the first Flashback with the NES-on-a-chip). Plus if you planned on hacking it and adding a cart port, you can FORGET IT! It won't work. However, like the FB2, you can use the joysticks on an original 2600. My final analysis: it's ok, but I lean towards my FB2. While the FB3 has more games, the emulation is off IMHO. The FB2 is an actual Atari 2600, but the FB3 is an emulator inside a 2600-looking package. Plus the sounds on the games sounds higher than in their original versions.

  5. Got a recent BTA for ya on eBay. Watch out for a guy named atari-inspector. I ordered an Atari CX-10 joystick (you know the Heavy Sixer-type) and it's been a month since I first purchased it, and it STILL hasn't arrived. So if you see anything of his for sale, BEWARE!!! You might see that he has a lot of positive feedback, but now it seems he's slipping.

(UPDATE) Since opening my case, now the douche is no longer a registered eBay user. So I could be out $25.00 for my joystick.

  6. Well I finally got a 5200 Trak-Ball which works great with Centipede (of course), Space Invaders, and somewhat good with Defender, but other games, FORGET ABOUT IT! Also got a controller that was supposed to be refurbished, but while the buttons were working alright (Start button actually starts!!!) the joystick only goes left and up. What would be the issue with that?!

When you move it around does it feel like its together the right way? (smooth)

It could be the POKEY way out of adjustment. Do you have other sticks that do work?

Yeah it's smooth like nothing is broken. I got maybe one other stick, but the buttons don't work.
