Yes, I should have been more clear. I'd like to use my XEGS to go on a BBS.

My questions:

 

1. How can I get my XEGS online using modern parts. Would I still need a disk drive (something I'm trying to avoid because I don't have one and I hear the belts inside break because of dry rot)? Also, where would I get the parts that I need? I'd need something that would fit that 13 pin port.

 

2. Is there any way to make a XEGS go any faster so a game like Flight Simulator II can go move more smoothly (some kind of new chip maybe)? Or is this just a drunken fantasy of mine?

I'd like to take advantage of the Custum Carts sold here on Atari Age but they said only 32k and smaller. If this works out, I want my daughter to make the artwork for the carts. That would be sweet!

When I was a kid and heard that Donkey Kong dropped on the 2600 I went mental! I also like the way the monkey would beat his chest when you changed direction, so going up the ladders was really cool.
