  1. Perhaps I should have been more clear. Here are all recent posts by Curt: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?a...sult_type=posts I had assumed you were interested in the classic USB controllers. If so, read the following carefully. Here is the whole message from the LE site: If not, and you want to contact Curt for some other reason, go to his profile page, look in the lower left, and click send message. Or email one of the addresses on the LE site. Sarcasm not appreciated when I was trying to help.
  2. Example of the applet code (although I don't have the jar): http://web.archive.org/web/20071016193810/...emo/Tetris.html
  3. The last page from the Atari ST emulator written in Java by David Dawkins. from http://web.archive.org/web/20071014001338/...-st.lovely.net/
  4. Sorry. Not trying to be a pain. It's not the link so much as the message on that page... they are updating the status there more than the topics in AA, and the status message is only slightly changing sometimes. The current plan according to that page is for them to ship out the existing orders this month (March), after which they said they'd start taking new orders. Since Curt just had heart surgery and I'm not sure how many folks are helping out, but I can imagine that it is quite a job. It would be great if someone would invest/buy it up and mass produce it. While the economy is down, a cool cheap product like this would sell well I'd think. At the very least on Thinkgeek. Especially if it could be packaged with an Atari anthology CD or similar (for those that wouldn't understand Stella).
  5. from http://www.legacyengineer.com/store.html So it sounds like they are planning to open the store again for more sales, but only after they've handled the existing orders. Shouldn't be long, but Curt needs to take it easy and not work too hard or stress about it. We can wait.
  6. Only 2 left: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=s...tle_description
  7. I enjoyed watching videos of these old ZX Spectrum, Amiga, and TRS-80 games: http://micro100mag.blogspot.com/2009/02/ol...s-of-youre.html
  8. For those that don't want to click the link, here's the pic

  10. $7.99 available in March 2009 via Fred http://www.worldwidefred.com/shoponline.htm http://www.perpetualkid.com/index.asp?Page...amp;ProdID=3337
  11. Something else I wonder is why the U.S. national archives, Internet Archive ( http://www.archive.org/index.php, ), Smithsonian, etc. don't work together and pool resources. Basically it is all about recording all of our history into a single "life museum" and then spreading that information across the earth (and the universe) so that there is less likelihood of it getting lost or destroyed. It is a lame excuse to say "well, its because we only got a grant for recording platypus sounds". So what? There is no reason people can't join together and get organized.
  12. Yes, I definitely support their efforts. But things I think are missing from the description of the project and will require many more resources will be to gather and preserve the game documentation (critical for loading older games, playing some older games that were not self-documented, or that relied on documentation for play (for keys/codes)) and more importantly to record all of the old guys that wrote the game, distributed it, sold it, used to play the game, and record what it was like to slip the cassette in, load the game, or listen to the disk drive sounds as the game slowly loaded (in HD from two cameras, so that it could be played back in the future in 3D). I've thought about it more as I've gotten older how many of these guys and computers are getting old, and it makes me really sad thinking of all of the information that will be lost about the early age of microcomputers and earlier. Generations from now, historians and students are going to be pissed that we had the technology to keep and organize all of this information for future generations, and we didn't. The same goes for old VHS tapes of family just sitting up on a shelf collecting dust. A family member years from now would be bummed to find out that a lot of videorecording was done in the 80s, but no one cared enough about it to continue preserving it. I know I'm being hypocritical because I have those tapes sitting up on a shelf, but I at least feel guilty about it and wish I had the cash and/or time to spend on preserving them.
  13. Was in slashdot a few days ago and I missed it, but if you missed it too: http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/uk-un...emulator-528487 I'm guessing that it will be like mame + mess + every other emulator built-in to one?
  14. Just posting pics of these two. I just nominated Vectrex in the worst looking category, but I did think it was cool back in the day, and still would like to have one. Vector graphics are awesome!
  15. Barring that the Wii is the best looking console to date, next to the 2600 (for its time, it was the best).
  16. If imaginary consoles count: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...p;#entry1327594
  17. This is probably inflammatory, but even though I thought it was awesome at the time and still do, the Vectrex was not exactly a sweet-looking device. When I think of "what might be one of the more embarrassing things to be sitting on the counter when someone comes to visit the house", that might come to mind.
  18. In case you missed the article in classicgaming.com or the few topics about it, check out: * http://pongmuseum.com/ Just starting out, but already some cool stuff there. Great job, Oliver!!
  19. Not sure if everyone saw, but here is the update on the page at http://www.legacyengineer.com/store.html
  20. My favorite quote: I think some of the original steering mechanisms for cars in the early 1900s used sticks. I'd rather have a yoke.
  21. Just curious- does anyone have any info on the outcome of previous litigation for such violations of copyright?
