  1. Yep. Take it easy, Curt! Life is short. Work will always be there.
  2. Sorry to dig up an old thread, but thought I'd mention this here, related to how to refurbish an Atari 2600. I've not done it, but maybe it will help someone. Related topics: * Buy new 2600A board from Best Electronics: topic * How to do a 2600 A/V mod, although some folks on the lists might do it for you, or you could buy one with an A/V mod: topic
  3. No, that is cool stuff! Thanks for sharing! I had no idea Curt was working on other consoles. That is awesome!
  4. I liked Ghostbusters the movie(s). The Atari game though- just took way too long to get out. It would have been cool 5 years ago, but even then, it wouldn't have held a candle to Quake 4. Most new PC/console games that sell seem to be smart, innovative, or involve behavior that is really not socially acceptable. Ghostbusters game doesn't meet any of those criteria. BTW, I know you know it, but Ghostbusters was made in the 80s. Hats off to Atari for getting it out, but they won't make much money off of it these days.
  5. I'm guessing Atari is just too scared to take any risk with money right now. But when the economy sucked in the 70s, new consoles thrived, so I think they are losing out, especially since they can't really make much headway on the gaming scene. (I saw Ghostbusters- not impressed, I'm afraid.)
  6. When you want to give something that is used away that you are advertising online (and don't want to give it to a charity), it is much easier to get rid of it by setting a very cheap price on it rather than giving it away for free. The same trick is used at yard sales also. People equate free used things with unusable junk, whereas a very cheap item indicates that the item has some value (possibly much more than the sales price).
  7. This may have been shared long ago (Atari Insider by Jeff Morin, plus notes from Thomas Clancy, plus notes from Harry Dodgson, plus notes from Sean Kelly), but it was new to me and I didn't find it in my search of AtariAge. I just happened upon it when searching for something. The doc describes how to do an A/V mod (either composite/audio or chroma/luma/audio) on Atari 2600 (Sears Tele-games/Sears Video Arcade), Atari 2600 Jr., (Atari 2800/)Sears Video Arcade II, and Atari 7800. file from: http://www.digitpress.com/library/techdocs/vcs_av_info.pdf vcs_av_info.pdf
  8. I read somewhere that there was gossip about a new Atari console project, but I can't find much on it, so I guess it was ill-informed... Anyone hear about that?
  9. Picture of biggest TV/monitor you've hooked a FB2 into? If anyone can plug into a whole wall of TVs that would kick butt as a pic.
  10. You may be playing Adventure. If so, turn it off and on again. In the menu, use the player 1 joystick to move the menu selection and button to select the game. If that doesn't work, make sure the joysticks are plugged in fully.
  11. Xseed Games is about to release Retro Game Challenge which contains a number of games very similar to some classics, with a retro gaming theme. http://www.amazon.com/Retro-Game-Challenge...4795&sr=8-1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SV-fZ5LcGI...page&fmt=18 (as reported on http://levelselect.co.uk/retro-game-challenge-has-gone-gold/ )
  12. Can a Jakks 2600 stick be hacked to play NES games? Maybe the board inside could be replaced and just use it as a shell?
  13. Still supposedly a few out there (via froogle/google shopping): http://www.google.com/products?q=atari+fla...=en&show=dd

  16. Note: I tried http://virtualapple.org/ the other day on vista and didn't have to install anything, at least not for the Apple II stuff, the gs stuff it still required some plugin. At least that is what I remember.
  17. Sega has come out with a neo-retro mock 8-bit title for the Wii (WiiWare) called Pole's Big Adventure that is a satire of 8-bit games (which finally answers the questions: "What if Mario had a gun?" and "Can Mario eat so many mushrooms that he gets bigger than the screen?", although it is Pole, not Mario). 19. You can imagine my disappointment when I see a link for a "classic gaming seat" and see this: http://www.dealtaker.com/index.php?showtopic=216073 Has anyone ever created a real "classic gaming" seat?
