12 minutes ago, cmart604 said:So, just to be clear, it sounds more like you want an official statement from IE in case you or others need proof of them lying about the lag issue (which you seemed so concerned about), so that you'd have legal recourse to recover damages? Are you worried about an investment of multiple thousands of dollars you made in IE or just a $100 deposit on pre-ordering a console?
Either way, I think if it's causing you to be concerned to the point of asking the same question a dozen times, which definitely won't be definitively answered in this thread to your satisfaction, then maybe you should find out about getting a refund on the investment you've made in the company, and/or just getting a refund on your deposit. You could always wait until it came out and decide then whether it is worth buying. No harm no foul at that point.
I think a statement from an official from Intellivision Entertainment holds much more weight than that of a random Youtuber or otherwise compensated fan. The fact that it would give investors potential recourse is *why* is gives an official statement more weight.

Hi! Thanks for the reply.
You are correct, it isn't really my place to tell someone how they should engage with this topic. However, mynreply was directed to someone else telling me how I should engage with the topic. Will you be issuing that same person the same warning you issued me, or is this a special case just for me?7 minutes ago, jaybird3rd said:That said, nobody here has "attacked" or "insulted" you; the petty and minor comments that you have already reported to the moderators on multiple occasions barely rise to the level of good-natured ribbing, certainly compared to the comments regularly exchanged almost anywhere else on the Internet.
[...]for the very previously-banned trolls that you claim to know nothing about.
There have been multiple posts attacking and insulting me. You may think they're minor and petty, and that's fine - I reported them instead of calling them out because I don't want them to be the center of discussion. I want to talk about the Amico. If you want to take this to PM instead of derailing the entire thread, I would absolutely support that.
Also, please don't strawman me or put words into my mouth. I have never claimed to be unaware of anyone else involved in the drama here or elsewhere. In fact, I even directly referenced a reddit post earlier. You're trying to make me into something I'm not and that's not a fair representation of the facts. What I said, very clearly, multiple times, is that I DO NOT CARE about the drama. I want to talk about the system, the games, and the brand. And here you have misrepresented me, protected those who have personally insulted me, reprimanded me for choosing to respond to someone in-kind (that you absolutely failed to hold them to the same standard) and have gotten me to type a four paragraph, completely off topic response that you will probably now use as an excuse to ban me.
Let's talk about Amico. If you wish to continue, please feel free to pm me.-

Earlier in this very thread, Mr. Tallarico posted "There are many videos out there at this point from people who have played it and specifically mentioned zero perceivable lag.". I can find additional quotes if you would like, but I don't thinkmit would help.
49 minutes ago, LinemanDoc said:Can we just move on from the negativity please? I don't post a lot here, but I do try to read this thread throughout the week. It's usually something fun and positive to look forward to. Can we please take it back to that?
@Toobin, it seems that your issues are complicated enough to start your own thread topic rather than taking over this thread.
Hi! Thanks for your concern, but this is a Q&A thread for Mr. Tallarico of Intellivision Entertainment, is it not? Is it supposed to be a thread for only positive questions? For compensated fans to post unrelated videos? I don't see the goal of starting a second Q&A thread because you, personally, are not a fan of my questions. But if you have questions for Mr. Tallarico, positive or otherwise, please do ask them!

1 hour ago, Swami said:There was lag at one point with the setup of the game when picking a fish on the touch screen. There was no lag observed during actual gameplay. They say the glitch in flow of the touchscreen during setup is fixed.
See, that's a great and concise answer. But statements from Intellivision Entertainment have flatly said "No lag" (which, again, reasonably can be accepted to mean no perceivable lag). Here, you say there was lag. Now, the extent to which the lag is an issue isn't seemingly a big deal. The official response to the issue, however, is my concern.
1 hour ago, Tommy Tallarico said:Also important to add that the same exact screen on Shark! Shark! was shown by SmashJT on one of his videos working with "no lag" BEFORE the IGN article as well.

If folks spent more time trying to understand how video games are actually made, maybe they wouldn't be so confused by such an insignificant point.
[...drama...]
What I find interesting is that Toobin asks me for additional proof of no lag... [...drama...]I wonder why that is? Toobin... would you care to answer?
[...drama...]Again, and maybe I wasn't clear enough before, I don't care about the drama behind the scenes between you and whomever your beefs are with. I don't care if they started it or what they said most recently. It means nothing to me, and throwing it back at me as a defense for your actions... well, "But Mom, they were doing it tooooooo!" didn't work for me when I was 8 and isn't going to work as an answer for me now that I'm 41.
You asked why I ask you for proof of no lag. Let me follow that with a question for you, then I'll answer.
Is SmashJT an official spokesperson for Intellivision Entertainment? Does SmashJT's statements represent Intellivision Entertainment? If so, I'll gladly watch every SmashJT video out there. If not... that's why I'm coming to YOU and asking YOU in a A & Q thread for YOU, Tommy. I want to hear what Intellivision Entertainment's stance on the statements made by IGN are. Not what RandomYoutuber2779's experience is.
You imply that I don't know how video games are made. I can assure you, I quite well understand the specifics you're talking about. 99 bugs in the code, patch one, 105 bugs in the code. I get it.
But what I don't really get is that this system was supposed to be launched 8 months ago. You and a few others keep pushing the line "it's not due out for five more months!", no it is OVERDUE at this point. And, yes, I fully understand that the pandemic and related issues has thrown things off significantly. But this product has now missed two different ship dates, with each delay being announced a few months out and being explained by chip/part shortages. Not by the operating system or software not being ready. And it's okay that it isn't ready. Absolutely, I'd rather you push back the release until the product is ready, until you can fulfill your promises, and until you have something worthy of the Intellivision name you're putting on the product. I don't want a low quality product that is just using the Intellivision name as branding like we saw a few years ago with those terrible LCD games. I want you to succeed and I want the INTELLIVISION Amico to be something you're proud of.
At this point, you are eight months overdue, the one independent, reputable press report is something you've attacked for getting facts wrong, and when I come here to directly ask questions, you and others attack me, insult my intelligence, give evasive answers, and try to bring up drama that I don't care about.
Again, I ask, as of this moment, to the best of your knowledge, do you believe the system is likely on track for a 10/10/2021 release date with founder editions to be in customers' hands prior to that date?
Thank you, Mr. Tallarico.-

1 hour ago, Swami said:It did, in fact, have a capacitive screen, but outdated firmware. The unit was in the Intellivision office when the IGN guy stopped by. It wasn’t sent over to the IGN guy.
I think that's part of the confusion. We're hearing the touch screen lag was due to outdated firmware that's since been fixed, but also hearing there was no lag. But, I guess this is all moot, since players are more interested in memes and personal attacks than discussing the facts.
1 hour ago, Tommy Tallarico said:
Probably mid to late July.Thank you for the straightforward answer. So, right now, would you say things are on-track?
-
Tommy: A follow-up question, since the lag may or may not be an issue that may or may not have already been addressed.
As of this moment, is everything on-target for having Founders Edition units in players' hands prior to the 10/10/2021 projected in-store date? I am well aware that everything from gas, to chicken, to pool chemicals are suffering from supply chain issues and I would wholly understand if the units are not going to ship on time.
If things are currently on schedule to get units into hands prior to the 10/10/2021 date, but there's a chance of things being delayed again, what do you feel is the "moment of truth" for knowing for sure when the unit will be delayed? I've seen talk about lines being reserved, production and shipping time frames, etc. Conservatively, when would you feel comfortable saying "If we make it to this date with no further issues, we will 100% be in stores on 10/10/2021." (obviously, something crazy like blocking the Suez Canal not withstanding). -
It sure would be nice to the Q and A thread was about Questions and Answers, rather than a few people throwing out personal insults, presumably hoping others will respond in kind so they have an excuse to remove them from the thread/forum. That won't work for me, sorry.
I also like how, instead of the Q&A thread being Qs and As, some people use it as a chance post long posts with images and videos that have nothing to do with the subject (and, heck, even their opening line states as much, so they're well aware that they're trying to derail a Q&A discussion) so they can push the entire topic out of the recent comments.
I'm here to talk Amico, players. Please check your personal dramas at the door. Thanks.

As mentioned prior, the mobile market consists of a huge audience who already has the hardware combined with very questionable (at best) revenue streams that are focused on predatory purchasing habits.
Again, I ask anyone to provide the top mobile charts with any P2P/P2W/Loot Box driven game data removed. That would tell a wholly different story.

Hello again, Tommy.
Thanks again for joining the conversation. However, again, I ask that you leave the drama at the door. I'm not interested in your "haters" or those "out to destroy the company".Also, I kindly ask that you drop the personal attacks. Trying to "shame" me or claiming I am "detached from reality" is not productive conversation. Again, I ask that we focus on the Amico. That's why we're all here, right?
Here's the biggest difference between @RandomYoutuber2997 making a statement that X is true and you saying X is true.
If the console ships and consumers find that X is not true, there is ZERO recourse for legal restitution against @RandomYoutuber2997. Even if there are consumer protection laws that may apply regarding compensated sponsorships and truth in advertising laws, and even if a court would find one or more random Youtuber to be liable for any false statements they may have made, my guess is that these individuals are largely what you'd call judgement proof. I seriously doubt any significant consumer of the Amico would be able to reacquire any significant amount of their initial investment from them.
Intellivision Entertainment, however, is a different story. I sincerely don't think you or those who are helping you market the brand would be willing to put out an official Intellivision Entertainment video stating something that is simply factually incorrect. If Intellivision Entertainment puts out a video that includes false statements of fact and doctored video, this would open the door wildly for litigation once the product is released and consumers find out they were presented with false information via official channels.
If Intellivision Entertainment puts out a video showing and stating little to no perceivable lag or input problems, then 100%, I would believe you because, frankly, I can't imagine you and yours being stupid enough to do something so damaging and opening you up to so much liability.Hope that helps you understand where I'm coming from.

3 hours ago, atarifan88 said:All this going around in circles about lag or no lag is pointless at the moment as the console isn't 100% complete yet.
Yes and no.
It is absolutely okay for the system to have issues at this point. Perfectly okay and understandable.Does this issue exist? That is all I would like to see proof of. Not compensated testimonials. I could give you a dozen scientologists who would swear to your face that Xenu is real. I just want to see proof of it myself before I change my mind.
If Intellivision Entertainment said "Yes, there are some lag issues we're still working out.", then that would be understandable. But that's not what is being said. So, for you to say "It's pointless to ask about issues on an unfinished product" is frankly disingenuous and not conducive to the conversation at all. The question is less about if there is lag and more about if there are issues (frankly, a pretty petty and small issue) that Intellivision Entertainment are denying exists for virtually no reason. Because if they're willing to bend the truth about something this petty, what else are they lying to us about.Hope that helps you (and some others) understand the concern, Thanks.

Hi,
Thank you for joining in the discussion. I'm glad that Amico has interested you enough to find out more info.
Dozens of people who played it said there is no perceivable lag in gameplay (and they were specifically looking for it).[drama]
There are many videos out there at this point from people who have played it and specifically mentioned zero perceivable lag.
But considering you seem very passionate on getting more proof, I do have a question...
Do you believe that the dozens of people who have played Amico are all lying?
A simple yes or no will do.[drama]
Thanks.Hi Tommy. Thanks for joining the discussion.
First, let me clarify that I'm simply not interested in the petty grievances others may have against you or what you're doing or what issues you may have with them. So let's move past that drama and stick to the amico, deal?
To answer your question, a simple yes or no won't do.
The problem is, many of the people who have commented on this are individuals who are invested, are receiving compensation, and/or are not professionals at reviewing hardware/software. Like the guy who runs the official amico sub on reddit. In very clear violation of reddit rules, he has received perks and boasted about getting them from Intellivision Entertainment. Reddit rules specifically forbid sub moderators from receiving any kind of compensation. You can see why I might be sus of someone like that. And youtubers who get rewarded with free hats, tee, and Q&As with you. Have you been willing to go on a youtube broadvast/interview with someone who has been openly critical of the amico? Or only those who support what you're doing?
The IGN article is the first time someone wholly independent of compensation has come out with a hands-on of the system. They showed a video of the screen being unresponsive and sluggish. You first said this was due to the system not being up to date - which is a perfectly reasonable explanation. You then said the lag doesn't exist. Which means you're saying the video is lying to my eyes.
Is there perceivable lag/response issues? If so, that's fine. You're at least five months from launch. Do these issues not exist at all? Even better! So.... can we see a video that is comparable to what IGN showed, but shows these specific issues have been addressed?
Thanks. -
45 minutes ago, Oldfool said:Alas, none of this matters too much, as these are not final systems. The proof will be in the future, when they can be released. The release has been delayed, and may be delayed again.

Demanding measurements on development units isn’t going to deliver anything.
Who is demanding measurements? I haven't seen anyone ask for that. A few quality videos is all I'm asking for.
You are correct, the lag (or lack of) isn't a huge deal. The official and compensated fan reaction to questions about the lag, however, is a concern. I'd rather IE be honest about what's going on than mislead and misdirect. For example, if they know it is highly unlikely to meet the 10/10 release, then announce it asap. Don't wait. -
Listen to the IGN guy. Not what he said, but what he said.
Understood.-

Am I supposed to go by what the IGN guy said or not?
Happy to watch video specifically highlighting the lag or lack of. More than happy to visit the offices and play it myself.Even happier to play the one I ordered nearly 18 months ago.

7 minutes ago, mr_me said:Is that the word he used. He was talking about the touchscreen display on the controller. He had a video attached to the article showing it. When asked to clarify on twitter about gameplay on the TV, he said "no lag".
According to a quote from the original, now-edited article that was posted and translated on the official Amico subreddit, yes.
QuoteBut due to the resistive touchscreen used in the controllers, I didn't feel it was fully responsive to touch and suffered from lags that disoriented you in the game.
Now, I don't have a link to the original, unedited article, not do I speak the language it appears to have been translated from. -
I'm also skeptical. It's like how he throws out the quote about Windows Solitaire. How many of us spent hours playing that because it was the only game we had access to on the computer we already had access to? No one played solitaire on a friend's computer (or saw a video of someone paying it) and rushed out to buy a PC so that they, too, could play solitaire.
There's "active" gaming and there's "passive" gaming. Active in that you go out of your way to play the games, passive in that it's more incidental. Snake was the most popular mobile game... when everyone had black and white Nokia phones that only had Snake on them.

The same IGN writer who originally described the lag as "disorientating". So, take that as you wish.
I am really looking forward to additional mainstream media doing some hands on with the system. -
Long time lurker, first time poster. Following the Amico since it was announced. Having grown up with the Intellivision (I own Congo Bongo!), I have a lot of love for those early gaming memories and a lot of love for how Keith treated the brand before his passing. Hoping to see the legacy continue. But that seems like a conversation not meant for this thread.

Something else with mobile games - Everyone has a cell phone. Kids have cell phones. I have two cell phones (work and personal). You pretty much cannot be a functional adult in the modern world without a cell phone.
You want to compare buying a $250+ system that only plays games to a device you're almost required to have, allows you to communicate, get virtually any information at your fingertips, takes photos, videos, gives GPS directions, plays movies and music AND games?
Additionally, everyone throwing out the billions different cell phone games make... what's the highest grossing mobile game that doesn't offer microtransactions, gambling mechanics, or other Pay to Play/Pay to Win mechanics?
Because that's how those games make their billions.-

I don't think it is unreasonable to assume that no one is talking in absolutes. Obviously, when I say "no lag", I mean lag that isn't perceivable enough to be distracting (or "disorientating", not my quote) from the gameplay.
We already know the system lags at least a year behind.-

Well, I'd still like to hear an official reason as to why showing gameplay without lag is a problem. We've seen gameplay with lag, so it'd be nice to see some without.

The problem is that Intellivision Entertainment has already made the choice to start down that road. The moment they responded to the criticism in anyway whatsoever is the moment they gave credibility to the claims. And it's pretty easy to prove the claims wrong and only one side can actually do that.

Couldn't you just upload some video showing there's no lag? Or is there some kind of NDA/Legal Paperwork stopping you from doing this? Seems like a pretty simple rebellion to put down.

Amico competitor in the cloud - AirConsole
in Intellivision Amico
Posted
The irony is that so many of the classic Intellivision library games are just impossible to pick up and play. Seriously, give a non-gamer virtually any of the classics. Utopia. Cloudy Mountain, TRON Maze-a-thon...
Without manuals or expierenced players to show them how to play, they'll never figure it out. And that was part of what made the original Intellivision stand apart.
