PS1 won't work with 1970's TV
bowser724 replied to Atari Charles's topic in Modern Console Discussion
My TV is from the mid-'80s and it was the cheapest one at Sears. It only has the 300-Ohm 2-prong connectors in the back, so I got a connector that converts that to the 80-Ohm coaxial connector. I hooked my VCR to that, and my PS1 to the AV inputs, and this worked quite nicely. -
I enjoy this version even more than Rob Kudla's version in the store! Will it be available any time soon?

looking for alternate version of lemmings
bowser724 replied to Shannon's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I really heart the PC DOS versions of Lemmings and Oh No! More Lemmings. Played those a helluva lot growing up. -
The DOS Dig Dug PC Booter disk. Either that or Zig Zag (Galaxian Hardware) on MAME.

I think what they were going for was a "home-video" style of shooting, like Curb Your Enthusiasm or The Office. Those shows didn't need tripods under their cameras to be awesome. I think it makes the viewer seem less removed from the action.

I'd like to see Motos Tempest(a good version) ~_n

Quantum- extremely overlooked atari game
bowser724 replied to bowser724's topic in Arcade and Pinball
A Quantum machine converted to a Street Fighter?? Wow! Must've replaced the PCB AND the monitor then, because Quantum was a vector game. -
It would be very nice to have the spinner for paddle games, and also for Tempest. That would be f'n sweet. The trackball too, for games like Quantum and Missile Command.
-
This game is so fun. You control a little cursor thing, and you have to encircle and engulf cosmic particles with a trackball.
-
Get a Midway Pac-Man machine with a speedup hack, and people won't be able to keep their hands off it. Another idea? Hmm. A Star Wars machine. The real vector game from '83.

SEGA Star Wars arcade - ever seen it in real life?
bowser724 replied to Flojomojo's topic in Arcade and Pinball
There's one in the Chuck E. Cheese in Edina, MN. -
Been looking at this thing...It's supposed to be awesome for MAME. It has 2 joysticks, a dial, and a trackball, with pinball flipper buttons on the sides to boot. Does anyone have one? What do you think of it? http://www.treyonics.com/welcome.htm

Tried to purchase one, and couldn't. Are they out of stock? When will more be arriving?

an old b/w one called Boot Hill. I believe Outlaw was based on it.

I remember all those MECC games from school, esp. the Muncher games and Path Tactics.

"Into Sandy's City" from Doom II. The whole soundtrack from Doom and Doom II by Bobby Prince is generally good, and same with the Skullmonkeys and Neverhood soundtracks by Terry S. Taylor. The practice music from Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (genesis) is also very good.

There's a user on Ebay that makes and sells A/V composite cables for the TI-99/4A. Got one offa him and it works great. His username is great-awk. He doesn't currently have any for sale but I'm sure you could contact him and arrange something.

I voted on my DS. I've played it basically every single day since I got it. With Animal Crossing: Wild World, you can't get bored. Also the Wi-Fi with ACWW and MKDS is awesome. All that annoys me about the MKDS Wi-Fi is that people disconnect when they know they're losing. Also, Polarium is addictive, as is Advance Wars: Dual Strike. That's a helluva multiplayer right there. Using the touch screen for analog control in SM64DS is a bit annoying, because the thumb strap's toucher is a little too big, so that you can't go all the way to the edge of the touch screen when moving it vertically. That's why I generally use the D-pad for Adventure mode. The minigames are berry fun, and the new levels, while simplistic, are quite entertaining.
