  1. Actually, Thorsten, the Amiga does indeed have NTSC/PAL differences. I've an A1200 that not only shows PAL as the default monitor-type, but also refuses to give color on ANYTHING but my NEC XM2960. Mostly due to the color encoder for composite out. I think the same on ST machines could be said for the STm/STFm machines.
  2. My stuff listed is not for sale for the time being. Surgery coming up, and will be off my feet for a couple months. I'll re-open as soon as I get better.
  3. newcoleco, have you tried the trick of using the noise channel on the third audio channel of the coleco? I know it's emulated in the Chipsounds VST plugin, and it allows for a bigger octave variation than the dedicated noise channel.
  4. Nevermind, forgot to dial down the AFT. Forgive my moment of "derp". Clicking this door shut and handing the mods the key.
  5. As the topic states, I'm looking into eventually doing game recording of some kind for my various systems (Ataris, ST, Coleco, Intellivision, NES, SMS, Amiga, etc). As the topic states, I'll be using the various passthrus of my NEC XM-29 Plus to do so. Here's where things get rather confusing: Quite a few of my systems support RGB output, and some (like my Amiga) support multiple low/mid-res settings. I have also contemplated building a supergun to use on the monitor to try and record arcade games. For those, my concerns are mainly with the mid-res games. Does anyone have a solution for capturing the RGB pass-thru from my monitor?
  6. Sure I mentioned it, but Miracle Strip Amusement Park in Panama City Beach FL had a really nice one. Space Invaders Part II, Jr. Pac-Man, DK, DK Jr, Double Dragon, Crystal Castles, and numerous other classics. Sadly it and the amusement park itself are gone (much to the infuriation of myself and a friend who lives there). It was one of the highlights of summer trips to that beach.
  7. Yeah, plus I've also been told not to exactly trust ones that like to advertise their firms on TV or such. Almost learned it the hard way.
  8. Yeah, Disjaukifa and a couple others have a good point. There can be some lawyers (especially in a worker's comp. case) that can be very ruthless and scary people, but are actually quite pleasant to speak to otherwise. I think it's mainly the ones shown on TV that people mostly associate with.
  9. The ports of games like Defender, Dig Dug, Centipede and Pac-Man are incredibly well-done. The system also enjoyed some pretty swank ports of Burgertime and Lock'n'Chase. A couple of really good non-arcade games to try (if you can find them for cheap) are Thunder Castle (awesome music), and "Tower of Doom" (some serious RPG stuff for the system's time). I hope to score a boxed INTV 1 soon locally, and might look into the CC3 as a result myself.
  10. So, friend of mine gave me an old Sharp "Linytron" CRT television, and hooked up my Coleco for a round or three of Defender. Picture and sound from it were ok, but if I connected something else like my 5200's RF switch as the first device, the Coleco would buzz incessantly. Is it possible something inside the RF plug is going bad? (Yes, I know I need to get it refurbished and have the full A/V mod done soon.)
  11. Would you believe me if I said his reviews made me want an Astrocade even more?
  12. Yeah, once you remember what symbol does what (and the locations of important ones like Call Home and Landing Zone) the game can possibly be beaten in 5 minutes or less if you're fast enough. Another thing to keep in mind: when you fall into a well, hit the fire button to stop yourself in mid-air. It actually conserves more energy than hitting the bottom and levitating out.
  13. Sorry for not getting back to you. Sadly still waiting for check to arrive.
  14. I'm going to guess so. Interesting a joystick would need dielectric grease, though.
  15. Damn, Curt, you thought of everything with the inclusion of the kitchen sink and beyond. This could shape up to be one hell of a device once people start expanding it further.
  16. When Sega released "Fantasy Zone Collection" in Japan, they did a complete arcade REMAKE of "Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa". Tough-as-nails still, and three endings despite how you play through the game.
  17. Eh, people are always gonna find new ways to try and make as much as they can on used. Should see what a few places in central Florida want to charge for pre-modded 80s consoles. Oh, to ax and Shawn Sr, according to a friend of mine anyone who uses Twitter is called a "twitterpatter" (just to keep that movie's references going, heh).
  18. True, Brian, but they were nowhere near as powerful in the arcade as the Nintendo (or even SMS) ports. Many of the end-bosses are taken out in a single bomb with the home versions (TAS videos of them show how easy it is, especially the Tengen port). It's just sick.
  19. There were a few. Sunsoft's sprites and colors are a lot nicer and easier on the eyes (even the stage 4 boss swings its tentacles more closely to its arcade counterpart). Tengen was a bit easier, as you always got high-value coins and bosses dropped BAGS of money worth a lot. I think in both versions, the Heavy Bombs are quite overpowered.
  20. Thanks. I can wait (checks arrive every other Saturday) to order a copy. I'm in no big rush at the moment.
  21. Well damn, man. I've a spare one. Would you like with or without orange stripe? Just bear in mind, I haven't been doing well at all mobility-wise lately (I'll need a friend to help me with getting to/from the post office and such). I can still provide, though. I'll probably need to scrounge for a replacement power brick.
  22. I am signed up, guess I'll have to contact this weekend when my next check comes.
  23. Damn.. I can't believe I missed my chance to get it. I guess I'll have to pay attention to the mailing list then.
