  1. RJ, what if I were to get two tanksticks to have a second person join in on the total carnage (which, btw, I love it!)? I saw the console adapters plug into two ports at once. Could I leave one for each unplugged so two players can play at the same time?
  2. Only real question I have is games like Smash T.V. How do you do the 2-player mode on it? (especially for Midway Arcade Treasures for PS2/GC/xbox)
  3. Well, thankfully from what I've seen X-Gaming actually will allow (and even encourage) modding. So addressing a few of these issues are pretty simple. One can get a switchable 4/8-way stick (I know there are some companies that sell ones you can pull up and twist to switch), spinner can be modded in (as believe it or not, Pole Position's "wheel" is an over-sized spinner), analog pots for paddle games. It's really up to the owner what they want to do.
  4. Graphically it's better (and just missing the better-detailed sprites and the markers to tell how close you are to the boss like on the NES version), but a lack of 2-button attacking on a system with 2-button controllers doesn't cut it.
  5. Just wanna chime in again and state it's a bit odd playing the Atari 2600 counterpart with a paddle controller.
  6. Yes it does. Considering how many of Konami's 16-bit arcade games also used it, I'd say it was a damn good chip. Heard your PMC demo for the MSX2 on youtube. Quite impressive, man, quite impressive.
  7. Bentley, I think it was worse on the 7800. That system had two buttons yet kept the 2600 control setup. I think Absolute could've done a "slightly" better job.
  8. Yeah, Maverick Hunter X was a favorite of a friend of mine. Mostly because he enjoyed the G-Gundam series (turns out just about every major voice actor from that had a part in MHX).
  9. Yeah, it and the Maverick Hunter X games were supposed to be series remakes. Sadly, neither game made enough sales to warrant continuing.
  10. Definitely becoming worth the cash I paid for at a local flea market. I'd say the fourth floor (with its boss) and Mr. X are probably the most difficult parts of the game. Also, to kyle and Omegamatrix, something about playing the game with my Genesis "Megafire" pad just feels right.
  11. Yes, you can still download her costumes (if not, there are saves on GameFAQs that already have it unlocked). Plus there are still new levels being released online at Capcom's MegaNet servers last I played.

  13. First off, download a homebrew program called "PSPIdent". This will provide info on what type of 2000 he has (as that model series had at least five different motherboard revisions, the last revision being hack-proof from full CFW). After that it's a matter of downloading/installing the appropriate HEN/FCFW/LCFW of 6.39. I'm going to be at work from 5pm EST to 11:30pm EST (and will probably arrive home an hour afterwards), so let me know around then which version of the 2000 he has.
  14. I'll only add in from the position of someone that made his own game backups, but the PRO series of LCFW allows it off the bat, but TN's homebrew enabler requires a plugin (with software) in order to run such.
  15. Yeah, Kaettekita was the disk version in Japan. It didn't really add much more other than an updated coin sound and much larger sprites for enemies and fireballs. The XE version has all of the enemy introductions (showing you how to defeat them).

  17. Mario Bros for the XE. Best, repeat, BEST port I've ever played (even compared to Kaettekita Mario Bros. on the FDS). Also, there's Deluxe Invaders by Roklan, K-Razy Shootout, Zenji, Q*Bert, Frogger.. that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
  18. Cebus, the store still says there are 31 units in stock. Though, could Curt clarify on that slightly for everyone?
  19. Closest I know of (if you're willing to pony up the cash for the license to unlock the demo) is ChipSounds. It's about $90US and covers more than just the POKEY. Does the AY-3-8910/YM2149 (the latter on the ST), both versions of the SID, NES APU, the chip from the Coleco and Master System, Gameboy/SuperGameBoy, Atari 2600 TIA, and quite a few more I'd definitely try the demo first.
  20. Eh, it's only for version 5.03. I'd honestly say you're better off running either TotalN00b's homebrew enabler of firmware 6.39 or the lite custom firmwares of 6.39 from neur0n (anything but the PSP Go), or PRO-B7 (everything including the GO).

  22. Yeah, more homebrew are being re-written to take advantage of extra memory on the Slim and beyond for a start. Plus if you want to use the PSN for anything (like getting PS1 classics that Sony can properly convert that use CD audio music), you can purchase/download stuff from there.
  23. As far as where to find the latest OFW and the custom stuff, try sites like pspslimhacks.com
  24. nonner, thankfully there's lite custom firmware now. All you have to do is put it in /PSP/GAME in an appropriate sub-folder, and run it like it was an installed game. Gives you the benefits of custom firmware without the nasty risks of bricking.
