Is hacking a PSP as hard as it was a year ago?
NightSprinter replied to Ataritard's topic in Emulation
Yeah, even the custom firmware released of the latest official versions even have clear-cut instructions on how to install them. I believe they even let you go onto PSN without issue for online games and the store. -
Well, been looking at replacing my 1084S-D (mostly due to size) and have been looking at other solutions for my RGB-capable systems. I've been looking at a 19" Sony PVM monitor (as it does PAL with ease), but I've also been considering a CSY-2100 rgb-to-component converter. Here's the question I have about the converter: is the color-space still in PAL if I hook up a PAL system via RGB (like my Amiga-1200)? I don't want to waste money on such without being able to display color through component on an American TV.

Hey Bob, also been trying the latest versions (the .bin file works, but the .a78 one crashes). Noticed neither ProSystem or the latest version of MESS for me plays either with the pokey sound. The previous version of the rom did somehow.
-
Put me down for a copy. Also, for some reason the 320P version crashes both ProSystem and MESS. MESS just gives an "unspecified error", while ProSystem just crashes.

musicalfish, I think it also has to do with the fact there are numerous co-processors available to use for SNES games (SuperFX, SuperFX2, C-3, C-4, SA-1, etc.). Once you figure those chips in, some extra CPU oomph's needed.

musicalfish, I was thinking of upgrading to the Go, since I like to have something portable and actually do more than play games on it. How's it stand up in comparison to the 3000? (I noticed even with the color profile turned to "normal", the color reproduction was still much better than a 2000). Latest official firmware is 6.39 -
Definitely a new fave of mine on the system. I think actually once you hit the 4x multiplier survival goes to all hell, as that's when it introduces the UFO to the mix. Just like in "Night Stalker" when the armored robot is introduced.

I'm having this issue as well with my INTV2. I'm going to wager a guess that something is wrong with the cart slot's connectors (probably dirty).
-
Hatta, I think the OP was also wanting to play some of the old Sierra and LucasArts games that utilized the MT-32 as well.

Well, having looked at a rear image of the GXPro it seems there is no 15-pin game port. I'd definitely give the folks over at VOGONS a question or two, given they definitely know their stuff on DOS machines.

Damn, Sal, take it easy ok? I know (as someone who's been going to college for business) that it's important to keep the operation going, but not at the expense of your health or worse. Your health first, business next. (Why does that sound like something Morticia would say on the Sat-AM "Addams Family" series?)

Missile Command was pretty good, especially with a trackball and putting the game into trackball mode. Robotron was quite enjoyable as well (especially with the dual-stick holder to play the game John-Woo style, just as in the arcade original). Frogger wasn't half-bad, though Popeye was tricky on the timing for hitting the beer bottles. Qix was an okay port, very awkward to not need a second button for fast drawing. Datasoft's version of Pac-Man was quite impressive, even better than the Atari 5200 version I might add. Ironic that not even Nintendo theirselves could top the XE port of Mario Bros. First time I played that a few years ago, I could've sworn I was playing the arcade game.
-
The site I referred also has a good bit of emulators and homebrew games. Here's the link to the PSP port of Cave Story. Highly recommended if you enjoyed the classic Metroid games. Multiple endings, too.

If I could, I'd get the Sears Super Video Arcade. Has that nice look that merges styles from the 70s and 80s, controller slots that make more sense (vertical instead of horizontal), and removable controllers. Though, if I can get the compatibility mod, composite mod, and get the cart slot cleaned (have the damndest time even getting carts I know to work to boot up), I'm quite happy with my INTV2.

What is your most rare colecovision game
NightSprinter replied to atari5200dude82's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
I guess my rarest would have to be PitStop by Epyx. -
TV? Oh, t hat thing I play video games on. I was actually playing a recent round of Astrosmash on my INTV2 earlier. That game really punishes you once you get to a 4x multiplier. Night Stalker's also bad once the Dalek-looking robot and worse, the scorpion robots make an entrance. I think the scorpion bots with the yellow shots are capable of destroying the safe-house?

Actually, all of the current custom-firmwares for 6.39 can be run straight from the latest official firmware. The news updates at PSP Slim hacks even give you instructions on how to properly install. I'd say your best bet is neur0n's 6.39-ME series.

I haven't tried MAME yet, of course I still gotta get my PSP-2k fixed up (replacement shell didn't work out so hot, LCD's backlight cable got irreparably damaged). -
If you've a PSP-1000 (original model, as you've stated), you're gold when it comes to emulation. There's full custom firmware of Sony's latest official stuff available, as well as a substantial amount of emulation and homebrew software to enjoy (like Cave Story). On top of that, I believe there are more emulators for the PSP than the DS and Android emulators were pulled from the market entirely.

Austin, those compilations make the PSP as Sony put it: a portable arcade. -
Honestly, I think the cable would be the simplest way to go. If you're going for an actual MPU-401 box, it could get pricey due to the fact it also needs the special ISA card to go with it.

I'm just going to say this and drop it: no need to lecture me on anything. I already know what you've said. I'm done on this thread.

You'll have to get the driver from queststudios to play Sierra games with the Mt-32 thru a soundblaster card. The soundblaster doesn't use a real uart for data transmission so when you load up Space Quest III (My personal favorite) it won't be able to load up the patch banks into the Mt-32. Hey, local. I forgot about that. What about compatible cards or stuff like a Gravis Ultrasound? Would those need a driver too?

I doubt it, but they did say again they're considering supporting purchased UMD titles on the Vita. Also as far as the Go is concerned, there is LCFW 6.39 PRO-B6 (do NOT use B7, it's only for hackable 1000 and 2000 models).
