I find that really wierd, as I have the games I bought from her. I wonder what's going on..

*Quote taken from the original Adventure instruction manual* "This is no easy task, as the Evil Magician has created three Dragons to hinder you in your quest for the Golden Chalice. There is Yorgle, the Yellow Dragon, who is just plain mean; there is Grundle, the Green Dragon who is mean and ferocious; and there is Rhindle, the Red Dragon, who is the most ferocious of all. Rhindle is also the fastest Dragon and is the most difficult to outmaneuver." Any personal input on this, Rhindle?

Looking for a great arcade style stick for PS2
NightSprinter replied to atarilovesyou's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Well, if I remember right, a lot of the arcade-style joysticks for the PS2 don't seem to work with "Namco Museum 50th Anniversary" due to the lack of Analog Mode (what was the thinking in this?) -
Grandpa has died (Midnight Mutants & Munsters)
NightSprinter replied to holygrailvideogames.com's topic in Atari 7800
Yeah, and to think yesterday morning I was watching an episode of "The Munsters" on TVLand (episode where Herman bets his car against a drag racer's and loses). He really was a great actor and one I remember well. Not only am I gonna miss the guy, but I will try and find both a loose and a boxed copy of Midnight Mutants to purchase in his memory. -
I have two sealed copies of Ikari Warriors and one sealed copy of Motorodeo that I won from Ms. Claudia Gucci on eBay. The thing is she lives in Miami, but it would seem she's had to have the games sent from Venezuela to her house, and then send them out. My second copy of Ikari and copy of Motorodeo took about eight weeks (due to her Christmas vacation), but despite a little box scuffling they arrived in fairly good condition (some minor dings on the second copy of Ikari, and the shrinkwrap is partially broken in that corner on the bottom). Otherwise she was a very good businessperson. She kept in touch constantly, made sure that the entire transaction went well, and kept following up with any e-mail I sent to her. Now as for testing the games.. eh.. there's this whole "leave it shrinkwrapped for collector value" vs. "open and play the hell out of the games" debate.

That'd make sense then. I never knew what the left switch was for, being I never had instructions to the cartridge all my life.

$9.99 and it did come with the box.

I've a few questions regarding the ST/TT/Falcon computers (being as I'm thinking of purchasing one for numerous reasons). First off, is there any place that I could buy any of the aformentioned computers for a fairly low price? I checked B&C Computervisions and the price for a refurbished Falcon030 with 14MB of memory was a bit rediculous ($999), same for a refurbished 1040STe with 4MB of memory ($849). Second, I want to know what recommended peripherals are needed outside of a mouse, joystick, and monitor? I'm wanting to make use of a MIDI keyboard I'll be buying soon (would like to take up music as an extra hobby, and want to get my feet wet with the ST while adding a nice item to the collection). Would I need any harddrives if I want to use programs like Cubase, and if so how large of a drive can I go and what will I need to make it work? Finally, where outside of eBay to I look for software? As mentioned I'd like to get Cubase and a couple other important programs, but also things such as entertainment software and the like (programming, etc.) as I want to do more than create chiptunes and play games. If anyone can give some advice, I'd love to hear what you guys gotta say. Yes, I do remember reading that one can connect the Jaguar's gamepads up to the ST's analog joystick ports (I guess that's why the Falcon was used in Jaguar development). So any help is appreciated in also finding another use for those ports.

FWIW, it's only the right-difficulty switch that affects whether or not Yorgle, Grindle, and Rhindle will chase you if you have a sword. I've confirmed this using both Stella, the Flashback 2, "Atari 80 Classic Games in One!", and an actual Adventure cartridge on a real 2600.

Yeah, I'm curious about the power supply as well, being that I won the Sears Tele-Games version (Pinball Breakaway) off eBay a week ago. It's definitely something I'd need info about before I go do something stupid like buy the power supply to a PONG unit and find out it won't fit.

Yeah, got this commercial downloaded for Google Video Player. I have to admit at least Atari TRIED to pique interest in its market audiences. I've seen a commercial for the Vic20 from Commodore and they just outright bashed the 2600 in a cold-hearted manner (making it look like kids who played videogames and didn't try to learn how to do things with a computer were stupid. I honestly as an IT student with friends in the videogaming industry find the Vic20 commercial insulting).

What "non video" games do you own?
NightSprinter replied to shadow460's topic in Classic Console Discussion
"Crossfire" is the name of the game you're talking about. When I was little I thought the game looked so cool because it looked like a real game of skill. For what I own: Zaxxon board game (still in original shrinkwrapping) Monopoly Showdown Yahtzee! Pictionary Uno! The original standard D&D game from 1992 that had the glossy fold-out paper maps and character/monster standups that you punch out of a sheet (with its first expansion "The Dragon's Den"). Tipsy Tower. -
I thought it was the Atari ST/TT line that used the AY-8190 (or its Yamaha equivalent), while the 8-bit line used POKEY for audio?

One of the biggest things ot the platform element to Wizards & Warriors for the NES is jump timing. Getting that down is CRITICAL to beating it. I also tried the "jumping around everywhere" thing when I was 7 years old when I first played it. Afterwards I realized that I have to time my jumps in order to properly get to whatever platform I wanted. This is even MORE of a critical factor in the second game, as you need to time jumps in order to acquire certain items (like what the Dragon needs to grant you access into the heart of the Volcano to battle the Fire Elemental).

I agree that it would be very nice, but I wouldn't want to give up a nicely-working Trak-Ball controller to do so.

Will the 5200 Genesis Redemption Adapter Work....
NightSprinter replied to Saccharin's topic in Atari 5200
Hot damn! That is a beautifully-modified CX-40. What joystick do you use for games that do require the analog controls? -
Try Super Breakout and if it's on the 800, Kaboom.

NES vs. NoaC - Screen Shots and Audio Clips
NightSprinter replied to FujiSkunk's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Aaannyyways.. getting back onto topic here. I've looked at the screenshots of Bubble Bobble , Galaga, Gauntlet, and Pac-Man so here's my thoughts on the four: Overall, it seems to just use the color is over-saturated in Bubble Bobble. I can still see where level one still has the candy-cane pattern intact. Galaga and Pac-Man have palettes that are MUCH darker than they should be. Everything should be two to three shades brighter than the NOAC outputs. Gauntlet just has all sorts of problems. Not only doesit use the wrong palette, but the NOAC apparently cannot handle MMC3 games like this apparently. In terms of the audio, it would seem the SquareWave channels are reversed (charangs used where there's supposed to be a square wave and vice-versa). -
Well, it sorta works on my iPAQ hx2415, but the speed is WAY too fast even with "limitation" or whatever the speed-limit setting is for PocketVCS. So yeah, Stella-CE is a hell of a great port.

Got the new RETRO GAMER!
NightSprinter replied to Flojomojo's topic in Gaming Publications and Websites
Picked up a copy at the Barnes & Noble in downtown Orlando. The title for it was just WRONG: "Rubber Lovin'". :rolling: I don't think some of the mates I know over in the UK would've even used that as a cover title for an overview of the Speccy. -
Eh, about Pac-Man I have actually noticed that the ghosts DO have different colors (not all of them yellow like the catalogs made it out to be). I'll have to break out the 2600 and 7800 again and test 'em side by side for that.
-
I guess so Gooch, but granted it still isn't the same. Still need to pick up a Trak-Ball for the 5200 off eBay or somewhere in the next month or so so I can enjoy a proper home version of Centipede. To be honest, I still have the original "Atari All-Stars" 1982 catalog poster which even shows the A400/800 version as a screenshot for the 5200 version.

The real Comparsions of real NES and GenerationNex
NightSprinter replied to Lacan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
For games to test, here's some suggestions: Kirby's Adventure is a good one to test (thanks to the colors and the PCM channel) Pac-Mania. Bubble Bobble (check the palette of the first level) The Guardian Legend Galaga (of course) Pac-Man (also another obvious one for sound) -

Went to a dinky thrift store off Hwy 17-92 over in Casselberry, and since I want to dabble a little bit into MIDI before the summer I spotted an old Voyetra V-4001 for a quarter and snagged it. Shame I don't have the rest of the hardware for it (as the place didn't have anything else it went to).
