Thinking of buying an Amiga 500, should I?
NightSprinter replied to bedouin's topic in Commodore Amiga
Jess, the CD32 is more POWERFUL than the A500. You got your info backwards, man. The CD32 can be upgraded into a beefier 1200 as remo mentioned. But for the classic A500 games.. I don't know how you could upgrade its memory. I'd try the AmigaKit website to see if they offer classic Amiga memory upgrades. -
Thinking of buying an Amiga 500, should I?
NightSprinter replied to bedouin's topic in Commodore Amiga
Not sure 'bout the power supply, Jess, but I can suggest one thing: upgrade to 1MB of Chip-RAM if at all possible. There are some A500 games that will NOT work on a mere 512KB (Ghosts 'n Goblins being one of them.. oh that was a hell of a sweet port.. not perfect.. but damn..). Also, for whoever was talking about the CD32, that is not an A500-class machine. That's actually just a console-focused A1200 (dead serious, compare the specs, plus the CD32 also uses a completely different chipset than the A500). But yeah, for a lot of the old games the A500 is an excellent choice. Just make sure you upgrade to 1MB of Chip-RAM and get a good joystick.. preferrably two-button for games like R-Type (yes, R-Type DOES use the second button.. found that out running WinUAE in the past). -
Well, the 2600 versions of Ikari Warriors I have (and getting a second copy of) and Motorodeo I'm going to be re-selling. I'm hoping to make some profit off of them so I can re-build my savings accounts (I'm having to risk my own cash so I can make some kinda money while in college). Maybe someday I'll buy a copy of some rare games for the sake of actually playing them.

I dunno, I actually enjoy the A800 version as well. Plus the A800 version also has an intro as opposed to the 7800 version. I guess some just want to jump right into the game after a title screen.

Using controllers with both a 2 and a 4-port.
NightSprinter replied to NightSprinter's topic in Atari 5200
Strange, because both of them booted cartridges up fine. -
Is there any reason why a controller for a 2-port 5200 won't work on a 4-port unit? I had to ask because I used to own both (and stupidly threw away the 4-port a decade ago), but when I tried to plug the controllers from the 2-port system into the 4-port, they would only work for the 4-port. What gives?

Yeah, I actually went and opened the Ballblazer box I got sealed at the flea market for $7 (which I posted about in the Thrift Finds thread), and discovered with was a red end-label. Now the real question (which can be asked on the 2600 forums) is: should an Atari 2600 boxed game have its shrinkwrap removed when sealed? Especially for gems like Ikari Warriors, Motorodeo, Gravitar (Silver Box/Label), Swordquest: Waterworld, and Quadrun?

What are your favorite disney games?
NightSprinter replied to 8th lutz's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Tron Deadly Discs (Intellivision) Discs of Tron (Arcade) Duck Tales (NES) The Jungle Book (Genesis/SNES) The Lion King (Genesis/NES/SMS.. yes I have the SMS version from Europe) And most importantly: Kingdom Hearts (PS2) Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (GBA) Tron 2.0 (PC) I gotta say I'm looking forward to KH2. The Tron level named "Space Paranoids" looks interesting. -
Yes, on the CX-80 model Trak-Ball controllers the screws ARE under the rubber feet. I can confirm this as I do own one of these.

What megaman should've been released on 7800?
NightSprinter replied to 8th lutz's topic in Atari 7800
Isn't that.. what the "Pause" button is for? -
Yeah, or the recent version of blueMSX as well. Problem is, ALL ColecoVision emulators will not work with OpCode's game demos due to some glitch in the joystick emulation. I can't tell if this is from programming in the game itself, or the emulators.

Where I found a picture of it. Well, if you scroll down a little, you'll see it (except the handle and action buttons on mine are a dark aqua-ish color, same for the various buttons on the bottom). The thing seems like it'll be fine for 4-way games in its current casing, but it's been virtually impossible to just try and pull off a simple fireball with these..

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
NightSprinter replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Oh man, did I make like a bandit with some scores: Sega Genesis Ver. 1 with 32X expansion, controllers, all hookups, and 13 games (12 in the box!) for $10 Genesis Ver. 2 with hookups and Sonic1 game (game in box) for $5 NES "Action Set" with hookups, controllers, and 7 games for $10 MS Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel for $5 Not bad, I'd have to say. -
Eh, I just decided "hell with it, I'll report this anyway". Bubble Bobble II (JR was the name for the JPN version) is valued at a mere $12 for a loose cartridge for GameBoy. Plus I also found a "Super 6-in-1" cartridge containing Puzzle Bobble, RockMan X, Battletank, Tom&Jerry (why?), Super Mario World, and Top Gear. Ok, I'm going to bed.
-
Pirate Bubble Bobble Jr. Cart People just don't learn. I'm seriously going to try and report this lowlife to eBay, and then to Nintendo. But right now I'm about to go to sleep, then deal with some shit at school that's going to screw over my financial aid after the Spring if they don't fix it.
-
Not exactly. The joystick itself is already USB. THe thing is, the controls aren't accurate-enough for some games (Street Fighter-type stuff, for example), and despite it shows up as an "8-button gamepad" in the Control Panel, I actually have to MANUALLY enable 8-button mode.
-
Has anyone ever bought one of those "Tornado USB Joystick" aracde "joysticks" on eBay? I'd really like to know if there's a better way to put the hardware to use OTHER than trashing it. I mean the stick itself at least has a decent set of microswitches.

As of next week, I will own a sealed copy of Motorodeo.
-
If it's stil listed as a 9, put me up for two sealed copies of Ikari Warriors as of next week.
-
Bounty Bob Atari XL Disk? Is it me, or does it just look like someone made a rather poor attempt to put this game on disk? I've been searching Google, but no luck in getting anything about the game being put on disk.

Well, in terms of Sony let's not forget they're losing even MORE money after the whole scandal regarding their DRM-protected CDs. That's going to even further hurt their production capability for the PS3. That, plus many games just don't seem to show very much innovation these days. I mean take a look at the releases for consoles lately: it's just the same sports, war, and FPS genres over and oer again.

Jakks Pacific Namco Ms Pac-Man Super Gamekey Combo
NightSprinter replied to TrekkiELO's topic in Dedicated Systems
That seems to be the major issue.. are the controls actually fixed, or do they still suck since they're using the less-comfortable housing from the original release? -
Best Buy has the FB2's on sale
NightSprinter replied to ATARIeric's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Ditto here for the Orlando region. -
Okay, what about the issue of single trak-ball and spinner units, and double ones (Marble Madness, etc.)? Also what about analog controls for games like Star Wars?

What classic games do you want on the A8
NightSprinter replied to carmel_andrews's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I'm not sure about a lot of these games, really. Many of them would NEED at LEAST a two-button joystick (CX-24 or similar) in order to play properly. I just can't fathom playing a game like Double Dragon with a single button. :/
