What? I had to ask, ya know.
-
I just want to know, since I haven't seen anything on this site's rarity list or in the newsletter Video Game Collecor in regards to a boxed copy of "Ikari Warriors" for the 2600. Would it be considered a hoax if someone found a boxed copy?

Arcade games you would've made good 7800 releases.
NightSprinter replied to Jonny_B's topic in Atari 7800
I have, brilliant and simple game. One problem: Nintendo kept pursuing legal action against the makers of the game because to them it was a blatant ripoff of Super Mario Bros. That, plus Nintendo WON the suit, and the game was pulled off the shelves. Even all the sequels were yanked. -
The question is, are you wanting the original version that was a virtual line-for-line code copy of the 5200 version, or the much better Atari XEGS version (thatt includes the introductions for each enemy type)?

Helmet, I just mentioned that one. *smirk* It could certainly be done better than the NES or GBC versions thanks to the higher resolution, and a POKEY chip. -

Frogger Galaxian Gradius (the original) Karate Champ Millipede Missile Command (Trak-Ball for that and Millipede, anyone?) Mr. Do! Mr. Do!'s Castle Rally-X New Rally-X Operation Wolf (if there was a way to fix the gun's accuracy) Phoenix Puyo Puyo Q*Bert Qix Q*Bert'S Qubes R-Type Raiden Rygar (though you could argue more for the NES version) S.T.U.N. Runner Satan's Hollow Side-Pocket Sinistar (BEWARE, COWARD! I am Sinistar..) Snow Bros. Solomon's Key Super Pang/Super Buster Bros. Zaxxon Super Zaxxon Wizard of Wor Yie Ar Kung Fu That's pretty much the list that I can create that are doable on the 7800.. I'd include "Smash TV".. but that's really a game meant for dual-joysticks for both players.. -
Does anyone own this Game Center?
NightSprinter replied to video game addict's topic in Auction Central
Neither. Once I can get the floppy drive working again, I should be able to upload the pics from this old sony mavica a friend let me borrow. -
Not to deviate further off my topic, but there are some hackers/coders that are making games that can't run on even 128KB (like that Space Harrior demo).
-
Thank you, Zwackery. That's just what I was wanting to hear in the simplest way possible. Now, would it still be considered R3 if it's new in the box?

I don't have that EXACT one, but I have something similar, as there's something on the side that appears to be able to hold Intellivision cartridges. -
This conversation is getting a bit too far off topic.. Can I get some actual suggestions here as to what to buy in the future to have a proper setup for the games I have (the 4-player, Atari 800-only, and XE-only games)
-
Yeah, I would like to purchase either an 800XL and have the memory upgraded to 320KB, or get an upgraded 130XE, but again I'm just a jobless full-time student right now and can't afford stuff at the moment (until my next disbursement in the spring). I just want to know what I should get for the future. Also keep in mind I DO have a four-player game, and player 3 just keeps moving in one direction while player 4 constantly has shields going.
-
I know that, Eric. I mean since I already own an XEGS, but I know there's stuff that only works on the A800, and there are games that NEED the full 128KB on the 130XE or even more. I want to know what's the actual best setup in terms of what systems I'd need.
-
Ok, doe sanyone know what would be the best setup for playing games on the 8-bit series? Just got my WORKING XE Game System today from Mitch (damn, man.. you got that thing here faster than I got the money to you). Thing is I'll be sending the broken one to somebody I know outside the forums to see if he can repair it, but it would probably entail sending the keyboard off too since he'll need that to fully test the unit. I do have at least one four-player game (Asteroids) and plan on getting more. I'm willing to go with a two-system setup. I just want to know what will work best for me since I do want teh four-player games, and need a computer for whenever I want to play Star Raiders. [Edit] I forgot to mention without a keyboard I can't make use of the special Trak-Ball mode that's put into Missile Command on the XEGS.
-
I just saw it at Target (spent a good 45 minutes acquainting myself with it.. heh.. fun games). I noticed that there's a large cartridge visible above the television set. I do believe this is where the games are. Considering that the cabinet DOES in fact have the famous "Street Fighter" layout, I'm imagining more licensed game cartridges will eventually contain some of Capcom's older fighters, or other games that made use of more than two buttons.

So.. why is the silver label done as an "R1" according to this site, while the red label is listed as an "R3"?
-
So to go back on topic folks, how much is the red end-label Ballblazer worth since I actually have an R3 cartridge?
-
Telenguard, just how does the "swappable control panel" idea work, and what about the whole "vertical/horizontal" game issue? Those are the ONLY two problems I have in regards to building mine.

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
NightSprinter replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Ok folks, update to the BallBlazer cartridge I found at FleaWorld in Sanford, FL for $7 sealed in the box. After tearing open the top of the shrinkwrap and opening the box I discovered that my cartridge is actually the RED end-label version. So I officially have an R3 cartridge as my first 7800 game. Plus at the Gameware in downtown orlando I found a Wisdom Tree game for the NES for about $4 or $5 -
Not sure how often language is moderated/censored on these forums.. but HOLY SHIT!! I just managed to get myself a NICE buy for $7 at a flea market then (if I'm guessing right).. I guess that was worth cracking open the box and finding I had an R3 cart..
-
So, I broke under pressure and carefully lifted up the top of the shrinkwrap after cutting it open so I can open up my sealed, boxed copy of Ballblazer for the Atari 7800, and I noticed the front label is silver while the top/end label is red. Was this a mis-print, or does anyone else here have a cartridge like this?
-
Heh, if I only had the skills to do so.
-
Actually, the green creatures are Slick (wears shades), and Sam (no shades). Wrong-Way is one of the purple creatures that are deadly to touch.

Is it worth repairing an XEGS board with new chips
NightSprinter replied to NightSprinter's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Be quiet, Patrick. But yeah, I'll send you a PM Mitch. Maybe I could at least see if I can get a friend to de-solder the 12294B (XL/XE POKEY) chip and use it when I can spare some cash from next term's disbursement for a CC2. -

YES! Thank you! I've been looking for that. Now to go back on-topic, anyone have an answer regarding the XEGS board?
