  1. Yeah, now get off my lawn, you whippersnapper! 😜
  2. I'm "resurrecting" this old thread just to mention that, last Saturday, I contacted all the people who pre-ordered an Asteroids Controller earlier this year, in order to start collecting the 50$ deposits. There are plenty of people who haven't replied yet, so if you pre-ordered an Asteroids Controller, you should really take a quick look at your junk/spam box.
  3. Would you, by any chance, happen to own a complete-in-box European edition of Gyruss for ColecoVision? I'm still looking for that one for my trading card project.
  4. Jokes aside, though, if someone pulled off SMB on the ColecoVision with relatively smooth scrolling, I'd be mighty impressed.
  5. Speaking from experience, I'd say using my income as an adult to get stuff I couldn't get as a kid is the main reason why I buy the video games and memorabilia that I occasionally buy. I can't imagine myself collecting for the PlayStation or anything that came afterwards because I never developed any nostalgia for those later consoles (aside from Castlevania SOTN and maybe Mega Man Legends). If I endeavor to assemble a collection of video games, I'll be satisfied with a partial collection that encompasses the games I genuinely care about, I'm not going to force myself to buy shovelware crap just to say that I own every last game for a particular system. That means if I go on a shopping spree, there will be an end to it at one point, and I won't have spent a fortune to acquire everything I set out to get. So is there such a thing as toxic nostalgia? Seeing the large collections some guys have assembled seemingly just for the heck of having complete collections, while being fully aware that they'd need five lifetimes to actually play all the games they own, I'd say toxic nostalgia in indeed a thing, but it can only really be called "toxic" if one is spending beyond his disposable income. If he has the money and has nothing better to spend it on, then hey, it's a free country.
  6. Tell me about it! I put a lot of time into all those label templates! Actually, I don't see how that would fit on a mini-cart...
  7. Just in case anyone here is interested: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/254792747493 I also put a few non-ColecoVision items up for auction, notably some MSX and SG-1000 games, everything with a starting bid of 1$ because I don't have the hardware to tests the games. Good luck to all bidders!
  8. I'm not looking to spark any kind of controversy here, but if you're going to include a box for this release, shouldn't there be some text somewhere on the front of the box that says "FOR USE WITH COLECOVISION AND ADAM", or something of the sort? Same goes for the cartridge label. Unless the box is meant to be used for multiple platforms?
  9. Well, if you just want to test that your Smurf cart still works, you're probably just going to pick skill level 1, right? 😜
  10. That would make Smurf like Pitfall without any challenging obstacles. In other words, a cake walk. Be careful what you wish for!
  11. Here's a video of MSX Super Pierrot in action. The music and sound effects alone are great.
  12. Is the Analogue 8 still a thing? After the Duo's announcement, I thought it was just a passing trademark that fell in the proverbial crack. Did Kevtris or someone else at Analogue confirm that the Analogue 8 and the Analogue Duo are not one and the same? Also, I feel a bit cheated myself, having bought an "original" Nt Mini at full price and now the Noir in seeing cores that were not (and probably cannot) be released on the original. As far as actual gaming goes, I don't mind it too much, I'm okay with the jailbreak stuff I have now on my Nt Mini, but the value of the "old" Mini is obviously going to go down in value. If I ever decide to part with my Nt Mini, I'll be lucky if I sell it at half the price I payed for it.
  13. Interesting. Are both pictures above taken from the same boxed unit, meaning that they packaged the two-button version of the Fire Command II in a box which only shows one fire button on each side?
  14. Another one that deserves a release is Do Run Run. The MSX version (known as Super Pierrot) is surprisingly well done when compared to the arcade game, so a port of that version would be a good addition to the ColecoVision library.
  15. Ah the memories... I do hope the game gets made with those graphics. We did prepare the graphics for all the levels, didn't we?
  16. The following video indicates that the data pins of the USB port are not connected to the CPU, so no earphones, sadly.
  17. They could probably get away with replacing Popeye/Bluto/Olive with Mario/DK/Pauline. Same goes with Snoopy Tennis, just replace the Peanuts characters with various Mario characters.
  18. Indeed. Releasing a new unit with the exact same form factor (and color screen) as the SMB unit, but with a collection of Game & Watch games would be an interesting product for many. They could easily fit these into the unit: - Ball - Flagman - Vermin - Fire - Manhole - Helmet - Lion - Parachute - Octopus - Chef - Egg - Turtle Bridge - Donkey Kong Junior - Mario's Cement Factory - Tropical Fish - Super Mario Bros - Climber - Balloon Fight Many of the best Game & Watches are the ones with two screens, but I think the list above contains enough interesting classics. You can leave this in your coat pocket, take it out whenever, and play whichever game you're in the mood to play. Flagman and Lion could be a bit awkward to play, but it could work with a combination of D-Pad and buttons I suppose. Sadly, they probably couldn't include Popeye and Snoopy Tennis because of licensing. T'would be nice if they could manage it though. Fire Attack could also be included, but they'd need to replace the far west setting with a circus backdrop and replace the Indians with monkeys, because 2020. The best thing is that they wouldn't need to alter anything in the physical design of the unit: Use the same electronics, controls, screen and casing as the SMB unit, and just do reproductions of their G&W games like they did with Ball. And they could include clock features too, of course.
  19. Nope, it's actually being programmed from scratch by long-time collaborator Mystery Man. If it hadn't been for Covid, it probably would have been completed months ago.
