1. Well guys, so far the best I've been able to manage is getting RCA inputs to my capture card. I haven't used my Atari 2600 or 7800 in so long, I'm not even sure they are working correctly since I can't seem to even get them working straight to my TV through COAX. I'm still looking for a suitable converter, either from COAX to HDMI or a connector to RCA. I've purchased a mod kit from EBay for my 2600, we'll see how that goes. Incidentally, if you guys are interested, the final product will be streamed live here: https://mixer.com/MoonLghtKnght Eventually, anyway. My goal is to live stream retro games of all sorts. So far, there are very few who do that. I'm happy to fill the niche.
2. Firestar, I assume you're suggesting something like this then? https://www.ebay.com/i/311634197062?chn=ps&dispItem=1
3. I may not have explained my situation correctly. I have a switch box that will output to COAX. My TV will accept that, but it has to go through the Elgato before it gets to the TV. The Elgato only accepts HDMI input. Do you know of a way to switch COAX to HDMI? If I have that, I think I can do it. Even better if I can get a multitap with RCA inputs and a COAX output so I can have several systems on one box. As of yet, I haven't been able to find anything that would work.
4. Hey guys, been a long time since I've been here, but I have a question I'm sure can be answered by this forum. I was looking through the database and there are a few threads about streaming Atari to things like Twitch and now, Mixer, but I couldn't make heads or tails of what was being said in those threads. I use Mixer, and I'd like to stream some of the old games to it directly from my old consoles. I've never been a fan of emulators because I find the games don't always play well when you use those. I need a little help getting the signal to my computer. Here's the equipment I have so far: An older Samsung TV with inputs from RCA all the way to HDMI. An unmodified Atari An Atari switch box with a COAX adapter An Elgato HD60 capture device. This plugs into my computer via USB XSplit streaming program. So really, I need a way to hook the Atari to the TV so I can see the game, and then run the signal into my computer to capture it. With what I have, what is the best way to get this accomplished, and what am I missing that I will need to add? Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
5. Haven't been here in a long time, but was just looking through this entire thread out of curiosity. I'm both jealous and impressed with your sizable collection. I've never been a fan of repros, but it's an impressive collection nonetheless. Considering the sheer amount of money you have invested in this, I certainly hope you have it all well protected.
6. *Hugs his close to his chest* You'll never get mine... NEVER!
7. Yeah, but if you really look at those emails they are SO easy to spot... Half the ones I get have me giving someone an outrageous sum of money which I know these people never got. Can't give what you don't have.
8. Well I haven't played this for a while so I can't remember if I've ever done much better than this or not. Here's my try.
9. Gave it another shot... still hard, but I improved my score. Here's my second try: My Quadrun score
10. Well this is a hard game... Here's my try: My Quadrun score
11. Ok... so you sniped it out from under him and he whined about it? Too bad you did nothing wrong. Let him whine and ignore his A$$.
12. do you have an extra supercharger? 1004075 Sorry no I don't, although I will probably have some games for sale shortly.
13. Greetings! I have just the thing that might help you. Here's what I do: At just about any office store, they sell 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" labels. There are two per page and usually about 50 per package. I get them for about $11. What I do is cut them down the dividing line in the middle. Put the label in, with a piece of paper behind. The label will print, then the details will get printed out on the paper behind. It's not the prettiest solution, but I've never wasted a label since!
14. Greetings! Sorry I have to necro post like this, but I am really interested in this project. I'm wondering, was this put on the back burner or is it still "in the works"? I would love to see a finished product on this, as it was always on my Atari "wish list" for game ports.
15. The district attorney is probably considering spearate criminal charges against Pac-Man for drug possesion. Since he's a celebrity and this is his first offense, he'll probably only get a fine and probation...
16. Chances are it works fine. Atari games are rather hard to kill. The third party games seem to die more often. You might have to push the guard back and clean the contacts if the game looks dirty and doesn't fire up on the first try. I'd be more worried about the Touch Pad being dead than the game itself.
17. While I don't disagree with you that presentation is key, sometimes presentation only matters for the first bid. Some people after that decide "I'm gonna get THIS one no matter what!" Instead of look for a cheaper one or searching out a better looking BIN auction, they get it in their head that they have to have this certain one. Personally, I wish I could sell an Atari with a bunch of common games for that much too!
18. Actually Communist Mutants was the one I already had. I bought the auction for the other two boxed versions. I have them both unboxed already.
19. I disagree. Not leaving feedback is a perfectly acceptable practice and completely within EBay policy. I do it myself with every selling transaction. Why? Because people are quick to use feedback to attack sellers or worse, buyers often do not leave feedback at all. I refuse to be the victim of someone's quick temper, nor will I advance the reputation of someone else without any reciprocation. Feedback works both ways. I do my business honestly and fairly, but that doesn't mean I won't make a mistake. I would hope a buyer would give me an opportunity to make ammends before using feedback in a negative manner. I always give sellers a chance to fix a mistake before leaving MY feedback and I'm always polite in asking since there's no way of knowing whether it is intentional or not. Their response dictates my next action. I'm siding with neither of them. They both did things that were improper and let the situation devolve into this hate fest. All of it could have been avoided with some simple courtesy.
20. WOW... that's a hard game. Getting a target lock isn't easy. My only tip for this game is stay above 10 ALT, that way in case you get "shot down" you won't hit the ground when you lose ALT. here's my try, it will probably be the best I can do.
21. There's a good reason for that... Most people, including me, are tired of reading a six word description of an item that is no where close to being adequate, followed by a thirteen page essay of disclaimers in a barrage of fonts and colors that are just a pure pain in the ass to read. In that case, I usually don't bid... Jerry 1003025 The length of the disclaimers is usually BECAUSE people don't read and the wordsmithing is to protect the seller. Some items don't need more than a sentence or two of description. Others do, and you as the buyer need to figure out which auction is which (which isn't the way it should be... but it is) I don't remember who said it, but it was on I think I saw it on this board... something to the affect that "Sellers should have to take a short test before they are allowed to sell." I agree there should be some sort of questionaire, although I couldn't say what should be on it. Chances are it would eliminate a sizable percentage of "bad sellers" and increase the reputation of the site as a whole.
22. No matter what, no one deserves to be verbal attacked the way the buyer attacked this seller. NO MATTER WHAT. Take a picture of the item, tell the seller it is unacceptable POLITELY, and ask for a refund. If the seller had given the refund without a hassle, then they could have just both walked away. If he seller had acted like an ass, THEN take action. The seller wasn't even given the chance to make things right before being verbally abused. Point being, they were both in the wrong. I don't disagree that the seller did something wrong, but that doesn't excuse the buyer from being an ass as well. Second of all... that whole About Me age is against EBay policy. You are not allow to use an About Me page to attack another EBay user. I looked it up not long ago. And as to this statement A.J. : Now go back to the "about me" page, and note that the gun as received, did not have a neatly wrapped cord, and the plug was yanked off the end of the cord. Buyright41 did NOT cut it off as the email reply, extremely suspiciously, requested. How many sellers would ask for a dissatisfied buyer to do such a strange thing? I give you this from tandt: I just need something that proves to me that you are not keeping it to use it. I have people try to scam me all the time. I can believe that. Sending back only the plug saves postage... tandt probably didn't want to have to reimburse the full cost of mailing the gun back as well. Plus this way tandt knows it wasn't just a scam to get a free gun. Personally I feel bad for them both... Again, I don't disagree that honest dealing is the way people should do business on EBay... but you and I both know that's not what happens. The only person you can control on EBay is yourself.
23. After reading your post and rereading the buyers "rant", I have to agree with you, Christopher. The basic principal is a sound one, but attacking the seller like that only leads to a bad situation. Sounds like a case of sour grapes gone horribly wrong, with a "poor, poor, pitiful me" plea thrown in for flavor. Right message, wrong presentation.
24. I haven't run into that issue, but I could see it happening. When I attempt to outbid people though... I do it to win. I really want that item! The Paypal case is easily won as well... all you have to do is use Paypal to buy your postage! I do this all the time, and I always get a tracking number. Any buyer that would try to say "I didn't recieve it" would have to try to answer that. Protect yourself with a little common sense and some readily available tools before doing business on EBay and the number of "bad transactions" will be extremely low or non-existant.
25. I agree, because isn't that what EBay is all about anyway? Trying to find something for the lowest price possible? If the seller is willing to part with something for a certain price and someone is willing to buy it for said price, then both parties have accomplished what they set out to do. Envy the buyer, pity the seller, but don't call either person names. Even if you do have details on how the transaction went down, they are really irrelevant. They both got something they wanted and a deal was completed.
