quote: Originally posted by Dutchman2000: A SwordQuest "fan" dribbled the following: "Hello. I collect video games, systems, coin-ops, you name it....from all genres, decades etc. You get my drift. Anyway, my one passion in all of video games is the Swordquest series. I remember as a kid pouring my heart into those games and becoming enthralled in the storyline as told through the comics. Being quite young I had no shot at the prize money, but it was a great fantasy of mine. I currently own several rarities of the Swordquest collection, including several of the Swordquest Adventurer T-shirts and 3 copies of the WaterWorld game cartridge. My favorite piece of my collection, though, is the WaterWorld contest entry-form/poster. I have it framed with the other two in my game room. This piece is my favorite because after roughly 3 years of snooping around, I've only been able to locate 3 others in the world which are still intact (not having been torn off to enter the contest...or thrown away for that matter) and mine is in gem mint condition. I also plan on bidding on the Fireworld chalice from Michael Rideout should he someday choose to auction it. Anyway I've rambled enough... I recently stumbled upon your website advertising the underground production of the Airworld cart and comic. I ask this with no ill-temperment towards yourself or your enthusiasm, but please do not complete this game. Part of the mystique of the Swordquest series lies in the fact that it is an unfinished story. It makes rumors such as the Beta-testing Airworld cart or the possible existence of a partial Airworld comic all the more exciting. It is a direct reflection of the hard times our friends at Atari were enduring, and I feel that it should be left that way. If Airworld were produced at all, I feel that it should be done by Gerry Conway and Tod Frye. Even then, after all these years I would remain a bit reluctant to accept their creation. Basically, I feel that a release of an Airworld game by a home-hobbyist after all these years would tarnish what several collectors and I hold as a very bright memory of our childhoods. My opinions will surely disappoint you, and I'm sorry for that. I am very much in favor of the home hobbyist keeping the 2600 alive through their creations, just not in this case. Please understand my perspective. I don't anticipate you will agree with me, and I only feel it would be fair to tell you that I hope to have this letter posted on the 2600 connection fanzine, and my opinions shall be voiced on all of the bigger 2600 related chat-rooms and message boards. I believe you will find several others who agree with what I've said." Do you all really feel this way? If so please post and I will just cancel this project which up to now has been progressing nicely. Dutchman, I don't know if you remember, but I had e-mailed you a couple months back with my idea for the final line of the Swordquest poem (which I now don't remember, something about briinging the Tyrant Down, anyway.) Like this guy I consider my self a fan of the series and was totally jazzed to hear you were making the final version, right up until I read you were making it for 5200 first. PLease hurry with the 2600 version! Ignore this guy, as he is part of a VERY small minority, but do us all a favor. Keep it like the others! Even though the games sucked, changing Airworld would be doing the series a diservice. Just make sure that the comic looks good. I haven't seen you post any pictures from it yet but I am really looking forward to seeing it. Well, that's my opinion guys, take it or leave it.

Ok... Why did that link I posted go German on me? I wasn't anywhere near the German e-Bay when I copied and pasted it. Wow.

(quote)(QB)Ever been to Fiddlers? :-) (/quote)(/QB) Sounds familiar. Where is it aprox. and I'll know. Ever been to Sauer's Bake Shop by the tracks in Wheeling? My wife works there Tues-Sat mornings.

I agree... activision you can't go wrong with!! as far as price goes pitfall 2 would be the only one from activision that would cost you more then 2.00 (unless found it at a thrift store) Take care, Rick I disagree here. There are several Activision titles that go for WAY more than $2 including Pitfall 2. Cosmic Commuter, Beamrider, Rampage, Kung Fu Master and sometimes H.E.R.O. can fetch (woof!) prices of $10-$30 especially if the manual comes with it. Other times you get lucky and find someone selling a bunch of games for cheap that has one or more of these gems in it. You really just have to shop around. At least that's what my momma told me.

DANG! Stupid e-Bay. I forgot it was Friday morning. Now we have to wait two hours to see it. It was Miner 2049'er 2. And I paid almost $60 for it

Woo Hoo! I did it again! I just checked my e-Bay page (cause I just got home a little while ago) and found I had won this: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?V...indexURL=0&rd=1 Sure I paid a bit for it, but in this case I felt it was worth it. can you believe that my bid held out for 4 1/2 hours? And the guy had the manual, too? Man, with my birthday only 2 days away, my list of "presents to myself" is getting bigger all the time. Now there's just one more that I see... Oh yes, it will be mine. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Excuse me, I lost my mind there for a second.

The price tag is a Kaybee price tag with a price of 99 cents written in red marker. Out of curiosity, what do boxed Raquetball and Space Cavern go for? You could probably put these on e-Bay with a starting bid of $9.99 each with s/h at $5.00 each. You would probably get more bids on Raquetball though...

@MattG Don't worry Matt. After this you can have EVERY Tomarc (unless someone sells it with a bunch of other games for cheap )Once it arrives I can officially scratch that one off my list Any other copies that come my way will just end up back on e-Bay. i won't pay that much for another copy now that I have one If I get another one before you do though, I'll give you first dibs

Buyatari probably bid like $1000 but since the person before him only bid like $950. See on e-Bay, they don't should you what the final bidders MAX bid is All of the bids before the final are all MAX bids and the final is just, well the final. Buyatari could have bid $5000 for all we know, but the final bid was only $960. A snipe it was but he probably bid pretty high to insure his winnings.

Tomarc the Barbarian for $40.00!! Woo-Hoo! I'm surprised, usually it goes higher than that on e-Bay. But I did see MattG there! Sorry Matt, keep trying!

quote: Does anyone out there have these? I'm working on a new project concerning SwordQuest and I want to make sure I stick to the existing story. The only site out there that I thought might have them is http://www.tripoint.org/sq/sq.html but that site is gone... I don't know if anyone has looked but this site is up. I just checked 2 minutes ago...

Well, this is pretty cool! i didn't know that the new Stella admin lived that close! I used to live in Wheeling and I still have family and friends down there.

Sorry, but I have to revive another post here. I'm trying to catch up to old conversations. I would LOVE to be able to program for the 2600 and would definately want to be included in this.

Hey Lemmi! Here's another example of "trying to find the top price." In this case I was trying to find out what the reserve price was, so I up the bid until I felt the price was to high. thumperdoo2 (11) $51.00 Feb-13-02 17:24:52 PST thumperdoo2 (11) $51.00 Feb-13-02 17:24:22 PST mnlghtknt (235) $50.00 Feb-13-02 10:18:40 PST mnlghtknt (235) $30.00 Feb-13-02 09:40:09 PST mnlghtknt (235) $25.00 Feb-13-02 09:39:45 PST mnlghtknt (235) $20.00 Feb-13-02 09:38:51 PST mnlghtknt (235) $15.00 Feb-13-02 09:37:48 PST cmcg (53) $10.51 Feb-13-02 16:33:06 PST mnlghtknt (235) $10.00 Feb-13-02 09:37:17 PST ppotos (51) $6.00 Feb-12-02 10:37:49 PST jkurtz1 (197) $5.00 Feb-07-02 05:43:56 PST Even the guy with the top bid didn't bet the reserve (which is, if you don't know, the minimum the person will sell for.) Since the reserve is hidden, you have to bid until you bet it to win. My bids are *mnlghtknt*

Have you ever paid too much just because you really want it?
MoonlightKnight replied to Cassidy Nolen's topic in Atari 2600
Ok guys. I feel I have to revive this post because it seems that their are some people who are just as guilty as the guy who's bidding on Lochjaw of paying high prices for games. But I admit I do it, too. -
Hey Al! Since I got your attention I wanted to ask you a question. You have Spy Hunter listed as Label:Grip Case. I have a copy that is in a standard case like Tapper and Up N' Down. Did you know about this or did I find something new?

Hello everybody! As an E-Bay seller I feel I have to speak up now. One thing you'll find is that most people who bid on Atari stuff actually know what it's worth. And it's the ones who do that know when to stop bidding and find another auction for the same thing. It's a lot of the people who sell things that really don't know what they have. I bought a lot of 25 games that had Montezuma's Revenge in it for about $30.00 I recently sold that one game to someone for $30.00 plus shipping. The game was actually worth that (in my opinion) because of it's rarity. Is it worth more? No. Would some have bid higher? Probably if it had been up longer. The point is that if someone want something bad enough they will bid high for it, but most people have a limit where they say "Hey, too rich for my blood." or "I'll find another one." You've just got to be patient and the games you want will show up for a price you can afford. Thanks, Brian J Nelson
