1. Well she didn't say it wasn't used, she only said " I never took it out of the box and played with it." That could be a completely true statement. Her father could have gotten it at a garage sale and given it to her, and she could have put it in a closet and never played it. Even the auction is listed as a "used" item. Her description might be missing some information, but I see nothing misleading given the pictures and her wording.
2. I think you missed the original point, which was that this auction was not originally posted with a BIN of 20 bucks, the buyer talked the seller into that. Not that I'm saying that was right or wrong, I only noticed it because it wasn't in my tracker list anymore 1002468 And you know that... how? Maybe the seller just decided, "Hey, this item isn't selling as fast as I'd like, I'll put a BIN on it and get rid of it." Or maybe the seller forgot to put a BIN on it in the first place and corrected thier mistake. Automatically accusing the parties of something below board is extreme, and completely baseless.
3. I hope the seller didn't over-sell. They made me a 2nd chance offer for the following auction: 2nd chance auction I figured for a few bucks, it was worth the gamble... Jerry 1001854 Interesting how you are in the bid history for 5.55 and also 3.00 and still got the second chance offer for $3.00 instead of $5.55. 1002183 Ebay rules, I believe, force the seller to offer the second chance buyer the item at the price they bid at. I'm curious though... I thought second chance was only if the high bidder was unable to complete the transaction? I wasn't under the impression that you were allowed to use it to sell multiple copies if none are listed in the auction. EDIT: After double checking, apparently EBay doesn't mind people using Second Chance to sell multiple items, and they do indeed use each bidders highest bid as the price the seller must sell at. It is presented the the non-winners as a BIN with thier top bid + shipping.
4. Wow... I can't believe you posted this with such anger and hatred. Why is the buyer an a$$hole? He found a great deal and took it off the market quick. The seller obviously didn't know the value of what they had and the buyer did. I know there is a desire to of people "In the know" to keep the market low, but when something truely spectacular comes along and someone else really wants said item, aren't they going to pay a little more for it to get it? The buyer got lucky... that doesn't make him an a$$hole. Just curious... did you happen to notice that neither the seller or the buyer are, in fact, new users? The buyer signed up over 2 years ago and the seller more than 6 years. Thanks for the heads up on the game, but I think your knee-jerk reaction to the situation was a little extreme.
5. Very nice page and I agree with it. However... I have found there seems to be a certain portion of the EBay population that doesn't seem to understand exactly what they are buying in the first place. It would seem, that most people who both buy AND sell vintage systems, don't admit, or understand a few things: 1) Unless it's still sealed, it's in a used state. 2) These things are 15 or more years old and thier age and previous care affects thier functioning. 3) People think that the above two facts are "feedback worthy", when they are not. I say that last one, because I can't tell you the number of times I've been contacted about how well something works, despite any description I may have given about it. I clean them, and test them, but that does NOT guarantee thier function, due to thier age. Feedback is a measure of the transaction as a whole, not a measure of the functioning of the item alone. I know, people will say that most sellers are dishonest or unknowledgeable, but as a buyer, you have to weed through those and find those rare gems from the truely knowledgeable and honest sellers. Most buyers don't even READ the whole auction! I've had people ask me things that are answered easily if they would just read. That's the true key. Read everything before you bid. Sure the item looks great and the price seems right... but what does the auction say, and more to the point, what DOESN'T it say. This person's ME page is an important statement. It's right and a correct expectation, but it's is up to each EBay user to use thier best judgement when buying and selling.
6. LOL... I totally missed that it was your auction! DUH!
7. LOL... I love the line at the end... "Let a Grabber make you a PAC MASTER"
8. Don't worry, those auctions will get bid on again. You probably have alot of people watching those auctions, waiting until the end.
9. Heh... I just looked again... he pulled it down this morning. Wonder what made him change his mind.
10. Yeah, I have one of those situations going on right now. Some guy says he accepts Payapl, but is probably unverified after all this time. I had to send him an email to tell him to accept the payment. Try sending him another email... if he doesn't answer in a week, ask Paypal for your money back.
11. Damn... he did that? I don't understand why anyone would use a bubble mailer to ship a BOX. Hell, you could drop it in a Priority Mail box down at the Post Office... at worse you might need a little newpaper in there to keep it from shifting. I don't know... tough call here... I couldn't say whether you should neg this jerk or not. One thing is for sure... don't ever bid on his stuff again.
12. Is it just me... or does it look like there are two copies of Warlords on the left, stacked together? I counted 38 carts there... and he has 38 unique titles listed... did I miss something here?
13. No offense Zoop, but you stepped in this mess on your own. The auction is pretty clear about the shipping fees. What you probably should have done is read the entire auction and checked his feedback first. The guy has been in business since March 05 and he has 99 negs! I don't care how many positives he has... 99 negs in 9 months says something about him. Plus if you look through his feedbacks, he negs people that give him NEUTRALS. That's messed up. Thanks for the warning, but be careful next time and read everything before bidding.
14. He also does EBay auctions for those... the power supply usually ends up being cheaper than trying to outbid people on a complete 7800 that you may not know is in working condition. My suggestion is to buy one from his EBay store if you need one that badly... I've been thinking of doing the same for mine.
15. Contact him and tell him his mistake. He may not have known and might be willing to make ammends. Yeah his feedback is low, but give him a chance to fix it before you neg him.
16. I'd have to say that Swordquest:Waterworld rates right up there with Quadrun. There are more of them out there than alot of other rare games, yet they fetch $100 or more when they show up on EBay, which is rather often (although not more than a couple at a time). I ended up paying about $500 for two partial CIB Waterworlds, made up one CIB and sold off the excess for around $250. A couple days later there were 3 more up for auction, although those were just loose. CIB Waterworld = rare. Loose? Not quite as rare.
17. Very cool... I actually have a couple of the Sears units, but I didn't know they made similar Atari units because I had never seen a picture before that. I've got everything but the controllers for one unit, but the second is the unit only. Heck I don't even remember where I got them...
18. Good luck with that... I've been looking for one for ages. I did see a website showing you how to make one somewhere... ahh here we go: http://www.chez.com/slydc/kvcable.htm
19. I think it's the other way round. That randomisation is totally bogus for a highscore contest. I usually lose lives in levels 13-14 and higher, so basically my score so far is just a series of good luck. (2-3 hard levels in a row and I'm busted.) Greetings, Manuel 992768 That's just it, I played difficulty level 5 and every time I hit reset, I ended up with the same starting level. It was hard, no matter how many times I played. There was nothing random about it. It was just a hard level all around.
20. CC 1 and multiple SC owner here. I haven't used either in a while, but my living space got a bit smaller recently, which is why. I don't have much room to display my Atari stuff right now.
21. ...and a bedpan! 992313 Why not just play in the bathroom? 992469 My bathroom is too small for a TV
22. Please, try at least variant #1, H.E.R.O. normally has a really friendly difficulty ramp. Hm... some tips: - The lamp is always on the right side. - While you need to go away quite a bit from the dynamite horizontally, a few pixels do vertically - In 95% of cases, the more difficult looking path is the right one Greetings, Manuel 991759 I've played all the variants myself, but like many others here, I completely suck at level 5... I can't even finish the first level, even though I know the map pretty well after playing it a few dozen times. I'm afraid this is my best score for this game at that difficulty: HERO score
