  1. This is how I pulled off a 53... I had to get the computer to box itself in, basically LEAVE me the corners, and burn a couple 1 and two piece moves. I was able to take the last 4 empty boxes without the computer getting a turn. I shifted an almost tied game into a near whiteout that way. I don't expect a repeat any time soon...
  2. Hey good job! Piece O Cake seems to be elusive for me, as does Picnic for some reason. Oddly enough though, Raft Raider wasn't that ard for me to obtain... maybe I just caught a lucky break on that one?
  3. Man... I don't know how you guys are doing shutouts on expert! I'm jealous... Honestly, I'd say that deserves a special score though... beating the computer completely is even better than owning most of the board. I think Christopher Sly had the lowest score at 13, right?
  4. Here's what will probably be my best effort... I don't think I could top this. Expert level is rather difficult, even if you have a good idea what the computer will do next. My Othello score
  5. Personally, I prefer the EPYX joystick. Fits in your hand with the button on the bottom. Lets you use your thumb to stabilze the joystick and a finger to fire. Works great for me!
  6. Hey thanks! Using BIN was some great advice. I put 70 auctions up last night and have already sold 3, with about 6 more being watched. I already had a batch of 70 others go up on Sunday as 7 day auctions, and only 3 of those are being watched with no bids, so this was really a great idea. This should really improve my take before Christmas, considering yesterday's uploads will be my last until after Christmas.
  7. Hey Ze_ro... mind if I get in on this? I always did like this game... I'd like to give it a go
  8. Just an FYI, it may be something as simple as the insides being dirty. In he past, I've opened up paddles, cleaned them, and put a little WD-40 on them. after putting them back together, they ended up working like they were brand new... no jitters at all. Opening them would give you a chance to check the solders as well.
  9. Oddly enough, I just recently bought a Falshback 2 and found out you can use THOSE controllers on a 2600. My 7800 is packed away but it stands to reason if they work on one they'd work on the other... Too bad about the Original Flashback controllers though. I always did think the 7800 sticks felt much better that the original 2600 sticks.
  10. I get batches of games quite frequently and every once in a while I'll get a dead one... no rhyme or reason as to which ones or why either... last one that came in was a copy of Gopher... won't fire up no matter what I try... I'm usually try alcohol myself, but I've never heard of using WD-40 before. Interesting idea though.
  11. I've always loved Dragonfire... zipping in and out of that box, trying to grab the treasures while dodging the dragon... that white dragon is a speed demon! Got this game for my birthday as a kid and it's been at the top of my list ever since.
  12. Exposed screw and a label from a label machine? Definately a transplanted game. I've never tried doing this between different companies cases before, but I don't see why you COULDN'T... most of the circuit boards are roughly the same size and shape.
  13. I got Dragonfire for my birthday about 20 years ago... one of my favorite games and I still own that original cart!
  14. Nice label there... and I'm jealous you got it so cheap! I think I paid $15 for mine on EBay about 4 years ago, and the label has seen better days...
  15. I have one of these. Basically the reader looks like the circuit board of a game cartridge with a place to put a chip on it. The chips slide into place and (on mine) get locked into place with a little arm. As for the chips he's offering... chances are the chips are common games. The set I picked up I got for real cheap, and none of the games were anything rare... Basically the same games you could find on E-Bay as an actual cartridge. Simply put, anyone with a little knowledge could probably create a reader and tear open a few games and remove the chips. Unless he's willing to prove he's got something rare in there, I wouldn't offer him much for the whole set. Pull out a 2600 and test all the chips... then start dealing if you're still interested.
  16. Hello everyone. Been a long time since I've been here, but I figured I'd come ask a question. I have a copy of Q*Bert with no label (typical of Parker Bros. labels to fall off, as many of you are aware), and I'd like to print one off my printer. I checked the scan here and it's not exactly a complete label. Can anyone point me to a complete label scan? If possible... I wouldn't mind seeing a few other Parker Bros labels as well. Thanks!
  17. Having done something similar a few months ago with Waterworld, I can understand this insanity. You had to have it, you had the money ( I hope), and you wouldn't be denied you prize. Had I the money I would definately try and score one of these prized carts.
  18. I know the feeling here. It's very hard to find anything in a thrift shop by me. It seems like everytime I happen to find even a joystick I've got no money on me and when I get some and bring it back the stuff is already gone anyway!
  19. Now see, that's really weird. I got my Kid Vid and some games in a lot and only paid about $50 for all of it. Since I sold most of the other stuff, you could say I got the Kid Vid pretty much for free. Of course I don't have the cable or any tapes, but atleast I have the unit once I get those.
  20. if that's true Rick, then I should consider myself pretty lucky. The one unit I have ever seen (and own) worked on the first try. I thought these things were pretty rare, but I didn't know about their durability. Guess I'll have to handle mine with extreme care.
  21. quote: Originally posted by Eduardo: You probably had one of these: It's a modified cartridge with eprom chips, probably made by pirates, I'd say it's very rare to find in the wild these days. You can find a short description here at Atariage in 2600/Archives/Prototypes section. Hey, I've got something similar, but not exactly the same. Mine is just a PCB with an EPROM switcher soldered to it. I got in in an eBay auction with a bunch of other stuff. I think I got it from a guy who sold me about 30 games for about $30 and he just tossed this in (with a bunch of game chips)because he was trying to get rid of it. Pretty cool of him to send it to me.

I have been trying to find a decent priced copy of Lunar 2 for a while now. I just picked up a second copy of Lunar 1 for $30. For anyone who is interested, I did this because there are 7 different pictures on the printed on the discs. I am trying to collect them all. Totally off topic but, had to say it.
  23. I'm going to have to go with Dragonfire here. I got this game one year for my birthday (I still have the same copy!) and it has been my favorite ever since. I just love running out of that little box and darting back and forth trying to pick up all those treasures while avoiding the dreaded dragonfire! The white dragon is a fiend and super-fast!
