  1. Time for my two cents, @MOB You are right when you say ebay auctions aren't like real auctions. It's because of the time limit. Think about it, at a real auction the auctioneer takes bids and then when people stop bidding the item is then "sold." An eBay auction is over in 3, 5, 7 or 10 days from the second it was posted. That is what makes it different. What makes them the same is the fact that (assuming the auction wasn't a fraud to begin with) now an exchange of funds and items must occur. Unfortunately for some (both buyers and sellers are affected,) one of these people might get burned. That is where feedback comes in. When used (both wisely and properly) it becomes an effective tool for gauging a users trust level (i.e. the amount of trust they are given.) As a person who has completed over 500 transactions on eBay, I consider myself to be pretty trustworthy and hope that those that I deal with see me that way, too. @xyzzy I agree that sniping is a myth. If you don't bid your maximum, you stand the chance of getting outbid every time. I have sniped things away from people simply because I was willing to pay $1 more than they were. In some cases I have even placed bids 10-15 minutes before the auction ended for $1 more and NO ONE challenged me for it at all. Before I got my first copy of Waterworld (and before I had a ton of cash burning a hole in my pocket, thank you I.R.S.) my standing maximum was $75. If I got outbid I didn't come back (and I got outbid every time), but I didn't worry about it because someone else was willing to pay more @everyone else The phenomenon you speak of could be referred to as "bidder's frenzy;" get swept up in the actual "trying to outbid this guy" to even realize the crazy amounts you are bidding. I experienced this myself when I got my first Waterworld and $365 later was kicking myself for letting it get out of hand like that. I was happy I won but I never intended to spend THAT much on any one game. Thankfully I had the money or I would have really been up a creek! And thankfully I was able to pick up a second copy for a more reasonable price (and in better condition) and resell my first one to get some of my money back.
  2. I always did like Reactor. one of my favorite tricks was to drop a decoy near a wall and then hide in one of the side chambers. They would blow themselves up trying to get the decoy because it was so close to the wall. When the decoy disappered then they all come after you and blow themselves up trying to get in the chamber to get you! I also loved it when the Reactor would open up. You could use it to sling-shot yourself around and get the particles to chase you. I used to be able to play this game for hours. Oh yeah, and to getback on topic Spiderman was pretty good, but I was never big on Popeye. Too much repetition. At least with Spiderman it changed a little each board.

Remember it works the same way we count, start with 1 ('61) and end with 10 ('70). A little calender lesson for all those people who think the millenium ended when the date changed to 2000. 2001 started the new millenium not 2000. Again sorry, but I just HAD to do that.

And, just like you, I had a 4 switch, but I got a Commodore instead of a VIC.
  5. Well his name is "mad dwarf." Maybe that is a true reflection of the seller!
  6. quote: Originally posted by Atari-Jess: I HATE ALL AUCTIONS why cant people just SELL their items?? Yes but why sell for $5 what someone might be willing to pay $20 for? That's the whole point of eBay or of any auction in general, getting maximun dollar for your item. I mean let's face it, I have lots of things in my house that I know are worth money but how do I know how much someone is willing to pay for them? An auction lets them set the price they are willing to pay, and if that just happens to be more than the item is really worth when the auction ends, then so be it. I just hate it when people START their auctions at outrageous prices. That's just ridiculous. $5 for a copy of Combat? No joke, I saw this once. Stupid.
  7. Yes, Lemmi, that is funny, but Stan is right. I've seen enough people with outrageous price, or completely misrepresenting their items, or even being completely unknowledgeable about their items. It sometimes make me so angry to see some of these people's auction's that I could just scream. They ruin the experience for alot of buyers, and the reputation of alot of sellers. Of course I have to say that their aresome buyers that aren't any better. Jacking up the price real high and outbidding everyone else and then not paying for it! That just sucks, too. Anyway, enough ranting. I'm not getting out of the pool just yet, but someone really needs to clean up the poop!
  8. If we are talking about text games for the 2600, I would love to see the Planetfall-Stationfall series. I was never really big on Zork but Planetfall was pretty good, IMO. It would be interesting to see if someone could shrink these games into a 2600 cart.
  9. as an eBay seller that HATES Checkout, let me tell you. With all the "end of auction," the "payment requests" I send to the buyers, and their responses to my payment request, I don't need eBay's help cluttering up my inbox more than it already is. I always send emails to every buyer and I think that is enough for them. Also, since I don't use eBay payments( I only take money orders or Paypal), I think Checkout is unnecessary.
  10. @Cafeman You'll be interested to know that, as I write this, your Koffi:Yellow Kopter demo is listed as one of the "Newest files" on FilePlanet.com. How's that's for visibility?
  11. So which games aren't compatible with the 2 port? I have both and was trying to decide if I wanted get rid of one or to keep both. That is if I can get my hands on some working joysticks. Out of five I only have one good one.
  12. What do you have for trade or how much are you willing to pay? I may be able to help.
  13. I just use a little WD-40 on my paddles and they all work fine. You just squirt it in the center of the paddle (after you open it up of course, not on the outside, duh.)

I just read this post for the first time and I have to say that that joke was just pure evil. My jaw dropped when I read the part about the 10 Waterworlds. Then I got to the last post and sure enough, it was a joke. 3 days later and you still got someone, Stan, or should I say Satan? Just funning ya, Stan!
  15. quote: Originally posted by CaliColts: eBay supports my collecting habit, so I cant complain. I can agree with this. If not for eBay iwould have never been able to buy someof the things I have. Selling has cut some of the costs I have incurred increasing my collection.
  16. Well I just picked up my first one off eBay. It showed up at my house a couple of days ago and I just tested it today. Pretty cool, and I only paid about $12 for it. I haven't seen any others on eBay though so I was surprised more people didn't bid on it.

Something about a space ship traveling through a cityscape or landscape. I am very confused. Did she tell you what song(s) were in the game? If you can find this out you can figure out if she means Journey or not.
  18. @Chad Schell Thank you for making these available to a small portion of the world. I won one of these from you on eBay a few months back and I LOVE it! I got a chance to play a couple of game that I had always wanted to (including Waterworld which I didn't have at the time.) I love being able to leave my games on the shelf and just using the Cuttle Cart!
  19. quote: Originally posted by moycon: WOW!!! $550 for an Atari 2600 setup!!! Well I guess it does come with a TV hu?? Actually, no. That would be $550 for the unit with one game. You would have to buy the TV separate. The cheapest B/W is like $200! Not that you really need the TV with that item. Since it's most likely an item converted from another item in the game, It probably just sits there and does nothing.
  20. The ad I'd like to get ahold of is the Activision Ice Hockey Tv ad that Phil Hartman was in. That one was pretty good.
  21. I'm having trouble signing into Paypal Anyone else having this problem or is it just my broke a** computer?
  22. I just won this one recently with the original Atari Club letter. No instructions though, but that letter was pretty cool!
  23. SPENDERIFIC! @Stan: There seems to be alot of games you don't have. What gives? I would figure you had a ton of these things. Or at least a copy of games like this one.
