Not that I know of. The highest prices of the disk-based games gets probably M.U.L.E., a fantastic game and much sought after. But there was also an Ultima II auctioned recently which fetched $204. So I am wondering how high a complete Ultima I would go ... In general I would say that titles from Electronic Arts, Infocom, Origin go higher than other companies. At least those 3 come into my mind first.

7 Cities is still one of my top 3 games for the XL ... I loved it back in 86 as much as I do today, it plays even great on the emu. I think I should fire up a800win, generate a new world a have some hours of great fun ...

Somehow I thought that there was no PAL version of the Supercharger ... only a prototype found in Belgium or so ...

I got a PAL Mangia about a year ago on ebay.de, cart + box, but unfortunately no manual ... well I cannot complain for Buy It Now 19 German Marks (~ $9) ...

Reached Level 16 for the first time yesterday, with a score just a bit over 100,000. H.E.R.O. is clearly one of the Top 5 games on the 2600 for me, maybe even #1.

Mister VCS: Könnte natürlich sein, daß gar kein Zusammenhang besteht. Allerdings habe ich Ähnlichkeiten nicht nur beim Zeichensatz, sondern auch bei der Gestaltung, beim Aufbau der Seiten, Design der Überschriften und Zwischen-Überschriften, usw. gefunden. Kann aber auch Zufall sein. Vielleicht hat auch nur das eine Magazin vom anderen "abgeschaut", oder beide hatten einfach denselben Designer (beide Magazine wurden ja in Hamburg publiziert) ... Ja, das mit Activision stimmt. Ich kannte die Anzeigen und die TeleMatch-Logos auf den deutschsprachigen Activision-Kartons (die wurden übrigens auch hier in Österreich so verkauft), habe aber nie näher darüber nachgedacht, wieso gerade die Activision-Games von der TeleMatch empfohlen wurden ... Da wird wohl eine Hand die andere gewaschen haben ...

Ja, ich hab alle TeleMatch-Ausgaben hier - die meisten noch von "damals", ich hatte ein Abo ... Wundert mich übrigens auch nicht, daß alle das Vanguard-Artwork verwendet haben - ich finde das Bild schlicht genial. Ein großes Poster davon wäre fantastisch ...

A few years ago I bought a bunch of the same games that Thimo mentioned from Telegames UK. They are exactly the same (Euro boxes but NTSC stickers etc.). I was always wondering what's that about but I think Lumpbucket's guess might be right. The 2600 lived much longer in Europe than it did in the US, so they probably had tons of carts in their US warehouses and shipped them to Europe where they still could be sold. Just a guess, but it would be logical ...

Reminds me of those 1984 x-mas holiday, when I borrowed my cousin's 2600, doing nothing else than playing Space Shuttle ... and it was honored with a "Pilot" patch by Activision Pity I never managed that 6th docking within those few days which would have provided me a "Commander" Patch ...

I like the Atari 830 pic that represents the forum. Reminds me ... I am still waiting hard for the XL/XE section on AA ... any plans in that direction within the next future?

Before others may reply a bit harsh here, let me repeat (again): We are NOT discussing about any "legal differences" at all. IMO there aren't and for me they aren't important at all here. So this is all about "moral differences". Got it? And thanks for agreeing that there may be a moral difference. Agreed.

I don't want to defend Randy nor do take party for Thomas, but from a neutral point of view - presuming that Randy would offer a "non-profit service": What would be the difference between Randy "providing a non-profit service" with those hacks and Thomas "providing a non-profit service" with those hacks? As far as I am informed none of the both own the legal rights of the original code. Thomas may pass those hacks to the community, but Randy may not? Many classic gaming fans (especially in the US) are happy that Thomas did those TV format hacks for them. Randy did not do similar work for them. Couldn't it be that many gamers take party for Thomas for that reason and therefore apply two different standards? What's the difference? Does Thomas' hack work make it legal for him to distribute the game? There may be a moral difference between Randy and Thomas distributing the games, but is there a legal difference?

Das passt jetzt nicht zu meiner Frage im vorigen Post, aber ich hab was recht Witziges in einem der Atari Club Magazine gefunden: ---------- KEINE GARANTIE BEI FREMD-CASSETTEN Mehrere Clubmitglieder beklagten sich über Funktionsstörungen ihres ATARI VCS-Systems, nachdem sie Cassetten fremder Anbieter gespielt hatten. Deshalb weisen wir hier ausdrücklich darauf hin, daß die Garantie für das ATARI System nur gilt, solange ATARI-Cassetten darauf gespielt werden. Grund: Wir können nicht überprüfen oder garantieren, daß Fremdcassetten den strengen Qualitätsrichtlinien bei ATARI entsprechend gefertigt sind und keine Geräteteile beschädigen. ----------

Ich hab gestern in einem Tausch meine ersten deutschen Atari Club Magazine bekommen, 3 Stück von 1983. Das erste, das mir aufgefallen ist: Die Dinger sehen doch 1:1 so aus wie die TeleMatch Magazine! Der selbe Font, die selbe Schriftgröße, der selbe Seitenaufbau, die selben grafischen Elemente, teilweise die selben Farben usw. Die Atari Club Magazine sehen aus wie spezielle Atari-Sonderausgaben der TeleMatch Atari und die TeleMatch waren beide in Hamburg beheimatet, das ist das einzige Indiz, das ich gefunden habe. In der TeleMatch ist ein ausführliches Impressum, in dem beispielsweise auch der Designer angeführt ist, im Atari Club Magazin aber leider nicht ... Weiß jemand etwas über die Hintergründe dieser extremen Ähnlichkeiten? War es nur der selbe Designer oder besteht ein näherer Zusammenhang zwischen dem Atari Club und der TeleMatch???

What about PAL Mangia? I know that Spectravision PAL games are not so hard to come by then their NTSC counterparts. But how would you rate PAL Mangia?
