  1. I mentioned in the description it was was the widescreen version, but they keep on complaining I sent the full screen version, because thats what it says on the cover (despite the disc saying Widescreen).

This is where you will lose. The item sent MUST be identical to the listing page. Having a Fullscreen case/Widescreen disc will not cut it. Your only recourse is to offer a refund upon return of the DVD. You may have to offer a shipping label in order for the buyer to ship it back to you. If it is not worth dealing with shipping back or buyer is uncooperative, I would refund and learn from this experience. Putting any differences to the page listing in the Comments will not cover you. This is covered on Item 16 in the first link below.

If he AtoZ you, you will lose automatically. I would advise you to take care of this before the buyer does this. If Amazon reviews this case, they may suspend your account like they did to Rick.

    Amazon selling rules

Next time, if your item is not identical to Amazon's listing, sell it on ebay or half. Amazon takes a hard line on this rule.

  2. I had another "give my money back" but no neg today. It's on a PS2 game that they are trying to use on their PS3. The game is listed as incompatible even on backward compatible systems. I've offered to refund less shipping on their return, or cover shipping both ways for an exchange on another comparable valued title (via prepaid return mailer). Should be interesting. I don't like messing up my customer metrics with refunds. I'd rather loose postage.

If you have been communicating via Amazon mail system, you probably have him admitting that he has a PS3 and this is a incompatible PS2 game. Then it would not be your fault. He is obligated to return the item in order to get a refund. If he AtoZs you, make sure you point out the buyer's mistake and that you offered a refund upon return of the item.

And in no case should you go to the customer.

As a amazon seller, I can feel your pain. I sold a person a copy of Artificial intelligence. The cover said "Full Screen" but the disc is wide-screen. The person has been for lack of a better word "Bitching" at me to refund them. I have mentioned several times for them to send it back and they'll get a refund, and they wont talk about sending it back.

This could be a problem. If the customer's claims are true, when the buyer AtoZs you, Amazon will side with the buyer because the item is materially different than the listing shown on the page you listed it on. They will not require your customer to return the item. If you are certain of the version you sold and the disc version inside, I would stand by that claim otherwise you automatically lose. I would then claim that customer would get a refund upon return of the item.

Amazon is not ebay. You have to send EXACTLY what is shown on the page(down to the UPC code). You do no get to put in the comments that it is a slightly different version. If you do, the scam buyer knows he just got a free item. I had a person try to claim my item was "Materially Different". He lost because I am the only manufacturer of my item and I define what the item is. With DVDs you most likely are not the manufacturer.

  3. After doing some comparisons between Ooma, MJ, Netalk, Skype and Google Voice. I will probably start using Skype. I can get Skype on my Iphone and my wife can use it on a computer in whatever country she goes to. There are also Skype phones that we could connect to our network. It seems like the most flexible solution and costs are fairly low too. My wife likes the "Online" number feature. We can get phone numbers in the countries she is doing business in.

  4. Sounds like a string of bad luck. I have received items via 1st class post from the States in 2 days in one instance and almost always in less than 2 weeks.

Our rules for sending 1st class is different though. Even one cartridge in a thin envelope is too big for 1st class if you go by the rules, but only by a millimetre or so, I have cheated and sent things anyway and have been lucky.

For small items Cda Post is way more expensive. Larger items sent Priority Post seems about the same rate as our Expedited Mail.

On Amazon, if a buyer expects it in 2 weeks, they tend to bitch if they dont get it within the estimated time. FCM to Canada is not tracked so I can not get a feel for how fast something gets to the destination. I was lucky the 1st time and had tracking on Canada Post's web site and could determine Canadian Customs was sitting on my package for 3 weeks.

I ship hundreds of packages to Canada, but thousands to the US. If the person that bitches costs me sales in the US it is not worth it for me to offer the service. I just restrict all FCM International to Canadian sales on Amazon. I still offer it on my website, but they cant leave me 1 star feedbacks that damages my sales. This change has worked so far. Since the change, I have had 3 sales for multiple items on my website and none on Amazon from Canada. Looks like my change has had the effect that I was looking for. Also, my packages all follow the rules outlined by USPS for First Class International.

  5. I have a "universal" adapter with six or seven interchangeable heads. I use it for my Lynx. I found the extra heads tonight and plugged it in, even though it only goes to 12V and is only 500mA or whatever that measurement is. It powered the system on and got rid of the static on the TV, but the game didn't come on.

That universal adaptor was probably 12VDC. I do not think it will work. It may not have blown anything up, but do not do the opposite(AC adaptor in a DC device). Things can blow up.

  6. For shipment from US to Canada, I can not recommend using First Class International any longer. After getting my second neg from a buyer on AZ, I will no longer use 1st Class Int to Canada. The reason is Canadian customs hold the shipment upwards of 3 weeks. My first time was to the Toronto area. They scanned everything and I could put in the Canada Post website and could see the tracking stuck at customs. This time there is no tracking information at all. I shipped 10/6 and still can not find where the package is. It is probably going to cost more much to ship to Canada than Europe for our customers now. I have set it to only have Express mail available. Priority is less than $5 cheaper, so the savings is not worth the hassle for me to offer to Canadian customers.

  7. B & C seem to think that th e#6 is not a good choice for memory upgrades? I'm thinking of adding the 600XL 64k upgrade. Thoughts?

I believe that version is 1.0A. 600xl and 800xl came with 1.5A power supplies. Since that PS came with XEGS, it is probably barely enough for the 600xl. I have seen funny things when too current gets drawn from PS that was not rated for the device. If things do not behave normally, I would replace the PS with a higher rated one.

  8. Thanks to Freecycle, I got my self a Vtech Laser 128EX. With the Following: Magnavox RGB monitor, Manual, Laser Branded Mouse, external Laser Floppy drive, loads of software including GEOS, and a Epson printerr. All for free!

    Nice scores!

Laser 128EX and the Magnovox RGB for free is awesome. I wish the FreeCycle in Houston would have something like that.

Here is what I picked up at the Family Thrift today.

    post-7833-12885076287_thumb.jpg

GBA with rechargeable battery for $6.

I also got a palm with symbol reader for $4.

I need a docking port for it now. It does not look like a palm standard one.

  9. Found a nice old 400 with 16 K and what looks like this 400 composite mod. Original 16K and the multi-colour Inhome keyboard upgrade! Filthy dirty of course, but a little time in the spa cleaned it up nicely. I was really excited that it might be a CTIA machine, but although it might have been initially, it was upgraded to GTIA. Another interesting feature is the date stamp on the bottom of the case (April 1981) I've only seen this stamp on 800's previously.

Funny that the put out the money for composite and keyboard, but not a 48k upgrade.

  10. Hi ax

If he is fishing for a refund without return, I would state to amazon seller support. I had 2 out of thousands of sales that knew were scammers. They both wanted refunds without return. Try working with the customer and offer to refund upon return of your product. Try not to act if you need them to remove the neg. My wife got burned by a customer that thought she had to tell the world that we were bad sellers. I told my wife that it would not work but she had to learn for herself.

My best advice for the future would be to expand your product line to include non-electronic stuff to increase sales numbers thereby lowering the effects of a neg. In the past, I could take 3 negs or AtoZs before I went over the limit. BTW, what is your store name?

I am lucky my item has a low fraud rate. I know electronics and video games have probably the highest. Also my item is not one of those that gets you banned.

Very understandable, but the latest beta driver (at the link above) is so stable (on stable hardware) that I burned it to my IntSDX and now use it with my "main" C: partition. I see no drastic changes to the core code being made before the final release.

I know. I do have a 8MB CF card laying around. I just have to get my SDX cart from MG66. That probably limits the downloads for this even more.

  12. If I wanted to set up a system to have a play with these new drivers which version of the MyIDE interface should I grab and what else is needed?

I have 2 of the MyIDE carts from atarimax and an internal one from MG66(I do not think he is making anymore). I like the carts because I can restore a system back to non MyIDE OS fairly quickly, although with the driver I may not use the MyIDE OS anymore. I like the internal MyIDE. My only gripe is I do not understand why there is not a MyIDE straight to CF. I would have thought there would have been enough demand that someone would have made it by now. Until then, I will use my converter.

On the subject of the low number of downloads. It takes people a fair amount of time to setup a file system and may not want to format their system while the driver is in beta. I would gladly use the driver but I do no have a spare CF card to test at this time.

  13. I picked up an Apple Mac 165C for $10.

    post-7833-128789737381_thumb.jpgpost-7833-128789739299_thumb.jpg

I was hoping to use the Classic Mac OS or maybe use the case for an future project. The system was $40 and I thought it was a bit much. I waited the 2 weeks it took for 2 markdowns, but it somehow moved from behind the counter to on the floor. The regular customers had probably a few days to the damage.

  14. My oddball thrift find is some CDi games, they were in with music CDs so I go them for $2.00 each.

Joker's Wild, Space Ace, and Escape from Cybercity. They also had a golf game but I only had $6 on me.

Now to find a CDi unit...

You know, I have a CDi I'm willing to part with (for a fair price.) Have several games and a gamepad for it. It also has the DVC installed so you can watch VCDs and play games that required the Digital Video Card for enhanced graphics.

My thrift had a Magnavox cdi and probably some game but I did not pick them up because they were trashed. If I am not the first person to get at it, the other people tear them up. I have a pic of a laptop with all the key knocked off.
