  1. I would be interested, but do you know the price point you are shooting for?
  2. This section in the FAQ explains it I think it depends on the 7800 version you buy. In any case Snoopy should work.
  3. Does it work with the HSC?
  4. Its just resting there. I put it there so I can see the lights. I used a dead Star Raiders cart. Don't we all have at least 3 copies of that game? If you look closely the cart in in backwards. The reason is I did not want the side with all the solder to short on the aluminum back of the cart. Also, I was going to buy a $5 case to put it in, but once I realize that was such a waste. And I had plenty of carts that could be a donor for the SIO2PC interface, it was a no brainer. I sometime just pull it out an put it under the Commodore monitor. Here is some history on my Ataris. The 600xl is my 1st system back in the Summer of 1984. It was alway my trusty computer. I love its small footprint. I will eventually make a video upgrade for it. I put 64k in it last month. The 800xl is my 2nd system. We upgraded it to 256k in 1985. I cant believe my brother and I upgraded it ourselves. We were about 10 and 11 at the time and lucky that the 800xl was an older model with Basic Rev B and almost all chips socketed. The blue sticker is from the Texas History Museum in Washington on the Brazos. The XF551 was bought with a 800xl, XM301 and XMM801 for all $200 new from Federated in 1988. I still have the receipt somewhere. The 2nd 800xl was our 4th Atari. We got a 130xe somewhere between 1988-1990 and probably was our 3rd Atari. The ATR8000 64k was used for about a year in 1988-89 for a BBS we put together. It was cheap at $100 with 3 Quad density 5 1/4 drives(720k/disk). We had nearly 2 Megs on floppy for such a cheap setup for the time. It was a bit slow since it was on floppies, but using the 256k 800xl's ramdisk did alleviate the bottleneck some. BXE is in the plastic box on the self above. I may put the carts out and take pics. Scanning may be better though. I will see. All of the above was part of our collection before 1990. After that point. We used school computers and I bought a Dell in 1993 and a 7800 in 1996 when eBay started. I am actually thinking of pulling the drives from Dell and seeing if it would work with the ATR8000. The rest I picked up starting 2005. The 800 will probably be upgraded soon pending getting the parts and working with warerat. I love its chroma and luma output to the Commodore. I will do the ram and OS upgrade to it or the other 800 I have in storage. Not pictured. 400, 4 XEGS, 7800, 5200(needs RF adaptor), Lynx, 3 1040STf, Mega ST4 and assorted drives.
  5. I remember playing this at my uncle's house. He always had the latest games at the time. He probably still has it. The PS he had was a 4 prong universal 9V adaptor with a 9V battery connector. I don't think it was an original Atari PS.
  6. I picked up a Dreamcast keyboard for $1.81. Nothing great, but I wanted one.
  7. Here is what I am currently using. Its a 800xl with Newell upgrade connected to 2 XF551 and 2 1050s then to the SIO2PC sitting in the cartridge case on the 800xl. The slave PC is to the right above the 800. I have a trak AT-D2 connected to it. Also the 64k 600xl is on the shelf under the trackball. Its too much trouble to take pictures of things I don't have out and ready to use.
  8. Sometimes the BINs are cheaper than what the item normally goes for. I jump on those especially if they are what I am looking for.
  9. I picked this up. and this At first I thought they were just for the case, but when I realize it was the whole disk drive and case. I went ahead and bought them with BIN.
  10. I was late too, but got lucky with classics(steve) selling one last month. I just happen to see the post right after he posted it. My 4port is still missing the RF adaptor and I have not modified it yet so maybe this weekend I will get to play MULE on the 5200. I can still play it on the 8bit though.
  11. I agree. Last month I had 1 bad XEGS. Now I have 3 working XEGS and the bad one gave its GTIA to make one of the other XEGS work and its RAM chips to a 600xl to make it 64k. I am biding my time until I see a deal on a 1200xl. When I started I buying stuff from eBay, deals for what I just purchased and was just shipped came up. I am not in a hurry to get one since I already have too many projects to work on.
  12. The problem is in the shipping. It will be fairly expensive and the systems are probably PAL. I noticed the 1st one too.
  13. 1016348[/snapback] birdie, I was thinking NS was going to ship the damaged XEGS to me and it would have been expensive coming from Canada. Since he is not I should have just deleted the who section. You could have done lots of damage. I will have to wait until I get home to follow the traces and see what to check for first.
  14. I am assuming you are from Canada. I know that, from Canada, my last shipped item cost nearly $50. It was a heavy item, but I have not bought many items from Canada because of the prohibitive shipping. So you may be better off buying one of eBay. I have noticed some listings that went for lower prices in Canada. Sorry it was birdie3 that I was thinking about. Anyway, bones had given me his broken XEGS since he already received a replacement. Also, I was buying a couple of monitor switches from him and he just threw the XEGS in the same box. That was what I meant by my shipping comment. The worse that could have happened was I would have a lot of spare chips. Now, I currently have 3 working XEGS(I got 2 while buying other things while waiting for bones to get his XEGS) and a broken one. Currently, the broken one has a bad PIA and GTIA chip also some of the soldering may need to be looked at. I any case all the chips were socketed and the 64k chips are now residing in my 600xl. So, my dead XEGS has revived another XEGS and made my 600xl a 64k. Also I have an extra Freddie, 6502, Antic, and Pokey to troubleshoot other projects. It don't mind looking at it for you. I might be busy by the time it gets to me. Too bad I have some time this weekend. Back to the problem: What does the damage look like? I will take a picture of it tonight to see if we are talking about the same thing. In the mean time Here are the pinouts.
  15. Well, the 2800(Sears Video Arcade II) controllers had the built it paddles. So I didnt think it would have been a stretch to make a 7800 version. It seemed to me to be possible to have directional aiming like the arcade. I didnt buy a 7800 until the mid 90s because there were no games that worth the investment from my 8bit system.
  16. If they made Contra for the 7800 back in the 80's, I would have bought one back then. I almost did for Ikari warriors, but no directional aiming like the arcade turned me off.
  17. I was lucky. Having some of my game carts work hinted at a bad GTIA chip. Yours is harder to diagnose. Having plugged in a Commodore PS into the XEGS, I would start with a pinout of the PS and see what they got connected to in the Atari. Compare what was the power output into and what the Atari was expecting. I would look at what the AC lines were connected to. Then find where those line directly connect to. Those chips are most likely fried. Also plug it in and try any and everything to get it to work or just to make sure what is not working. Good Luck NS. If you cant get it working, you could ship it to me like bones did.
  18. Success!!! The problem was the GTIA chip. I have not fully tested the XEGS though. Basic starts now with the keyboard plugged in. Missile command works too. I will be putting it through the paces in the next few days. I have not tested the SIO yet. Thanks again bones. Also the system also had to deal with static through the keyboard port when I was unpacking. bones did too good a job on that, but it seems to still keep on ticking. Its a wonder our Ataris can survive bad PS and static and keep on ticking.
  19. I know first hand that is true. I have the System Changer so I could use the 2600 carts and joystick in it, but not on the Intv controller ports.
  20. waiting so impatiently . . . . . ....
  21. I saw them, but I did not know what they were worth. Are the pair worth $40? I noticed the BS stories trying to end the auction early too. What do the Hex keys look like?
  22. Mine was doing the exact same thing. I switched out the PIA and it works better, but still not 100%. I think I did not solder some pins correctly when I socketed all the 40 pin chips.
  23. Is there a hack of this so that you can use the Sears Video Arcade 2 controllers? I would love to play it like the arcade.
