1. I would still like to find out (without ruining my MMC) if it is possible to cut off the top of the mmc so it sits flush with the CC2. Then to get it out, you would just have a flap of tape on there to grip it. (this is what I did for my compact flash card for my camera because it is difficult to get out)

Anyone have a spare mmc that they wouldn't mine cutting up for this experiment? :)

I just don't want to drop mine one day and have the mmc broken like that.

From that picture you sent, it looks like you can probably cut it. I would not guarantee that it would still work though.

  2. There are some MMC cards whose top is actually detachable.  With the top removed, I could easily fit the whole thing in the CC2 but removing it would be difficult.

They are called RSMMC cards. They work just like MMC cards and are the same price.

    I have the 512Meg version of this.post-7833-1137301004_thumb.jpg

Here is my scan on the RSMMC card. Since seeing your pics, have removed the extender off the RSMMC card. The memory card is now fully inside the CC2 MMC port.

  3. I forgot about that limitation of Fat32. I use NTFS now and only have a small Fat32 drive for win98. I have not booted that partition in 3 years.

One of the things I would do is image that drive with something like norton ghost. After that, you can do what ever you want and not be afraid of losing what is left. If the step you choose to take destroys the rest of the data, you can restore the image and do something else.

So I forgot to paste. :x

  4. Steve Baker did both for the 5200. I think he did the 8-bit versions as well. I remember reading somewhere (probably from Tempest) that he thought he had a faster version of Stargate somewhere.

Hmm. The 5200 port looks the same as the cart I got. I guess this is why the game is only a prototype.

  5. Compared to A8 Defender, I think it really sucks. It's choppy as hell and the graphics are horrible and don't work at all...

I have had it for 12 hours now, I have to agree. Defender 8bit was one of the reasons to buy the 400/800 back in the day. If Defender was as choppy as Stargate, they would not have sold many. So who wrote the 2 ports. They look like different people programmed them. If the programmers are different people, why didnt they allow Defender programmer rewrite the Defender code to make Stargate?

I really did need the Humans in the game to have moving arms and legs.

The 2 button games are low because I dont have a decent joystick to play them yet. I have used the Sega Genesis pad and they work, but I want a joystick not a joypad. I might have to tear one down to do it. Then I might score more on those games.

  7. I don't use emulation, so the pacman hacks are out of the question for now.

    999247

I use a CC2 so there is no emulation for me. It allows you to play all the hacks on real hardware. Takes less than a minute to D/L the file and change a text file to run. Just copy it over onto the MMC card.

Here is a link Schell's page The 25% coupon might still work too. Just find tread on Cuttle Cart 2

  8. FWIW, O^2 and Intellivision II both use AC power supplies.  I think it's about 16 volts for O^2 and about 18 volts for IntvII.

    994991

Really? My adaptor says OUTPUT:16.2V AC 955MA

I remember using the Atari 400 adaptor to power the Intellivision 2 when the adaptor went bad.

  9. One more thing- is the XM301 supposed to light up when the system turns on or only when in use? I got the thing for about $4 on eBay as is.

    998742

I could not get mine to light up. I have not really tested it though. I dont know of any bbs. I guess i could connect it to another modem.

  10. What would you do?

    998687

I dont know. It seems like 99c is a pitance, but it seems this guy does describe his auctions poorly on a regular basis. The negs he gets show that he does it fairly regularly. I might neg him because of that, but I would let him have a chance to explain himself and see if he can make it right. I would at least give him a neutral to warn others of this type of problem.

The 2 pictures of carts have 2 different backgrounds and probably were from somewhere else.

  11. I kinda like the lower price just for the rom idea, but I want a cart even if I dont ever use it. I just wanted the rom so I could just start the game without pulling carts. Its the open mentality that makes me want to support Ken. He basicly has already released most of the game to the public with his Demo. I could not believe how complete it already is and he still is working on it.

  12. The enemy respawn logic could possibly be back ported to the 800/5200 version but don't know if existing 5200/800 cart owners would appreciate that.

    997337

Knowing how some people like to collect different versions, they might end up getting both.

Thanks again for the answers Ken. As hard as you worked on this, I would never release your baby. I am a programmer too and I would not want my work just floating around either.

  13. I noticed you are in Houston. I would like to see your mod. I actually was interested in doing this at one time. The only difference is I dont want to press OPTION. Maybe the 32 in 1 OS from Atarimax may be an option.

The old dinosaur just got a new lease in life!  Take this mod, coupled with SIMM mod in one of the RAM slots and plugged into port 4, and the venerable Atari 800 can be made to look like an XL/XE!

    997203

I like the way you think. I was thinking about putting a simm into my 800xl or XEGS, but this would be much more interesting.
