Sounds shifty to me. That is why I have been waiting on a feature like blacklisted sellers. Ebay lets you mark favorite sellers, but does not allow you save a list of bad ones. I would love to be able to mark a seller and to note to myself what I had to watch out for.

I played Hardball with my bro all the time. Lots of fun

Really, I was considering picking up a FB2 just to get the new joysticks. Some of my old atari joysticks have seen better days. I currently use the 500xj but they are a bit bigger than my hand making hard to grip.

I usually play starting at Banana and can usually get 180,000 from there. Starting at Cherry, the way I play seems to be different and I keep getting killed on the 3rd maze and get only about 100,000. I had been able to get to the 5th maze. On a very good day, the 6th maze is possible. I started playing Ms Pacman on the cabinet they put into my mom's convenient store. I like the arcade controls. This is where I think people may have an advantage. I still dont know how Jeff can get 112,740 on a keyboard. I am getting my scores using an Epyx 500xj. Also, I dont post scores lower than a previous higher score.
Art, how are you playing(console or emulator) and what controls are you using.
In the old days when my reaction times were better, I could easily get 200,000.
I have included my last attempt. I lost 3 in one maze alone. Also included is my high scores for Cherries where I am just hitting a brick wall past 100,000.

Go with a 800xl. They are easily found on ebay in lots with games for cheap. Its likely to have socketed chips. I have 2 socketed and 1 that is not. They would then be easier to upgrade. I have seen some go $20-30 with carts and games.
If you dont want to deal with upgrading but have been expanded the most, 130xe is good. They keyboard does suck and more most do not have socketed chips.
Other you should consider are the XEGS or the 800. Some of the 800s have one of the best keyboards.

I hope you have lots of space.
If you are serious about collecting Macs, try www.craigslist.org. Look under the for sale section for computers. Make sure you are under Atlanta. It defaults to San Francisco.

Atari 600xl

Well, I have successfully put the ram chips from the XEGS into the 600xl. It works, but with only 16k.
Craig Lisowski's mod of the 600xl
So I found this mod from Craig. I saw it before but never attempted it because I did not have the ram chips. Works great. The MyIDE interface loads up.

Hi, I was looking into upgrading my 600xl to 64k or more. I have found that the 600xl uses 2x 4416 chips and the xegs uses 2x 4464 chips. They look like the pins are compatible and I could use the chips from a XEGS to upgrade a 600xl. What else would I need to take upgrade the 600xl? Will it be able to recognize the extra space? How about XEGS upgrades? Has anyone tried to use one in a 600xl or would the 600xl's lack of Freddie be a problem?
The reason I want to do this is because the xegs is currently dead and I could use its chips for other systems.
Thanks

Karateka gets my vote. I remember using an Apple ][ and using the keyboard was more fun than the 7800 with Prolines.

I've had close shaves in the PC world as well:One thing I've learned, is to always keep the PC earthed during the installation of cards, etc, but not to keep it connected to the power (ie, turn the power off but keep it plugged in).
I didn't obey this, and was once in the middle of installing an Ethernet card when the PC decided to turn on!! Cue frantic scrabbling to unplug it before any damage was done!
Luckily, I was fortunate.
That is one of the reasons I hate soft power buttons. I miss having direct control of the power when you wanted to turn it off and on.

Will it work with the CC2?
-
No, I dont think it was a Mexican release. If anything it may have been special inventory since I did buy it in San Francisco which was only 50 miles away from Atari HQ.
Here are my pics that I scanned. They are HUGE!!! But you can see the significant things. The shield has lots of rust from all the finger oil that I have put on it.. I did not scan the keyboard since it looks to be standard xl.
Any requests for a particular part of the 600xl?

I have Chelco 600xl too. There are key differences. My keyboard is of the standard flat (600/800xl), power switch is standard.
I have the top of the Case with the Chelco icon with "Chelco SC 835 (600xl)" like chelco.png
#14 Like DSC00014.jpg. My Motherboard has:
Chelco 1983
P/N:150600008
REV.8A 600XL
#12 Like DSC00012.jpg. I have the same black serial tag except mine has a white serial number on it. All 3 of my 800xl have white tags. The serial number is on a long sticker stuck on top of the tag. Maybe yours came off. All my 800xl have them imprinted on the white tag.
#13 Like DSC00013.jpg. I have the red wire from the cartridge door to the Motherboard. None of my 800xl have this
#15 I dont remember how I got it off. The shielding is still there, but I dont remember it being hard to take off.
All of the output align fine. I have no PBI peripherals so I cant test alignment, but it looks to be centered.
I have always thought the 600xl was of higher quality than my 800xls since all chips were socketed. It was my first 8bit and has basicly been my test mule. I have never had problems using the power supplies I have. I have the "Black Beauty", 3 of the top and rightmost adaptors, and 2 of the crappy #3 the middle top in the link(one of which outputs 6+ volts. (Image was taken off of B&C's web site)
Its too bad it was my test mule. If its rare, then I have really devalued it. I bought it from some catalog chain in San Francisco.(I think it was Consumers Union or eXchange) I think it was the Summer of 84. I got it for $49 brand spanking new. The sale happened just about the time I was about to buy a Coco2. If it did not happen, I probably would have never gotten so involved with Atari 8bits.
I will get pics for you later this week. Maybe I will scan the parts so you can see some detail. Also I only have this one 600xl. I do not have one to compare to like you do. I can only refer to my other 800xls. Maybe if I could see what a regular 600xl looks like, I can tell you what ever else is different about it.

This was the prior listing.
He does not list Mean 18 in the description in either listing. He wanted a bit much w/o Mean 18. Thats probably why it did not sell the 1st time.
