  1. True, but I wanted to know if you can access the MMC card from the keyboard. It would be cool if you could access 2 Gigs(fat16 limit) worth of storage.
  2. No, I dont think it was a Mexican release. If anything it may have been special inventory since I did buy it in San Francisco which was only 50 miles away from Atari HQ. Here are my pics that I scanned. They are HUGE!!! But you can see the significant things. The shield has lots of rust from all the finger oil that I have put on it.. I did not scan the keyboard since it looks to be standard xl. Any requests for a particular part of the 600xl?
  3. I have Chelco 600xl too. There are key differences. My keyboard is of the standard flat (600/800xl), power switch is standard. I have the top of the Case with the Chelco icon with "Chelco SC 835 (600xl)" like chelco.png #14 Like DSC00014.jpg. My Motherboard has: Chelco 1983 P/N:150600008 REV.8A 600XL #12 Like DSC00012.jpg. I have the same black serial tag except mine has a white serial number on it. All 3 of my 800xl have white tags. The serial number is on a long sticker stuck on top of the tag. Maybe yours came off. All my 800xl have them imprinted on the white tag. #13 Like DSC00013.jpg. I have the red wire from the cartridge door to the Motherboard. None of my 800xl have this #15 I dont remember how I got it off. The shielding is still there, but I dont remember it being hard to take off. All of the output align fine. I have no PBI peripherals so I cant test alignment, but it looks to be centered. I have always thought the 600xl was of higher quality than my 800xls since all chips were socketed. It was my first 8bit and has basicly been my test mule. I have never had problems using the power supplies I have. I have the "Black Beauty", 3 of the top and rightmost adaptors, and 2 of the crappy #3 the middle top in the link(one of which outputs 6+ volts. (Image was taken off of B&C's web site) Its too bad it was my test mule. If its rare, then I have really devalued it. I bought it from some catalog chain in San Francisco.(I think it was Consumers Union or eXchange) I think it was the Summer of 84. I got it for $49 brand spanking new. The sale happened just about the time I was about to buy a Coco2. If it did not happen, I probably would have never gotten so involved with Atari 8bits. I will get pics for you later this week. Maybe I will scan the parts so you can see some detail. Also I only have this one 600xl. I do not have one to compare to like you do. I can only refer to my other 800xls. Maybe if I could see what a regular 600xl looks like, I can tell you what ever else is different about it.
  4. $9.86 at Walmart. I don't know how long the sale is for. It was in my Sunday Paper.
  5. I did the same thing to my 800xl and 1050 setup. Luckily those were the only 2 things in the chain. I have learned never to just poke plugs in blindly on the back of the atari. Recently I removed the POKEY from the 800xl and used it. I just noticed that 800xl now works. I guess only the I/O was damaged since the sound worked when installed in another system.
  6. Thats great. I did not take mine from an emulator. I played on a TV then hooked it up to my tv tuner card on the PC and captured the score. I still like to play on real equipment.
  7. 10 GRAPHICS 9 20 GOTO 20 If you get a black screen, you have the newer GTIA chip. If you get a blue screen, you have the older CTIA chip. Of course you would need a BASIC cart. The original source of this info
  8. I tried that in the screenshot. I might try a different dos.
  9. 72770 here. I was using my Epyx 500xj. That was my first try at expert. I usually start with novice. What are the rules? Can we post a score later in the week? Remember, I bought 7800 just to get Galaga when I have all the 8bit stuff sitting around.
  10. What is .xex? I have noticed a few files with that extension? If its like .com extension, then why use the .xex extension?
  11. Galaga I got a 7800 just to play galaga. Now have a CC2 so I will be playing it with some other games
  12. Hmm, wouldnt it have been an opportunity to sell new paddles? I know the people here will have no problems fiinding an old one, but it might have gotten people to buy new paddle that could automaticly activate those hidden roms. BTW, Great product. I am waiting for FB3.......
  13. Sorry, I read the original post and forgot the original question when I clicked on the link.
  14. Actually you can get it direct from Atarimax for cheaper. link to the flash image Just buy a 1Mbit cart from Atarimax and put this on the cart. Its the same. I think Steven will even do it for you at no additional cost. You just have to contact him about that.
  15. You dont have to tell me. I was saving for one in the late 80s and they stopped making it. I did not want to settle for the 256k model. So, I have not bought one. I was hoping to bid on it but there was already 3 motivated bidders. It probably got a few bucks more for spartados X
  16. Are the Star Wars one any good. I see a R2D2 version and a Darth version. The R2D2 has a cart port on top. Why are there 2 versions?
  17. This is my repair. I used a stripe of aluminum foil cut into long thin strips. I then put it on a piece of tape. There is barely enough contact, but it works. Thanks everyone for the ideas.
  18. Hi all, I got this 130xe in a lot that I bought last month. The system works fine except for not being able to press RESET, OPTION, SELECT, START, and SPACEBAR. Also the Power LED was weak. It got weaker when I pressed Reset, Option, Select , or Start. The LED has since gone dim. I have bypassed the trace that is used for R O Sel Start and Power LED. It works fine, but I did not have an easy way to fix the Spacebar. Has anyone had repaired a trace on the mylar? I was looking into using some conductive paint or even a car Defrost repair kit. So far, the expense of getting these 2 things have prohibitted me from getting them. I could possible get a XE cheap on ebay, but its kind of wasteful since I already have a 130xe and a 256k 800xl. I am just asking to see if anyone has come up with an easy solution to this problem. Thanks Toan
  19. I was referring to the 130xe. I could not get the BXE cart to work with the 400. It did not expect it to work anyway.
  20. I dont think it would work. CF cards uses connections that are basicly IDE. That is why the converters are so cheap and readily available. I made 2 for myself. It costs about $75/cart. Not bad for a totally self contained HD solution. I would have preferred the internal version, but having the carts are more convenient when you want to move it from computer to computer. Link to my cart pics I had discussed this in the Cuttle Cart 2 discussion on this board. Steve should really make a MyCF cart.
  21. When I PEEK (106) I get 160. So, 160*256=40960 bytes I get the same on my 130XE. Basic Rev. C and Basic XE. I have forgotten what I needed to do to access the extra space with BXE. This page documents the PEEK
  22. Hi Steve, The Screen comes back with: So, is this for programming?
  23. I posted some pics yesterday on this machine I just got. There is a board with Omnimon attached at C199 socket. There is a name on the a chip on the Omnimon board. Is it significant? Also the ram card has been replaced with the MM6448 card from INTEC Peripherals. It may be 64K since the front shows only 8 ram chips, but the OS still looks like 400/800 not xl/xe. I don't know what the switch if for. I will try to get better pics, but I don't feel like opening it at this time.
