  1. If you are worried about it running hot you could add a 3.1 volt zener diode to convert it to 9v.

    See this thread for info:

    http://www.epanorama.net/phpBB2/viewtopic....8fe6c5c4aa73051

(it talks about a car's 12v but the same should apply)

I was about to suggest the timex sinclair 2000, until I double checked and realized it never left the prototype stage heh

  2. I don't have mine unpacked so I can look at it, but If I remember right, it uses the same power supply the Genny2 does.

    Can someone else varify this?

my SegaCD version 2 does use the genny 2 power supply. with the CD units there are bad reports of third party power supplies blowing a segaCD, always read the label to check the polarity make sure the one you want to use is correct, even if it is a genny 2 power supply

I have head the segaCD lacks a power inverter/converter and explains some of the dead ones you find out there

can anybody confirm that? I forget where I read it.

  3. I hope the seller comes back, as I've been eyeing those CD32s for a little while now. I wonder if they're actually extra stock from the 90's, or the result of a little side-manufacturing? :ponder: :D

Based on the condition of the box, manual and warranty card - I'm pretty sure they're extra stock from the 90's. Note - the condition isn't bad, just feels old.

I wrote him/her* back to say thanks and they wrote back to say if I needed anything else to drop them a note. Would you like me to PM their email address to you?

    * email at one point said David, last one said Amy. Possibly it's a couple of people involved.

    thanks for the update!

congrats on your minty new/old system :)

and PM for the email address

  4. Reason I'm asking: I'm thinking of putting together a user-addable online database of bricks-and-mortar stores that sell "classic" video games that you can't get at places like GameStop

that is pretty much my definition of what is "retro", not available in the chain retailers anymore =)

for the term "classic" I feel it needs to be pre-crash, the NES feels almost on the fence to me

there is questions of generations, I like wikipedia's breakdown http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_consoles

  5. No, I got a NIB one coming over from China. I think they uncovered a warehouse full of them as whenever they sell one another goes up.

    thats cool

I have wondered about this, been considering getting one, but being the seller being based out of china has made me a bit weary.

I would be very interested in your experiences with em, post and let us know when it arrives =)

  6. For an AV selector, I haven't heard of one that would work with multiple systems that are RF-based video ones. I was thinking of making one though. A few parts from Radio Shack and either a metal case, or a small block of wood to hold the pieces together, and it should be okay.

I am using one similar to

    av_switchbox.jpg

mine takes 5 coaxial type F inputs and 3 coxial outputs. it has buttons on the front allowing you to choose which input goes to which output.

sorry I can't find a pic of one more like mine in 10min of searching, but its made by Rotocon and I got it used ofcource ;)

  7. funny this is really close to what I have been thinking about doing also.

I was wanting to get boxes to put the consoles into, like these

    http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/serv...Number=20024514

could keep a few controllers in the box with the its console

would just need to pull the lid off the box of the console I was playing

I wanted a bookcase w/ a solid back, 12" deep shelves, bout 30" wide. 2 boxes per shelf.

I want around 8" high between each shelf. That would make a 7 shelf bookcase would be around 5.5' - 6' very manageable.

I havent found the right bookcase yet tho.

was thinking of cutting a hole in the back of each box for av and power cords, then a hole in the back of the bookcase for each corresponding box to clean up the wires. was also planning to have the powerstrips and av selector all mounted to the back of the bookcase.

I dont have an AV selector picked out yet, anyone have suggestions?
