  1. The grey pads weren't prototypes. They were specifically made for the Falcon/STE. Joshua.
  2. Honestly, 'Atari Lion' would be kinda corny... It just doesn't sound right... Puma or Cheetah would sound better. Cheetah being the fastest mammal on earth would compliment the fastest console on earth Joshua.
  3. Well, I got the 1040STF and SC1224 from a local Value Village. My God, they were so filthy and dirty I didn't want to buy them at first. But I did and brought them home with me and spent a couple of hours cleaning them. I made an RGB adapter for the SC1224 and my Jaguar. The picture is unbelievable. I was wrong about hooking VCRs or any other composite stuff on a SC1224. It will only do RGB. Joshua.

    S-Video

Ok folks. Last night I built me an RGB adapter for my Jag and Atari SC1224 monitor. The picture quality is superb! I can't believe it. I used a hacked-up piece of an ISA slot from an old motherboard. Took me about 2 hours. Joshua.
  5. Just picked up another Samsung model SC1224 and Atari 1040STF for 6.99 canadian. Joshua.

    S-Video

Just to clear a few things up. A 21-pin SCART does have an RGB-feature, however, it is not standard because the default-signal transmitted by the SCART is the same kind of signal that a common RCA-plug gives You. If You want to use the RGB-function, You must set Your TV to recieve the signal on the RBG-pins. RGB is far better than SCART, the standard SCART signal gives one single video signal, not in different hues as the RGB does, hence, the colours are far less vivid and not at all as accurate around the edges. Besides, the RGB is developed to work at 60Hz. (This is borrowed from a previous conversation on this board and slightly edited) Joshua.
  7. Yeh. That's the Goldstar model. Looks like the SM124. Joshua.

    S-Video

RGB is definately the best. S-Video comes in second place. The Atari color monitors, SC1224 amd SC1435 make very nice gaming monitors. You can also hook you VCR/DVD player or any console to them. Another common monitor is the Commodore 1084. I have the latest revision of it and it's beautiful. It has RGB and Composite connectors and you can work out a S-Video connection for it too. The Phillips CM8833-II is another great monitor which is basically the same as Atari's SC1435 which is a re-badged CM8833-II minus the composite connectors. Joshua.
  9. I've owned all 3 models of SC1224 and I currently own the Samsung version. JVC is said to be the best quality, Goldstar is the most common one and looks like the SM124, Samsung is a square monitor with the power button on the front-right of the monitor, looking at the front. There was also a PS3000 which was a color monitor and single-sided diskdrive in one unit. It was produced in very limited quantities. Oh, and there seems to be an Atari SM146 as well. Not to mention the TT mono monitors and the PTC VGA monitor... Wow... that's a bunch... Joshua. [ 04-24-2002: Message edited by: Lord Gaiyan ]
  10. ...and there are 3 different SC1224 models by JVC, Goldstar, and Samsung. There's also SM125 SM144 SC1435 monitors as well. Joshua.
  11. Rayman is my all-time fav platformer and my fav Jag game. I highly recommend it. Joshua.
  12. Why waste a high-end Atari for Linux where you could use a cheap peecee for it? I use an Atari for Atari stuff. Joshua.
  13. Well, XP Pro is running perfect here and I don't mind the eye candy. Steem works perfect as well. Joshua.
  14. I think you can just pop in any PC drive as long as you change the drive from DS1 to DS0. Newer drives have a solder bridge on DS1 that you have to remove and solder the gap between DS0. Some drives have jumpers. Joshua.
  15. MiNT is very easy to install. MiNTNet itself can be a little hard. MagiC on the other hand is a breeze. Joshua.
  16. Did some files load from the Auto folder? Basically MultiTOS looks the same as regular TOS but you can run several applications at the same time. MultiTOS is old, slow and buggy. I recommend you installing MiNT or MagiC or even Geneva. MiNT is free. Joshua
  17. Guys... The fact that your currency makes the price look higher makes no difference!! Even if $20 USD = $32 CAD, that means that it's not going to cost the canadian consumer anymore than the american. Look at Italy, Japan, Turkey... 44,556.66 ITL, 2,693.80 JPY, 27,682,000.00 TRL respectively. So everyone is a millionaire in Turkey. They prolly make 7 million bux and hour which is what a Canadian gets paid on minimum wage at ~8 bux. It's all about relativity. American's minimum wage is smaller than the Canadian minimum wage when comparing the dollar figure but in reality they're worth the same. That's why Canadians can afford to pay 32 bux just as well as Americans 20. I don't know if this makes any sense but I have lived in 3 different continents so I know a bit about world currencies. 18. Hey, you can download the demo from http://joshua.vianet.ca/ICBIB.zip Joshua. [ 02-09-2002: Message edited by: Lord Gaiyan ]
  19. I happen to have both Crawly Crypt CDs at home. I'm at work now so I'll bring them over tomorrow so you can download it from me. Joshua.
  20. Ghostlink comes with a program for both the ST and PC. They are tiny programs that fit on a DD floppy. Ghostlink is serial only. So you need a null-modem cable. Laplink AFAIK is parallel so it won't work. Again, ST's unmodified serial speed is 19200 bps which is tortuously slow compared to 115200 of the PC. But it definately will work on the ST. Even off of a floppy. The PC harddrive/folder will appear as a harddrive on your ST desktop and you can use it as such... if you have the patience Joshua. 21. I never did a VGA adapter but I was succesful in making an RGB adapter for my Commodore monitor. One thing to remember is how you connect the M0 and M1 lines. The combination of them tells the Falcon what monitor you're using. If you manage to wire the monitor wires correctly but don't ground the 'sense' lines (M0 M1) properly, it just won't work. I'll look around for info on it and post it here. Joshua. [ 02-05-2002: Message edited by: Lord Gaiyan ]
  22. There's really no difference in speed between VGA and RGB if you compare the same resolutions. The fact that VGA will run on a higher resolution taxes the performance of the system. When my stock Falcon ran at 800x608 in 256 colors, it was very slow. RGB is awesome for games and VGA is more for serious stuff. Joshua.
  23. Hey, I am trying to sell my Wizztronic 14MB RAM upgrade. Someone is looking to buy it right now but if I don't hear from him, I'll let you know. Joshua.
  24. Yeah, you're prolly gonna have to edit the Flash. You can change the language there and the boot resolution. Before the VGA adapter comes in, hold down the ctrl key on bootup. That should bring you to ST-Low that the TV should be able to handle. Joshua.
  25. I used ghostlink to connect my Falcon to the PC. I could use folders on the PC drive as Atari drives but it was pretty slow even at 115200 bps. An ST will do 19600 bps which is veery sloow. A null-modem cable is needed. You can find that from any computer/electronics store. Ghostlink can be found on any Atari FTP. Joshua. [ 01-11-2002: Message edited by: Lord Gaiyan ]
