  1. Well, maybe the last one went for a steal. One auction is hard to set the price for a very rare item.
  2. Well I think he cleaned up his act lately. However, I was going to leave a follow up on the negative feedback stating that I did get my money back. When I looked at his profile he has made his profile private. Furthermore, he states because of bogus buyers that he changed his profile to private. I take offense to that because I am sure that all of the had legit complaints. He screwed up royally and now he is blaming the bidders for his misdeads. All that happened before, I bet someone made him a huge offer on all of the rare games and that's why he wouldn't even ship anything that was dead. I think he must have made a killing on some huge deal enough to put up with all the shipping issues. No big magnet ruined those games
  3. I know they have released Space Monster in Aus. I saw that version on Ebay before but the I believe they released both versions in Europe, Space Monster early on and then for some reason slapped the Vulture Attack label in Europe.
  4. Well those are good questions. I would be honered to share my research on Ultravision and K-Tel games. The price tag is from Zellers which are basically the Canadian Dept Stores. Well I posted about the rarity I did not believe that instructions existed for either K-Tel game, especially when my sources say that they didn't come with them and nothing ever scanned for AtariAge. However, some recent developments through a trade, I have located the Vulture Attack Instructions which is a cheap plain white cardstock which is probably why no one seemed to keep the instructions. So I believe now that both the instructions existed and that I should have Vulture Attack shortly. I do not have the Spider Maze instructions. My Canadian sources (who lived around K-Tel location) told me that K-tel games were primarily released in Canada, however, there may have been some limited release in the North-North West USA. Also I was not aware of any European versions of these games until Marco said about a year ago that he had these or seen these in Europe markets. I believe that they were distributed in PAL versions in Europe. Furthermore, I am pretty sure that the boxes are identical in all cases for PAL and NTSC. I am not sure about Ultravision games if they are primarily from Canada only or if there is USA or European version, however, K-tel ended up buying Ultravision or pirating Condor Attack games. K-Tel's Vulture Attack is the same game and in some cases K-tel just slapped their own label on the Condor Attack to save on production probably. You can occaisionally still find the double label games. I believe that K-Tel also distrubuted the Xonox titles. Furthermore, I believe that K-Tel distrubuted to versions of the same game in Europe. They slapped Vulture Attack labels on their own game called Space Monster. So you can find two different games(label-wise) in Europe that I believe were the same game, Vulture Attack and Space Monster. I also have all the warranty info cards for Spider Maze and Vulture Attack. Hopefully that explains some of the mystery.
  5. Well first of all it wasn't anything personal against anyone like Cincynoti. I thought that there were a private auction or two in the Atari arena that seemed like they did a little better than others. So I figured I would experiment to get the most bang for the buck. Selling on Ebay is an art form. Some stupid things get big $$$ for stupid reasons, auction presentation does matter, etc., however, I think it may have backfired in my face. There was only only one bidder. I think people are extremely sensitive about have their bids tracked in Atari Community. That's why several people hide behind the German Privacy Laws like Rick and Cincynotti, and me, who are all in the states. I thought this I item was going to go for big $$$. To summarize I did it thinking it would encourage more bidding giving bidders a extra happy private bidding feeling. I guess I screwed that one up. I think it discouraged people from bidding.
  6. Well if anyone is interested please let me know that's the selling price. Not by me.
  7. I've received alot of private emails stating that they have seen this as high as $2500 and even one possibly at $4000. A few have sold on Ebay for at least for $1500 on Ebay a few times. I located 3 people that have them and have paid between 1700+ and kept track how much they have sold for. Of course this is boxed pricing.
  8. Finally got my money back today through PayPal. I just need to wait for it to post to my credit card. Just wondering about what the status is with others????
  9. No that's not me. He posted before I had a chance to advertise.
  10. Okay sorry CPUWIZ your probably right, however, in comparison to release games, even rare released games it's really hard to collect prototypes. At least the released stuff there's enough material.
  11. I am not a prototype collector but I can see why others are interested. I certainly have a few that I came across in the wild. I believe more than one of a proto cart rarely surfaces. I know sometimes they do surface as doubles but this phenomena makes it very hard for me to justify collecting or trading for protos because of their uniqeness. How do you determine a value? Furthermore, I don't like to collect these because it's hard to tell what's authentic. I believe it wouldn't take much to duplicate a lab loaner which I believe counterfeiting is a threat to value and how much one is willing to pay. This makes it hard for me to justify paying big $$$. Then the next question is how much??? No price guide for help, just a matter of opinions. $3000 or $300 for Polo? Many collectors feel a lab loaner of Pac Man like the released version, is not really worth alot. Collectors are looking for unique titles that were never released or different game play from originals. Many hardly got started like McDonalds...all a matter of opinion to determine value. I feel there is a huge amount of interest because protos are really a world we are just beginning to understand. What made these companies tick? Who programmed it, how did they do it....... so many questions.... rumors...so little answers 20 years later. For me protos are a very interesting, fascinating part of gaming history but I probably will never be a proto collector unless I hit the lottery. I feel most of the stuff has probably been discovered already. If someone flashed big enough $$$ I probably would sell what I had, however, I ran into protos in the wild so I never payed big $$$. Just kind of nice to have a few in your collection.
  12. decided to break up what I had and remove the reserve. Hope this help fills everyone's collection. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...&sort=3&rows=25

  14. John's post brings up some interesting details. Scott, I don't know enough of the intimate details. I get emotional about things I believe strongly about and I made my opinion clear enough and determined that and everyone else is entitled to their opinion. We may disagree but I do respect yours and everyones opinion. . One detail could sway the argument or one way or another. It's really not up to AA and DP members to decide. The bottom line is that we both don't know everything about what happened behind the curtains. I decided to let them work it out and not add anymore fuel to the fire. I am sure it will be worked out one way or another.
  15. John, Not a cheap shot intended like you thought. I know it sounded like you do it for the money only but...I didn't write it to mean that. After rereading I admit It was poorly worded. What I meant to say is that you want to make money too like everyone (in a good way) and not do it just for the love of the hobby. Otherwise the conflict would have never occurred and that's why you care about the copyright issue- to make profits nothing wrong with that. That whole thing came out a little too negative- more than I intended. My fault. I don't have a problem anyone with making a profit. You all should be able to profit from this by selling the best product. Just Not by trying to shut someone down. You'll notice that I said in the next paragraph I said you all want to make money rephrased a little better. Bad choice of words for the first paragraph poorly written.
  16. Scott, I don't know why you want protect John and Sean's interests so much. The company Commavid is DEAD. All copyrights do is protect profits. Clearly they want to profit off of someone else's ideas otherwise they would not care. Obviously is more than just the love of the hobby. Mark sold his products before any of this came to light with no intent to infringe on anybody and should not be required to shut down. Mark, Sean and John all want to make profits. Let them earn it by producing the best product. Sean and John bought some stuff off of someone that was part of a Dead Company. This is merely a private transaction and doesn't give them any automatic copyright protection- no public record of anything.
  17. I agree with Cupcakus. No one has the right to shut anyone down. No one is truly the owner of the material.
  18. I truly don't see all the hassel. If John and Sean truly do this for the love of the Atari Collecting Community and not $$, then I see nothing wrong with both Sumark and the new Commavid making different products. Nothing wrong with a little competition. If Sean and John's product is better then the public will surely reward them by buying more. I don't think Mark ever planned on opening a website Commavid.com or something super serious that would ruin John and Sean's plans. As a matter of fact, he sold these games before any Commavid purchase occured. In my opinion, I don't know copyrights can be enforced from a company that has been dead for 18 years. I am sure some transaction took place between someone that had alot of Commavid stuff, but I doubt that makes anyone the copyright owners especially if there is no significant formal record with copyright proof transfer or renewal. If a purchase was made from a legit existing company selling assets that's one thing. But just buying some stuff that a private person that was an owner or ex-employee I don't think gives automatic copyright protection for John and Sean in this case. An implied copyright may have existed with Commavid but it's truly dead for some 18 years. Also, I believe that if you think that copyrights should be enforced with Commavid situation then I think there are valid elements with MultiCarts or Rereleased Prototypes being copyright infringement as well. In summary demanding any copyright enforcement could be opening up a huge "can of worms" for all prototype rereleases, or multicarts. If more key people from existing companies knew about it, prototypes, and multicarts may turn into a very serious violation.
  19. Okay just to let you no that I have added some more.
  20. More coming tonight, I didn't expect to end one so soon.
  21. Unfortunately that's the policy now. I agree, it's a little crazy but that is the rules.

  24. sly

    Yes! I did it.

Thanks for posting that picture! The single ender cartridges themselves are no terribly difficult to find but the boxes and instructions are super difficult it took me years of trading, buying..... It's obvious that most people that bought these games discarded the boxes. I think the value on these complete games will difinetly go up in the future.
