  1. I know not everyone is a fan of reproduction games, but since these were of unreleased games (and they were on sale) I picked up these from a vendor on Etsy.com:

Sega Dreamcast Geistforce - comes with a case, case artwork and printed label on CD - $9.99

Atari Jaguar Barkley: Shut Up and Jam - labeled cartridge with UGC - $29.99

Atari Jaguar CD Brett Hull Hockey - comes with a case, case artwork and printed label on CD - $9.99

  2. Clean your Jag, and Jag CD, both sides. The Jaguar is one of the most dust sensitive consoles i've ever owner. Never leave the cart slots exposed, or games out in the open.

Once fully cleaned properly with 90% isopropyl alcohol, it should work fine.

Thanks Travis. As a longtime Jaguar owner (since 1994 for the Jaguar and 1995 for the CD attachment), this is the first game to give me a problem. Recent purchases (Songbird's Protector SE and Piko's Switch Blade) both loaded fine after I ran into the problem with Xenon.

  3. I recently purchased and received Xenon 2 from AtariAge via Ebay. With the CD unit in place, I can't always get the game to load - all I get is a black screen after the Jaguar logo is displayed. I would say I'm successful getting the game to load about 40% of the time. Game works fine after it loads.

I have been in contact with Al and he is aware of the issue. He did ask me to try the game without the CD unit attached. I also plan on giving the cartridge slot for the CD attachment a good cleaning.

Searching the forums, it looks like this issue has come up with other games - Towers 2, Flip Out and I-War to name a few.

Has anyone else had this issue with Xenon 2?

    Thanks.

  4. About a month back, I posted about finding an old Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop at work and getting it going. Remember that thing?

Today, I was given another one from a friend who was going to donate it: this time it's a Circa 2000-ish Dell Inspiron 8000!

The case is similar to the other one, but with these RAD palm rests and some extra buttons.

DVD ROM!!! The drive moved to the side instead of the front.

Still has a 3.5" floppy drive, too.

This one has an ethernet port and a wireless card (guy left it at home but will bring it to me) so it has a chance of hitting the modern internets

Lots of ports on the back, including not one but TWO USB PORTS!!!

Spec-wise, it's a Pentium III running at nearly 900mhz and has 320mb of RAM. Not bad for a machine of this era. It's also running Windows XP, which is fine by me. The screen on this one is much better than the other one I have.

Not sure what I'm going to do with it, or what I can do with it, but yeah!!!

I still have my Dell Inspiron 8000 I bought brand new in 2001. Mine has 512mb of RAM and is running Windows ME. The internal clock battery is dead and I have to make sure the main system battery at least has some charge or I get an error when I turn it on. The battery will charge but it gets very hot and doesn't last very long even when fully charged (maybe 10 to 15 minutes). Anyone know how to change the internal battery?

  5. The game returns to the title screen after the ending. You can load your last save before the end boss and continue playing/exploring/grinding if you like.

I finished mine Friday morning (Arth level 27, Deri level 28, Mori level 28). It really had me hooked, which says a lot coming from a guy who doesn't usually play RPGs. An RPG like this is an amazing homebrew achievement (I say homebrew in the sense of non-commercial, no huge dev team). I really enjoyed it, but ran across some bugs and have some questions.

My game would sometimes crash/freeze when accessing the menu screen, so I started saving pretty often. All-in-all, I had 5 game crashes/freezes accessing the menu and 1 game killing bug where the enemies and text disappeared during battle so I couldn't see what was happening or what I was selecting and I died after a few turns. It played fine after turning the game off and back on.

After discovering the "Hunts", I really enjoyed being able to get the extra cash and experience from these, but I'm not sure if there is a bug, as I was only able to get up to Hunt 30. When I step on the spot for Hunt 30, instead of starting the monster fight, the game just loads the last save.

Here are the bugs? I encountered:

    - Random freezes when accessing the menu.

    - Land tiles showing up in the water to the far left when traversing around the final island.

    - Text for instructions from old man for Hunt 30 seem cut off.

    - Hunt 30 inaccessible (or is this intentional?).

I may go back to the game at a later date and explore it more. I don't believe I ran into any of the bugs you refer to. Can't comment on the Hunt 30 "bug" as I only made it to hunt 10. Congratulations on completing the game.

  6. It looks like this Kickstarter is not getting much if any traction which is truly a shame. If it can do what it claims, I can't see an easier way to make a game. Not having to program code and using a drag and drop feature makes it a blessing for those wanting to try their hand at game creation. It removes the biggest problem (at least in my opinion) learning code. One can now focus on level design and graphic/sprite creation and most importantly making sure the game is fun to play.

Orion has done a lot for the Jaguar community and deserves better.

  7.

Still waiting for New PCB sample, since this time they won't be assembled by hand, but by a factory, cutting fulfilling and preordering times by more than half. So as soon as we get a 100% ready sample, we'll make an announcement.

Are you any closer to making an announcement?

  8. Took advantage of Gamestop's Pro Day sale on Saturday. Was able to get the following for 20% off:

  9. Last night my journey with Wyvern Tales came to an end. It was bittersweet. I am happy to add it to the small list of Lynx games I actually completed (Double Dragon, Dracula and Steel Talons). After spending a few hours every night since it arrived, it will be hard not to fire up the Lynx and continue the journey. The game is quite impressive and well worth the money. The final boss battle did seem to go on forever, but made the final victory more meaningful.

For those of you waiting for your game to arrive, believe me it will be worth the wait.

For those of you still deciding to purchase the game, take a chance. I don't think you will be disappointed.

  10. Some miscellaneous tips:

Have all three members of your group learn the Awake spell. I found this ability to be useful in many battles. Someone could always revive the other two.

Keep a good supply of Health and Mana items on hand. You get them sometime after winning a battle, but don't be afraid to buy them. Later in the game you can buy Health + and Mana + which are much more effective. Having these items allowed me to explore further in the game without needing to use a Teleport to return to the nearest town and visit the healing statute. It's also good to use them just before you fight one of the dragons so your team is at full strength. Luckily the game gives you a hint where the dragon battle will take place (there is a marking on the floor).

    Hope these help.
