  1. It just urks me that they have the balls to charge $1 to play a classic game! especially one that I can go home and play for free on my mame or on sony. I admit, I would be tempted to play if it were one of those mega arcade games with more than 25 games.

  2. I was in my local deli the other day and they had recently installed 3 video games! I was like "cool!!! video games!" one was a racing one, another was a multi betting video game type of machine and the other was a MS PAC MAN/GALAGA combo. I didnt have time to play them until yesterday. I go to plunk in a quarter then I read "4 quarters = 1 play"!

what the fuq? $1 to play MS PACMAN/GALAGA? No thanks!!! I will wait till I get home!

  3. If a game doesn't have DIP settings, then often there is a settings menu that's accessed by a certain button sequence during power-on.

where is the DIP settings? 720 HAS THE 'TAB" functions but doesnt allow me to slow the bees down.

  4. This has always been one of my favorite video games of all time. I play the shit out it on my mame.

most of you know that I had some problems with mame recently. one thing I noticed is that the bees in 720 are much more agressive and faster in the one i recently installed. I checked the settings and I cant seem to find the function that slows them down a tad.

the other 720 had no problem whatsoever. I was able to complete 3 levels in "experienced" and now, I cant even seem to get to the first park. can anyone help?

  5. You didn't say which version of MAME you're using, but I'm going to take a guess that somewhere in the options menu there's an option called "Search for New Games at Startup" or "Audit All Roms at Startup" or something to that effect. Turn that off and you'll probably get what you want.

    sorry, Im using MAME32 0.110U3

also, when I play 720, a line scrolls down the screen every 30 seconds, its sorta "fuzzy". I never saw this before on this game.

  6. What is the latest and best MAME out right now? I have MAME32 0.110U3 and it doesnt seem to work with a lot of the games. I had one before this and it worked great. can anyone recommend the best one out there?

  7. I had my comp cleaned up and I lost my mame so i had to download another and now it seems to have some issues. whenever i got to open it, it give me "GAME SEARCH 10% COMPLETE" (the number starts from 0 then slowly counts up to 100)

I have to wait 5 minutes everytime I open the MAME up. is there a reason why this does this? I never had to wait before.

  8. thats kinda looks weird, having mr rogers watch a lil kid play video games.

reminds me of some old guy that used to watch the little kids play games in a local arcade when I was a kid.

for years, I saw the old man. but never paid much attention to him until I was working in the same arcade when I was 18 and a mother came running to the office yelling about an old man that tried to molest her son. it was the same guy! my co worker grabbed a baseball bat and came running out to smash the guys skull in but he was gone by the time we got out, never to be seen again.

    fuckin pedofiles.

  9. Talk about bad timing....same weekend as VGXPO. I have done ok at this auction before (mostly due in part to industry sellers clearing out the campgrounds and beaches and stupid buyers bidding 1400 on Centipedes and Asteroids) but that was as a seller/operator.

Wow. Are they really mobbed like this?

ha-ha!! check out the guy with the recliner on a dolly! talk about a lazy fat shit! :D

  10. Geezus. Here. Just take it.

You need Salamander to run Lifeforce since Salamander is of course the original game, and thus the parent rom set.

thanks!!! it works now!!!!! you guys are the best!

  11. Sometimes it comes down to just the difference between playing left handed vs right handed. All dpads are made for left handed use.

I use to play bomberman quite a bit keyboard only where all the joystick movements were done with the right hand. When I switched to a dpad I could get nowhere near the score I did with just a keyboard.

On my awecade unit games like Pepper II are hard to play left handed, wherease if I switch to my right hand all of a sudden i do alot better.

yea, Im a righty, too and most (if not all) all games are made for lefties! you should see my in the arcade with my wrists crossed over each other to play games!

btw, did they ever make a PEPPER 1? I mean, how can they go straight to PEPPER 2 W/O a PEPPER 1? :?

  12. so far, I have gone through 2 logitechs, 2 recoils and im currently using a saiteck "rumbleforce". they are all hard to use with the simplest games. I seem to apply too much pressure on the controllers thus breaking them (he-he!) but like I said before, the controllers are way too sensitve when it comes to the simplest manuevers on classic games.

  13. See, I dislike the mega CP look too... a spinner, a trackball, two 8 way joysticks, a 4 way joystick... and 34 buttons in every color of the rainbow. Blech....

Being that I've got a X-Arcade Dual for my control panel, I've considered making the control panel a modular thing where I can just easily unplug the X-Arcade and plug something else in... a trackball control panel, or a single 4 way stick control panel, or a two stick with fire buttons on top control panel. Heh. But that seems like it would get to be a pain too, storing all those extra CPs when not in use, for one thing.

I dunno, NE... my Mame cab is a conversion of Quarterback. It has a coinbox that works, and is lit, it has florescent lighting behind the bezel. It has good speakers that have some kick... I agree that the vector games in particular, don't look perfect... especially Asteroids... but, I also have a pragmatic outlook on the whole deal... that is...

I don't have the luxury of a full finished basement I can fill with genuine cabs. I can see the difference in Choplifter on my cocktail table versus in my Mame cab... there is a difference... but, for the convienience, it is perfectly tolerable for me. This way... I've got all my favorite titles in one cab, and it looks good enough to impress anyone who would come over here OTHER than another geek like myself. (Actually, even geeks like myself are generally impressed... it would probably need to be a BIGGER geek to start nit-picking the unit... :) )

So... again... going back to this guy's original question, I think for most people, something like either the Competition Pro USB or the X-Arcade is going to suit their needs just fine. But you certainly have to disclaim that with a prudently cautious "If you're really picky, it might not be the joystick that is letting you down, it is MAME itself that fails to meet your expectations"...

    :)

I dont think its mame. Im picky I guess because of the simple control. I try playing MR DO! and pacman games and the characters move all over the place. I HATE IT!!! I want something that isnt so dam sensitve.

can i switch the controls on the joystick to the pad?

  14. thanks! I was hesitant on buying the $99 joystick (mainly because of the price) but if you insist that buying it will rectify the problems, I will buy it. I would do anything to get it to feel like the arcade. these dam $20 controllers are so sensative!
