  1. I was wondering why you always hear the pacman death noise when you see someone playing a video game on television or in the movies. When it is clear they are playing a genesis or intellivision for that matter (check out National Lampoons Vacation) That pacman death noise is always there and ingrained into my skull from playing it so much as a kid. (Shudder)

  2. I too design labels, I don't have the fame as the above entry, but I am a dedicated Atari enthusiast and Graphic Designer with well over 10 years in the field. The quickest and easiest solution for your problem is to go toFonts this site and download SF Atarian. This is a free font that contains several variations on the Atari logo. By dropping this font in Illustrator you can use "create outlines" and have a perfect replica of the logo in a vector program. (Shift + 3, Shift + 8, & Shift + 2 should produce the desired symbols).

    Besides Ebay...

I have managed to find tons of Jaguar titles around here. I found Alies Vs Predator and that Memory card boxed good condition. I sold my jaguar though, otherwise I would have kept these games. If I ever find anymore. I will be sure to post them on here to let everyone take their pick, the cheapest way, at thrift cost. I have no use for them. Although I do love Atari, but alas, I never had much fun with my Jaguar (bit me too much, hehe) seriously the only game I could find when I had it was that vidgrid, fell in love with the thing. I also had the cd player, which I felt was too slow for some games like Space Ace and such. Anyway I still love my Atari 2600.

  4. Hey, King Asmo is sending me my first ever 7800 console. I have Impossible Mission and Galaga. But what games should I look for? Besides 2600 games. I have a massive heap of those now. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what might be a good next purchase?

  5. Hey, I noticed there were no topics here so I decided to start one. I jsut recently sold an old Pong machine on ebay in perfect working order. It was more of a Sears Telegames machine with eight or so different games on it. I bought a new tv cord and cleaned out the guts of it. Worked great, nothing wrong with it. Even the built in speaker sounded great. Which scared me when I realized it was in the machine. I couldn't figure out why the noises were still happening with the tv turned down. I thought my tv was broken. Oh well

  6. I agree, I avoid yahoo auctions and amazon auctions like I try to avoid the plague. I have yet to ever recieve anyhting I ordered from either of those two auction houses. I also agree with the picture theory. Sometimes things stay cheaper without a picture and it is tempting to bid on them, but who knows what it really is, could even be a cardboard cutout in the likness thereof of your item, the seller could say he/she thought it was real. Scarry stuff.

  7. I just want to thank you for that Albert, I was about to kill someone from pure anger. Not to mention destroying my entire collection of Spielberg movies and burning him in effegy in my front yard. Seriously though, that toy manufacturer must not have rights to the Reeses deal. And I was seriously in the mode of thinking that they took it out of the movie. So thanks for keeping me sane and giving me hope that I might go see it again. (Wipes brow) Whew!

  8. That's correct you heard it. Once I hooked up my Verticle hold NTSC television to my NTSC Atari. I was able to play all of my PAL carts perfectly. (once the v-hold was adjusted) and the weird part is I didn't have to readjust it to play the NTSC games again. Why was that?

  9. What, they scrapped the Reeses Pieces? I watched the preview at the theatre the other night and was wondering why I didn't see them. What the hell is the candy in the "NEW ET" supposed to be? It does play a major role in the film you know. Not only that, but I was at Toys R Us the other day and was looking at the ET action figures and noticed the ET figure came with a bag of . . . .you guessed it folks candy. Random as all get out. I feel sorry for Reeses Pieces this could have been a break for them to sell more candy. It is still around and all. I hat Spielburg for messing with this movie. I hope at least the Atari and the polaroid camera scenes stay in. God forbid kids be forced to realize other things besides and Xbox existed before.

  10. I looked at the Turner Website and I have to say that I don't personally believe it was any decision related to Turner in any way to use the joystick symbol. I have seen the promotions from the designer/deleoper of the site and if I am correct they use lots of old retro symbols to desing with. Not limited to the Atari joystick. If you checkout House Industries they use the shadow of the Atari and the joystick a lot. I don't know how much of this is related to it being an icon to symbolize something, which obviously it is, or just some designers thinking a retro object like the Atari and it's peripherals would be a cool picture. How long until people start utilizing the old NES peripherals and such to appeal to a younger generation? It's just something to think about.

  11. I hope she likes it. Don't forget to tell us all the conclusion to the story! I am getting pretty excited too. I'm waiting on my Atari 7800 to come in the mail. I can't stand it. I've been waiting for the mailman at the door everyday, no luck yet, but soon!

  12. That's insanity for you. The bidders might as well have someone mold a nintendo game out of solid gold and just stick a chip in it. It would probably be cheaper than risking everything on this auction. Good luck to the winner.

  13. Good, lord. Reading all of this makes me sick. I can't find squat around here and the few jerks who have something worth buying either jack up the price way high or keep it in the back and are "deciding when to put it out" makes me sick!

  14. Oh, boy I passed up, Indy 500, basketball and combat for the 2600 and a copy of pole position for the 5200. All two bucks a piece. Too high? I didn't really want them. But everytime I buy a labeless cart it turns out to be a broken copy of frogger. Whats up with that. I sold seven labeless froggers the other day to the game store for, you guessed it, fourteen in credit. Weird huh? The store used to sell the games for a quarter or fifty cents.

  15. I use to find a bunch of games, like oink and dolphin. Nothing too rare, but lately I have been on a downward slump. We only have so many thrift and flea markets to go to. And I try to go every weekend, but they are starting to get to know me. Thats scary. I feel like I'm bothering these people now. But I need games like an addition or something. I found an Intellivision once but the thrift store wanted $60 bucks for it. I told them I could buy a new N64 for $60 bucks but they wouldn't budge. Someone bought it the next day. I couldn't believe it!
